Just looked up his IMDB profile, and saw his new project. (new window) The premise sounds like a cross between Johnny Mnemonic and The Matrix.

Can't the Justice League producers just wait a year for "Smallville" to finish its last season and make Tom Welling Superman? I mean, fark, Christopher Reeve said Welling was the new Superman. When Superman passes the torch, you should listen.

Why don't they make him a bad guy? He seems more natural for it.

Hayden whatever is a big whiney baby and douchebag.

Batman>Superman because batman was self farking made. He had to earn his shiat. It's like some Horatio Alger shiat except he was rich to begin with, but he still became a superhero on his own.

If you've never heard of neuromancer, well... That's where I got my screename.

That being said, I doubt the posting is for real. I somehow doubt that they'd give the grandfather of the cyberpunk genre to a director who's only done one movie (Torque) and a bunch of music videos.

Plus, for a movie supposedly due out in 2 years, there's nobody else attached to the film.

God I hope this isn't for real.

Hayden Christensen is ruining Necromancer, Star Wars AND Superman?!

How does that guy keep getting work? He's not big enough a name to guarantee ticket sales, and he ruins every project he touches.

You certainly earned your nickname, with this big case of FAIL.

/reread Neuromancer recently, much better than it was the first time around

Yeah, it sounds like a total ripoff of Johnny Mnemonic and The Matrix. And Minority Report as well. And Paycheck. I hear there's even a bad ass chick in black leather who's a direct ripoff of Trinity and Aeon Flux.

*SMACK*
It's Neuromancer, jackass!11!!1oneone!

...anyway, they could cast Jonah Hill as Superman for all I care, just so they keep Christian Bale away from this abortion.

Jedi_Templar: //Snow Crash is still a better cyberpunk book, though

I'm going to disagree here, although it's very, very close. The first time you read Gibson, it's like each paragraph is a work of art. Snow Crash has some "that's f*cking awesome!" passages (including my personal favorite passage about being the baddest motherfarker in the world), but most of it's imagery owed it's existence to Neuromancer and some Phillip K Dick work.

I just watched him in Jumper. His acting is pretty stiff and wooden (*snicker*!), but I'm still not sure if a shiatty script is to blame or just bad acting, or both. Even Sam L Jackson was wasted in his role.

So when the first Superman killed himself, they should have stopped making all Superman movies/shows ever?

Um I'm pretty sure the Justice League movie itself is doing that on its own, they don't need any help.

THIS. Stick a fork in Smallville, it's dead. Superman Returns? Ugh, no need to stick in a fork in it since it's decomposed.

Take the good actors from Smallville (Welling and Rosenbaum) and get going!

Superman has to be able to speak confidently. Chistensen can't do that.

Well, that's just full of win. Why doesn't he just team up with Keanu Reeves and destroy cyberpunk as we know it forever?

Then they can go on to destroy, oh, X-Men or whatever, and leave us with nothing at all.

Damn. I thought Paul Giamatti had that sewed up.

Which are you, a troll or a farking retard? Johnny Mnemonic is based on a short story that's a spinoff from Neuromancer, and the Matrix.. well, the Matrix is about 40% lifted from Neuromancer, 30% from The Invisibles, 20% from Dark City, and the rest from various other sources.

What next, some biatch complaining that The Hobbit is ripping off Willow?

So lets get this straight:
Hayden Christensen, a Canadian who portrays and actor without actually acting, is ruining Superman, which was written by a Canadian who moved to America, AND Neuromancer, written by an American who moved to Canada? NOOOO!!!!

\Hayden Christensen was "discovered" when his older sister Hejsa, a former trampoline champion, was shopping around for an agent after she landed a role in a Pringles potato chips commercial.

\\In 1967, William Gibson elected to move to Canada in order "to avoid the Vietnam war draft". At his draft hearing, he informed interviewers honestly that his intention in life was to sample every mind-altering substance in existence.

\\\Superman's alter ego Clark Kent worked for the Daily Star newspaper, named by Shuster after the Toronto Daily Star, his old employer. According to an interview he gave a few months before his death, he modeled the cityscape of Superman's home city, Metropolis, on that of his old hometown.

\\\\I'm not smart, I'm Wikipedia savy

BWAAA, you don't understand Hollywood logic.

"Hey, we're doing a movie on the great cyberpunk book."
"Oh, so you mean we'll get a ton of geeks to show up no matter what. Fark spending money on a script, actual actors or a good director, find some fool who's got nothing better to do and make some nonsensical crap. They'll have to come, it's Neuromancer."

How else do you explain Uwe Boll?

I thought it was Lucas himself that ruined Star Wars. I have no love for Hayden in the films, but he was good in Life as a House. Probably that was Mediocre Actor + Great Director = Good Performance. Whereas Star Wars was Mediocre Actor + Bad Director + Bad Script= Suck.

2008-03-30 10:19:02 AM
Jumper could have been a better movie without him

Well as someone pointed out in an earlier thread on the same topic, Chase was supposed to be little nobody. Still, it would be nice if he was a little nobody who could act.
