What about Go?
2001-08-08 12:23:35 AM
Mr. Zoo you kick ass sir.
2001-08-08 12:32:21 AM
I agree with that list entirely. Although I would've liked to see Kick the Can in the No. 2 spot.
2001-08-08 12:32:55 AM
Wait, I guess that means I don't agree with the list entirely then. Anyhow...
2001-08-08 12:33:38 AM
I like to play crack the whip after a nice game of quarters.
2001-08-08 12:35:58 AM
Myself, I preferred "Kick the Can II - Tin apocalypse", but only because it had a better combat system.

No Tetris? Heresy!

This doesn't really belong here, but the fate of nations has been decided by games of rampart.
2001-08-08 01:10:23 AM

Indeed, it is so. Rampart is doubleplusgood.
2001-08-08 01:15:17 AM
what about strip hungry hungry hippos or pocket pool?
2001-08-08 01:16:53 AM
It's all about Risk.
2001-08-08 01:23:47 AM
WTF, no Risk? Thats one of my top 10 favorite non computer games right there. Also you have monopoly missing, what were you thinking.
2001-08-08 01:32:01 AM
Like I said, Two Words... OREGON TRAIL BABY!!!!

What happened to smear the queer?
2001-08-08 01:59:37 AM
what is mancala?
2001-08-08 02:06:55 AM
Diplomacy! DIPLOMACY!!!!!
Alright, I suspect few of you played it. It's like risk without the dice in a WWI setting. And it works, I tell you!

Rampart should definitely have been on there.

Ok, I'm only 20, but I have to say it. Where the fark is bridge??
2001-08-08 02:07:15 AM
Blatant Omissions: Monopoly, Black Jack, reading Fark :)
2001-08-08 02:14:07 AM
The #1 game of all time----BOOBIES!!!!!
2001-08-08 02:15:39 AM
Boobies is not a game, boobies should be taken seriously, for some it's the reason for living :)
2001-08-08 02:17:02 AM
Not a bridge player, eh? Pity.
2001-08-08 03:55:38 AM
I'm with Weezer22 - wtf is Mancala?
2001-08-08 04:03:37 AM
2GE: Thank you for saying that before I got to it. Diplomacy, the King of Board Games. Although nowadays I guess you could almost call it a computer game, thanks to the email-judges. Are you playing those? It's so difficult to get 7 motivated people together for a weekend to play one game through...
2001-08-08 04:04:15 AM
What about the penis game?!
You take turns saying "penis" in a public place, getting louder and louder. The person that says it the loudest wins.
2001-08-08 04:40:43 AM
For those wondering about Mancala, here's a single player java-based version:

Great game!
2001-08-08 05:09:05 AM
We used to enjoy playing Library M.I. (mission impossible) back in the day. Your buddy sits in the magazine section while you plant written clues in certain books throughout the library, using page numbers, genre types, even under the stall in the bathroom and in wheel-wells of the book-mobile. Then you set a timer & see if your opponent can trace all the clues before time runs out.

Great way to spend an afternoon stoned in the library
2001-08-08 05:13:33 AM
I neglected to mention, the game starts by swooping by & dropping the first clue in the magazine your opponent is reading, then vanishing by the Xerox machine
2001-08-08 05:19:05 AM
what about strip poker?
2001-08-08 05:25:00 AM
..or 'Up The River, Down The River'?..

Naked Twister
2001-08-08 07:08:26 AM
What, no kerplunk?
2001-08-08 08:07:28 AM
Malinois: Just played that 'Mancala' game - no idea what I was doing, just clicked on stones at random. Won 32-16. Try that with a chess game :-)
2001-08-08 08:26:36 AM
Mouse trap?? What a lame game. All one ever does is set up the trap and it rarely if ever works. What about shooting marbles, "Ghost in the graveyard", "Statue maker", "Red Rover", "Mother may I". All classic childhood games.
2001-08-08 08:54:09 AM
Stretch Red Rover was awesome! I liked that game despite the fact that I was the 98lb weakling that everyone picked to charge at. Every now and then, a big kid would get a knee right were it counts to remind him to pick on somone his own size. Ahhh all in good fun of course.

Gotta love Capture the Flag. Hell, I still play that but, now I use paintguns too.

I put a warning in the other thread that this was a pre-release version of the list for farkers only. A few notes:
- I have deliberately omitted computer games from the list, as the other list dealt entirely in computer games. I originally intended to leave only Zork in, but accidentally took it out and put Pong in. Again, wait for version 0.12. So, that's your answer for Tetris, Oregon Trail, etc. They are worthy games, however.
- Monopoly was an inadvertant omission and will be included in version 0.12
- Some of you wonder about the omission of poker, bridge, euchre, canasta, etc. There are enough good card games that there could be a 50 best of them alone, so I decided to avoid having to compare apples to oranges (bridge vs. chess) by omitting card games.
- Dodgeball- I didn't think of that. It's going in.
- Z1armedman: Risk = #44. A bit low for some people's taste, I know. This is a work in progress. I appreciate all input.
- Hungry, Hungry Hippos, so many others: I'll make a notable mention list
- Red Rover, Mother May I: I have bad childhood memories of these. Sorry. I'll put these on the notable mention list
- Stretch: Marbles = 29.
- Some of your childhood games are ones I never knew. I have no idea what "Ghost in the graveyard", "Statue maker", "ally ally over" all mean nothing to me, unfortunately. Perhaps, if we really care, I could make this into something dynamic and we could turn this into a public thing with voting and stuff.
- watch for version 0.12

No Foosball?
2001-08-08 10:30:12 AM
a list of computer games would be cool, though...Pac Man would have to top that list. Then Missile Command, Donkey Kong, and Space Invaders. All classics.
2001-08-08 11:01:12 AM
Wiffle Ball? Jenga? Don't Break the Ice? Operation?

I forgot all about Kerplunk...that game was actually pretty fun.
2001-08-08 11:05:19 AM
I need to vote on these. Mancala is way too high IMO. Someone needs to put together a list that we can vote on. I would do it but I am an "idea man" - it is up to someone else to make this happen.
Back to the thinktank...
