Maybe you should do a little investigation as to what the flag stands for.

I stopped in seventh grade. Had to go to the office and explain to the principal and vice principal why. They finally said it was ok as long as I stood up.

Stuffed it down her pants? What the hell kind of protest is that?

What ever happened to burning it? Crazy kids these days.

I believe once you fight for the country, the flag becoems a symbol of everything you yourself have sacrificed...so in short, yes I believe the word "rescue" was used properly.

Hero tag stays intact

all the good names are gone: I live on Tinker AFB so I am really getting a kick out of these replies...

I commend the Marine on his actions on saving our nations flag from those worthless piece of sh*t. If he were not 20, and I saw him in Bricktown some night, I would buy him a few drinks.

As for the rest of you saying it's just a piece of cloth... I have nothing to say.

===================================

The Marines around you supposedly have been fighting to protect this woman's right to free speech. The fact that you can't see that... I have nothing to say.

after looking at some of the "protesters"--i'm sure that flag isn't fit to be run up a flag ploe--maybe they should run the farking protester up the pole by her coont/......

CarnySaur: So is it okay to reach into a woman's pants if you only suspect them of containing an American flag?
(crosses fingers)

*slap*

Get your hands outta my pants. That isn't a flag.

LouDobbsAwaaaay: That being said, if said Marine were to grab a sharp object and stab these people to death, they'd better not put me in the jury. Because I'd let him walk. No joke.
====================================

So, in your world the sentence for being "unpatriotic" is death?

=======================================

Really? So I can kill a mutherfarker if I get mad? What else can be done that they'll excuse because I was "emotional"?

Actually, emotions at the time of a killing are considered as aggravating or mitigating factors.

I think they do actually lighten your sentence if you kill someone under extreme emotional distress...just make sure that if you're gonna use it as an excuse, that you're yelling "ARRRRGHHHH! DRO ANGRY! DRO MUST KILL!!!!" while you do it, so everybody thinks you've gone nuts

I'm pretty sure the DA is not beholden to "cops" as to what charges to file. ANy legal eagles out there?

"At the heart of the First Amendment is the recognition of the fundamental importance of the free flow of ideas and opinions on matters of public interest and concern. The freedom to speak one's mind is not only an aspect of individual liberty -- and thus a good unto itself -- but also is essential to the common quest for truth and the vitality of society as a whole. We have therefore been particularly vigilant to ensure that individual expressions of ideas remain free from governmentally imposed sanctions."

Fark fails at the 1st Amendment. Again.

I think it wouldn't be first-degree murder if it weren't premeditated, so it's still a mitigating factor.

Of course, I may just watch too much TV.

Biff Spiffy: Good for him. This is the first time I heard the term 'flag worshiper' and while I don't consider myself one of those, I think it should be treated with respect. There are a brazillian ways to make a point, but sadly most people go for the most inflammatory gestures.

You do not have the right to stop a protest simply because you view it as "inflammatory".

kronicfeld: "Rescued"? Really? It's a f*cking piece of cloth. You don't "rescue" a piece of cloth, particularly when it belongs to someone else, and you're attempting to forcibly remove it from their person.

I really don't give a shiat what you think, anyone who does something to these farktards gets a check-plus in my book.

I completely agree with what he did, and think the DA should charge him. Laws exist even for instances when you agree with the law breaker. Also it would be nice to see a jury acquit.

It isn't because they are unpatriotic. It's because they are scum of the Earth whose absence would make the world a better place.

They are on my short-list of people for whom I'd have to excuse myself from being a juror in their murder trial.

No, not really. See, if you don't know the words, then you are just not saying to try to be cool which makes you not cool. If you know the words and you have issues with them or the concepts behind them, then you are sticking to your ideals rather than following groupthink, which makes you cool.

They say the craziest shiat possible, hoping to get someone to slip up and infringe on their rights, and then sue away. Logic doesn't come into the equation.

Actually, that's more comforting to know than to think these morans actually would believe this. If they're just doing it for the possible cash from a lawsuit, then that means they're kinda normal. I did say "kinda".

Worst example of patriotism ever.

Some marine gets angry because someone disrespects the flag he's been taught to worship. He ignores police requests, steals the flag and then is congratulated by the government by not being prosecuted.

I love America and this is one of the most disrespectful things I have heard in respect to freedom.

2008-03-19 01:08:31 PM
Normally I'd be pissed at the cops/DA deliberately 'looking away' at the oppression of free speech. However, in this case the westboro people are such asshats, I agree with the Hero tag.

/Just gotta know though, how far down her pants did he have to go to 'rescue' the flag?

kronicfeld: "Rescued"? Really? It's a f*cking piece of cloth. You don't "rescue" a piece of cloth, particularly when it belongs to someone else, and you're attempting to forcibly remove it from their person.

Tis said when people mistake the symbol of a thing for the thing. i think flag desecration sucks, but free speech is more important than my distaste.

Please find other ways to express yourself than doing stupid shiat with our flag. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Part of what that flag represents is freedom of speech, when you shiat on it because of what it represents, you're shiatting on free speech too. So grow up and think of clever ways of expressing yourself. Maybe even try something... original.

As for the marine, yeah dude, i get that you're pissed. But that's what they want. When you do this kinda crap in response to that kind of crap, you've giving them what they want. And worse yet, you're denying someone their rights... which you are supposed to be protecting. This isn't Russia.

Y2Jericho: Wasn't it, at one time, illegal to desecrate a flag?

It is something that should never be illegal. There is a long proud history of flag burning in this country, it stretches back to the Revolution when leaders burned flags and effigies of King George. It remains one of the most American forms of non-violent protest.

2008-03-19 01:09:25 PM

Doesn't the sort of creep anyone else out? That some yokel police chief can get charges against someone dropped because he really doesn't like you?

A crime is a crime, and if you want to make people like Westboro go away, stop paying attention to them, stop trying to stop them, and stop covering them in the media.

This guy needs to take a lesson from the Patriot Guard. All they ever do is get in between the protesters and the protestees, as to minimize the disturbance to the family...this guy crossed a line.
