This could really ruin the economy there, just when the Automakers were making a comeback with their newest line of SUVs...

This doesn't sully any image, it merely reinforces the image of apathy. As long as the garbage gets picked up, the people simply don't care.

At least he's not smoking crack.

Maybe it's time for him to start. Isn't this the point in the scandal where an addiction of some kind gets blamed for eveything?

The garbage is getting picked up? Really? Wasn't there some big "clean up" thing that U-M students did a week or two ago, because of the lack of bulk garbage pick-up?

Detroit needs an enema. The council, everybody, has got to go.

Until the idiots in the city stop with the corruption and all the partisan, race-baiting, city-baiting (if you live in the area you grit you teeth like I do when they talk about the "Suburbanites" all the time, stupid crap, it's never ever going to get better.

Move to Dundee, instead. It's less than an hour down the road, allows you to work in either Detroit or Ann Arbor, and you can get a $4000+ sq. ft. house for about $175,000. And it's actually a NICE place. ;)

I honestly love Detroit. For all the crap that it's been through in it's history (all of the corruption, racism) you have to love the poor old city. Kilpatrick needs to go, but I fear that they will replace him with someone equally inept. The city is full of desperate people (rightly so) who look to someone flashy and young to come in and help them. I think this is why Kilpatrick has made it this far.

"Sure they are going to use that right now, but they are doing the same thing with New York," he said. "Any city that has issues with leadership is going to be the butt of jokes."

Yeah... not really. You might have missed the fact that it was the governor of New York State not the mayor of New York City that was involved in a sex scandal. And if anything, it only reinforced the idea that New York politicians are sleazy. That's better than reinforcing the idea that Detroit is an abandoned, crime-ridden city that has been on the decline for 40+ years.

Oh goody...lets draw stupid conclusion from a sample size of one.

Did you hear once a President got shot at a play? Guess we need to shut down Broadway, knuclehead.

Look, Detroit is a shiat hole...there is A LOT wrong with Detroit, but it is light year's better than it was 5, 10 years ago.

Fortune 5000 corporations and numerous small and large businesses have or are volunteering to move downtown and their employees aren't going apeshiat...that would have NEVER happened 10 years ago.

People are building AND buying $200-$500K luxury lofts right in the middle of downtown...that would have NEVER happened 10 years ago.

Ford Field, Comerica Park, Fox Theater, the new Art Museum...all brand spanking new or virtually updated from the ground up in the last few year...again 4 things that NEVER would have happened 10 years ago.

3 very nice, very swanky, very state-of-the art casinos that are getting rave reviews and are pulling in tourists, conventioneers and tax dollars by the millions...they NEVER would have been built 10 years ago.

A multi-billion dollar airport that rocks...that NEVER would have been built 10 years ago.

Yes, Kwame is Exhibit A what is wrong with Detroit, Detroit voters and Detroit residents...however thousands of people from the metropolitan area that totals over 7 million people routinely come downtown for activities, restaurants, casinos, sporting events, culture, art, etc...and that NEVER happened 10 years ago...

You can't rebuild Atlanta in a day...you can't change a farking disaster of a city overnight...but STFU with your "reality is far worse I assure you" bullshiat...because it's just not true and anyone who has been around Detroit routinely for over a decade can tell you...it was a hell of a lot worse 10 years ago.

The 1/2 square mile that makes up the Fox Theater district or stadiums is NOT the majority of Detroit. They are more like fiefdoms with their own private security army to protect them.

Take a stroll in Delray or Brightmoor after hours and make that same statement. I used to live in Warrendale before it got REALLY bad and I had multiple break-ins in 6 months.

On second thought, ignore my suggestion. I'd rather not be guilty of throwing you directly into Darwin's outstretched arms.
