This the role you are looking for.

2008-04-03 01:36:24 PM
Excellent idea, actually.

2008-04-03 02:24:00 PM
Yeah, I could see that.

Get Paul Giamatti to play Higgins.

2008-04-03 02:26:43 PM
On the other hand, a Pi Magnum would be impressive as all hell, on the order of a small howitzer.

2008-04-03 02:32:57 PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!111111!!!

2008-04-03 02:34:28 PM
Well allright allright allright.

2008-04-03 02:35:35 PM
Oh HELLZ no !!!!

2008-04-03 02:36:55 PM
I thought Magnum P.I. wore a shirt though.. .this could be a problem.

Not all the time. The big question is who will play T.C. and will he have that really cool helicopter?

ChewbaccaJones: Get Paul Giamatti to play Higgins.

Spacey. F*cking Kevin Spacey. If studio heads had any amount of testosterone-infused creativity, they would make Walken = Higgins. But I doubt any party would be interested.

Frankie Faison for T.C.. if I had my way. The assholes will probably throw Ludacris into it. Not that I don't like Ludacris. T.V., tho'? I would want to see Michael K. Williams do it. Luckily, he's too talented for that. John Krasinski would make a good Manetti.

FTFY.

Only if he grows the porn stache.

2008-04-03 02:42:50 PM
Jeezus - enough with the remakes, already!!!

2008-04-03 02:46:43 PM
Bad idea.

All I heard was "Blah, blah blah blah blah really cool Airwolf"

McConaughey doesn't have the 'stache for it...

Never watched an episode, but I think he'd be great in the role.

Terrible idea. Seriously, this is a terrible idea.

Terrible. Not just making this into a movie (because it is, once again, an example of Hollywood's lack of creativity), but he'd SUCK MAJOR DONKEY ASSHOLES in this role. Leave him in the silly young/mid-age love-based comedy roles.

At least he'd fit the "private dick" mold...

Shhhhh! Hollywood might hear you, and find out it's time for a "re-imagining" of Airwolf, and we really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really don't want that!

This isn't a great idea, but it's infinitely better than the Nick Cage idea...I'm all for a Magnum reboot but it must have no Nick Cage. At all. Ever. See Ghostrider, etc.

2008-04-03 03:02:47 PM
I can think of a hell of a lot worse casting choices.

/Tom Hanks...John Travolta, Nick Cage, Collin Ferral. John Goodman.

Well shiat, why not cast Brad Pitt or George Clooney.....
/Not living in the land of magical unicorns and flying puppies.
//If it's a movie it's probably going to be Cage even though I'll have to find the casting director and give him a Columbian necktie

Though I'd never believe M.M. as a Detroit Tigers fan...He'd have to be a Royals, Braves, or Houston or Texas fan. I'd root for the Royals myself, Couldn't stand to see the Braves, 'Stros or Rangers cap on Magnum.

2008-04-03 03:09:09 PM
The guy who made "Dodgeball" is doing this?

Nevermind, I won't even bother watching. What next, going to have the guy who made "Meet the Spartans" making a movie based on Hawaii Five-O? Or the "Scary Movie" folks doing a movie based on Dragnet?

I'd watch a Sidney Lumet take on the Naked Gun movies...

homerdrew415: Though I'd never believe M.M. as a Detroit Tigers fan

He's a big Texas fan (the university), so I'd assume he'd pull for Houston or the Rangers.

Get Edward Norton and be done with it.

I'd gouge my eyes out if Magnum was a Ranger or Astro fan...

Ed Norton for every role. Magnum was beleuiveable (Selleck) as a smart guy...McCOnnoghey, not so much.

Ice Cube should be TC...lol, Giovanni Ribisi should be Rick and Madonna should be the old british butler, Higgins.

homerdrew415: I'd gouge my eyes out if Magnum was a Ranger or Astro fan...

Well if he wore an old-school Astros hat... maybe. That still seems more of a TC kind of hat... but what can you do?

2008-04-03 03:15:35 PM
Morgan Freeman as TC (okay, maybe he's a bit old, but meh).

Hey, if we're going to have the guy who made Dodgeball make this, we'd better at least have some damn fine acting.

2008-04-03 03:19:56 PM
And I'd certainly accept Giamatti as Higgins.

2008-04-03 03:24:02 PM
Whoever plays Higgins, he's going to have to be a hard core Falklands vet..

2008-04-03 03:25:57 PM
I just had a stroke of genius, or just a stroke - McConaughey in a TV version of THE BIG LEBOWSKI!

bukketmaster: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!111111!!!

Agree. *weeps* Please, God, no.

I'd rather have the original cast and do a what-happened-in-the-last-twenty-years than have McGag-a-heehee play the role.

Besides, Tom Selleck's still easy on the eyes. Oh, my, yes.

///if they go through with this, it's going to bomb big time

2008-04-03 03:30:04 PM
They could just do this movie, imagining that all the actors aged... then, Freeman as TC, Higgins can be Anthony Hopkins, and Magnum can be Burt Reynolds (okay, that one may be a bit silly...).

Perhaps it's time to get the prescription adjusted.

Oh, no. You haven't looked lately.

Or is he just not your type? :)

Tom Selleck is still alive! And a better actor than what's-his-rom-com-face.

I like his voice and his sense of humor. I'm not repulsed by him.

But if I wanted to pet a bear, I'd go to the zoo.

Eric Idle or John Cleese as Higgins. You know, since they're going to make it into a goofy movie anyways.

I'm pretty sure they don't let you pet the bears at the zoo.

/Unless your zoos are more awesome than the ones around here.

They might- if only for the crowd entertainment value.

/Our zoos are woefully underfunded.
