Yes, kids, those are the rules and you had better learn to live with them.

That professor has probably been to dozens of classes that teach him what is acceptable to say to his cow orkers. So, the "stupid" tag must be for him, right?

I guess he should have told her about the pubic hair on her Coke, then he'd have gotten promoted.

Isn't it interesting that if you tell a female co-worker she looks "hot" (which can reasonably interpreted as a compliment) you're in big trouble. But if you tell he she looks terrible you're not breaking any rules.

You could say, "I like the costume, but it makes you look fat, and those glasses really draw too much attention to your nose," and the only thing you're guilty of is incredible rudeness and insensitivity. But the moment you come out with, "Wow, you look hot," you've put your job in extreme jeopardy.

Wow subby... You failed on this one.

First off your headline is misleading. The article actually says this:

Garza also said another woman looked "hot" in her Halloween costume in the presence of female co-workers, and told another female co-worker that she "looked good," and that if he were a drinking man he would ask her out for a drink, the complaint said.

So he was almost asking out the co-worker, not the woman in the Halloween costume.

On top of that there is this:

According to a complaint filed in January, Garza allegedly told a male co-worker that if he hired a certain female job applicant, she would "service him in his office."

And then there is this:

In the previous complaint, filed in July 2006, a female co-worker accused Garza of coming on to her during a business trip to Washington, kissing her on the temple, and making racially offensive comments about her husband and stepchildren, who are Anglo.

Garza allegedly told the woman that she should "stop playing mommy to a bunch of white kids," and not to give up on Mexican men. A co-worker reported that Garza seemed obsessed with the woman's family life and even suggested she leave her husband because he was "a loser."

I take it that the "stupid" tag is for the professor?

There's a lot of overreacting going on in this world, but it seems pretty clear that this guy is a boorish douchebag.

As someone who gives sexual harassment seminars at my company, I am getting a preemptive kick out of these responses.

The times, they already done changed.

So it's sexual harrassment to ask a coworker out on a date? *Sigh* No wonder there are so many sad, lonely people in this world. The place where you spend more time than anywhere else during the day and you can't even try to do that which is most important - find companionship. It's not like he was pinching asses or looking at porn, guys.

this. headline had me going in thinking "aw, he doesn't sound like such a bad guy." but these other snippets add a little more to the equation.

Epsilon: "hot" (which can reasonably interpreted as a compliment)

Yeees, but so can so many things. I thought "hot" had a bit of a sexual connotation, doesn't sound incredibly workplace appropriate to me. Saying someone's got an awesome ass is a compliment as well, but FFS don't say it to a co-worker you're not already shagging.

According to the article, the dude was guilty of habitual douchebaggery. The tag should certainly apply to him.

"I've kept my mouth shut about the recent sexual harrassment complaints because I don't think it's fair to punish a man for making small talk... or, say, asking his secretary to, just once, dress up as a geisha girl and call him 'Kelso-san'."

Only if you repeatedly ask, having been told no. You know, same as any other kind of harassment, you retard.

It's only sexual harassment if you're ugly.

COULD it be because most Halloween costumes for women these days are designed to make them look like sluts?

Lived there about 7 years. It's hard not to have fun if you even try. Plenty to do and see; always something going on.

Try Los Barrios for the best meal in town; it's a couple of miles inside loop 410 on Blanco.

In other words, keep your thoughts to yourself. if you have to voice them, do it in a place where no one can hear you. *bullshiat, that sux*, but ya gotta do it.

Who among us hasn't thought "She/he looks hot, has a good personality and smells really good. I would LOVE to be closer to that"?

People just piss on each other too much.

I work on a college campus, and there's the same kind of gossipy chatter there you'd find anywhere else. There's a big difference between casual, even a bit flirty, comments, and what this guy is accused of: saying he'd hire someone and then expect sexual favors, kissing a coworker uninvited, telling a female coworker to stop "playing mommy" to her children and to leave her husband. That stuff makes him an asshat.

/has been hit on by professors but always politely.

FTFY. Don't make comments about someone else's appearance in the workplace, especially if you are that person's superior.
