Being a IT proffesional myself, I agree there should be a level of discretion on what a Tech can and cannot say, to other people on the job and at the clients office, not the authorities. We can't be above the law because we are not preists. If the man was dumb enough to get that sort of thing on his Work PC the man needs to get smacked by the pimp hand of justice, espeiclaly since he was working for a university. Besides, asuming he downloaded at work, which the article didn't say, their Network monitoring center has a record of the traffic anyways. He's Farked in either case.

Finding child porn on a computer doesn't mean the user put it there. You can easily get your computer infected with a virus that lets outsiders take it over, and pedo rings have been known to use botnets of compromised machines for housing their crap so as to avoid putting incriminating stuff on their own machines. Only a complete forensic analysis has a prayer of determining how something got on a machine, and maybe not even then. This guy is innocent until somebody proves that he's the party responsible for what they found.
