I've had it with these motherfarking snakes on this motherfarking plane.

There, I said it. Can we end the thread now, please?

Badger badger badger badger?

At least it wasn't a trouser snake.

How the hell did it get past the baggage screeners? Oh, right, cause the money we put into securing our airports did just about jack.

Snakes? In my vagina? I don't think that would be very likely.

Gohansdad666: This is clearly not a rattlesnake

That's some fine journalism there guys...

Almost like an article about a robber or murder with a picture of some random person with the caption. "This is clearly not the murderer/robber."

Correction: FTA: "Fire and rescue workers took the suitcase outside, opened it and blasted the snake, a juvenile canebrake rattler, with a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher. The chemical froze the animal to death."

They probably saw it and said "well, they didn't cover snakes in our 15 mins of training, so it's probably fine", closed the suitcase back up and sent it on its way.

I used to hunt deer and turkey down near Charleston, SC.

I once heard one rattle, but could not see it.

Canebrakes scare me.

That is all.

Massive fail! Unless we are being screened on road trips now.

FTA: Snake was NEARLY A FOOT LONG. Not Two-foot long as subby suggested.

this is eerily familiar

Since this was reported on a UK website, I assume the vacationer flew from South Carolina to the UK, then back to Arlington County (wherever that is) while his rowing team paddled the boat home.

Maybe I missed a detail or two in the finely crafted article.

/Why, oh why, don't they ever list the City, State, or even the Country that the story took place in? It's not like the Intertubes are read by people in other parts of the globe (pet peeve du jour)

The paragraph after the break says, "Fire and rescue workers took the suitcase outside, opened it and blasted the snake, a juvenile canebrake rattler, with a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher."

FAIL

Headline is not the same as article: one of the primary tenets of Fark.

What part of "road trip" do you not understand?

2008-03-26 12:02:19 PM
well should have looked that up first, apparently eastern rattlesnakes are also referred to as canebrake rattlesnakes, have never heard them referred to as such

Why did they have to kill it? Couldn't they have called a wildlife rangler? It was contained in the suitcase. No rush to get it out.

So we have a Farker working at ABCNews. That clears it up. :/

I tried finding the story elsewhere to clear up whether it was a road trip or plane trip. None of the other sites indicated either mode of transportation.

Because they were idiots.

And that image in the article looks like a Green Tree Python. I could be wrong, due to the caffeine that is not in my blood stream yet.
