In fact, global warming gets blamed for a lot of shiat

There was an interesting article in Physics Today this month (the magazine published by the American Institute of Physics, or something like that. I get it since I'm an astronomer). Anyway, it was about the potential impact of the sun on global climate change, in particular solar cycles of flaring, etc. The authors found a potentially significant correlation between solar activity and the global temperature anomaly. By this, I mean that they were able to find that the cross-correlation between some proxy for the sun's activity and the temperature anomaly was significant. It even remained significant when they shuffled the data around to remove any potential autocorrelation in the sun's cycle or the earth's temperature anomaly.

That doesn't mean that the greenhouse effect doesn't play a role. But, they claimed that, depending on the model used, up to ~ 70% of the global temperature anomaly could be caused by solar activity.
