FromTheSideBar: Ulrika Jonsson's ample cleavage drew more attention than an issue she was trying to raise in a TV appearance today. The former weather girl showed she is wearing pregnancy well with a low-cut top revealing her bounteous bust

Tits and tortugas. How tasty!

Fifteen years before you can say "it's a girl!" or "it's a boy!" ??? That's weird. I do notice that they're referring to the little turtle as "he."

How sexist.
not really

As much as I hate to say it, I was thinking the same thing as dwalder.

That baby turtle is going to outlive all of us... and possibly most of our kids.

Think about it.

Ick. She has that California dry leather skin look from too much tanning.

I visited the Zurich zoo in December of 2003. The main lesson I learned is that penguin poop smells terrible, and that I was a farking idiot to visit a zoo in an alpine country in the dead of winter.

/the Lindt factory smelled good, however

i love tortoises. i almost bought one once, but then it occurred to me that i'd eventually have to move somewhere where he could live outside year round once he got too big.

and i really like the north east.

Uhm, am I the only one who caught the 'tragedy' of 120 kills since 1990?

That's 120 in 18 years. or 6 and 2/3 a year.

I love the tortioses. They're awesome to watch, and fun to play with (volunteered at a zoo where they let me feed and help care for 'em), and I love to watch them eat (Gal + banana = teh win).

But 6 or 7 killed per year, even given very slow reproduction rates/chances, and slow sexual maturity rates, is...kinda blah.

Did I miss something? Why is there only one? Did they fry the rest of the eggs for breakfast or give them away to other zoos?

fta: Seventy may seem rather old to be reproducing, but the Galapagos tortoise doesn't reach sexual maturity until it is 25, and can live to be more than 150 years old

That puts it well ahead of most farkers.

I see nothing "ugly ass" about the adorable little creature I am feasting my eyes upon!

As do I. That's an awesome picture in addition to being really cute.

Here's a little guy I just got as a rehab case. He's a Desert tortoise and he probably hatched late last summer or in the early fall. In this picture, he's next to a US quarter.

He won't get nearly as big as a Galapagos, of course.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww *gasps for breath* aaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

There was a zoo near my house that had some baby Galapagoses, but way bigger than this little guy. They were so beautiful, it just made me cry to see them.
