2002-11-05 08:15:40 AM
I'm voting twice.

2002-11-05 08:16:35 AM
"Voting enabled"?

2002-11-05 08:17:19 AM
Damn straight.

Get out and vote before George Bush outlaws it.

2002-11-05 08:18:11 AM
Hmm.....
Lautenberg or Forrester......

Can't vote, as I moved and didn't re-register in time for this election. Besides there's no one to vote for.

2002-11-05 08:19:06 AM
We have early voting in Florida now, so I was able to vote first thing yesterday morning.

It's going to be a real clusterfark all over the state today, the average voter is taking 10 minutes to complete the ballot.

2002-11-05 08:20:08 AM
I'm just glad my guy is going to finally straighten out our schools...and the environment...and end crime, just like that guy four years ago...and four years before...and before...and before that...

2002-11-05 08:20:12 AM
Ironbar - ..and you know he would, being as he did his damndest to take the contested 2000 election as an opportunity to change America's electoral laws.

Oh, wait....

2002-11-05 08:20:33 AM
also don't forget that it won't make a blind bit of difference who you vote for with the american political system as it is

Kang: The politics of failure have failed. We need to make them work again. Tomorrow, when you are sealed in the voting cubicle, vote for me, Senator Ka... Bob Dole.
[applause]

Kodos: I am looking forward to an orderly election tomorrow, which will eliminate the need for a violent blood bath.
[applause]

Vote for the candidate with the least offensive commercial.

That could be a dilemma, they're all too offensive.

31 Reasons to vote!

from Some guy!

1. You believe that a majority of voters has the right to impose their will on everyone else through the use of force.

2. You want to steal from other people and/or force them to do certain things, but you'd rather have someone else point the gun for you.

3. You believe that the State is legitimate, and want to provide legitimacy to it for the next two to six years.

4. You believe that democracy is a legitimate decision-making process, and don't mind being bound by the results.

5. You believe that voting will protect you from government or slow the growth of the State.

6. You want to live in a political society instead of a civil society.

7. You prefer to wield political power because you're too lazy to work for social power.

8. You want the politicians to have a mandate and to be able to say, "The people have spoken!"

9. You don't mind if the government helps you decide by narrowing your choices for you.

10. You're a follower who needs to be led, and believe that everyone else needs "leaders" who are selected by a majority of the voters.

11. You believe that millions of people gave their lives to defend your right to vote.

12. You want to honor the victims of 9/11, who were killed because some foreigners didn't like the fact that we live in a democracy.

13. You believe that voting is the way to make your voice heard, and that politicians hear your voice when you vote.

14. You believe that if your candidate wins, you will get what you want, just like you want it.

15. You like the way that politicians have been running things, and want to send them back for more.

16. You believe that politicians will keep their campaign promises.

17. You don't believe that power will corrupt politicians once they're in office.

18. You trust the politicians you vote for, and believe they care about you.

19. Your government school taught you that voting is a privilege.

20. You like to exercise your freedom-to choose your master.

21. You believe that your vote will affect the outcome of an election.

22. You believe that voting fraud won't affect the outcome of an election.

23. You believe that the new touch-screen voting machines are reliable, tamper-proof, and leave an adequate paper trail in case the results are contested.

24. You're proud to wear the "I voted" sticker that they give you after you vote.

25. George W. Bush said that it's your duty to vote.

26. The president's wife or mother called you and asked you to vote.

27. You get a rush out of wielding political power.

28. You think that a politician is cute, or you like the way he kisses his wife, or you like the earth tones he wears, etc.

29. You saw a campaign sign that made you feel patriotic because of its flag motif, or that made you feel good because it had a catchy slogan on it, such as "the courage to lead" or "neighborhoods first."

30. The political ads on TV and radio that cater to the lowest common denominator don't insult your intelligence.

31. You don't mind your name and other personal information being on a government list, which will come in handy if the government wants to summon you for jury duty, draft you into the military, audit your income tax returns, collect information about you, or send you to an internment camp.

"Vote Early and Vote Often."

This message brought to you by the friends of Dave Early and the Jeff Often For Attorney General campaign.

2002-11-05 08:22:53 AM
Gator--that's because we have a ton of retarded amendments this year. i just don't understand why pregnant pigs can't be dealt with by regular laws. and what part of the state are you in that you have early voting? i've never heard of such a thing.

2002-11-05 08:23:32 AM
Except I still have not decided.

O'Brien?
Romney?
A glazed ham?

2002-11-05 08:23:46 AM
I got hepatitis so I can't vote.

2002-11-05 08:24:02 AM

keep it safe

RobbieFal, you're destroying my irrational exuberance. quit it.

2002-11-05 08:24:38 AM
How long until the poltical equivalent of a linux geek comes in here and starts screaming about the 2 party system, and "how we gotta change things, man...That's why you need to vote [Libertarian/Green,etc],man.

2002-11-05 08:24:44 AM
I have found this site to be very helpful for finding candidates in my area and to compare them. Entering the zip code gives a complete list and their responses if the candidates are likely to write back to querries (important if they serve the public.)

2002-11-05 08:26:37 AM
Vote for Torvalds!

2002-11-05 08:26:39 AM
I'm voting for Sweater Girl as a write-in, and I encourage everyone else to follow suit

2002-11-05 08:27:16 AM
How long till the equivalent of Eeyore the Donkey comes along to accuse anyone of voting independant of aiding the enemy?

2002-11-05 08:27:21 AM
Stubblyhead, the entire state has had early voting for a couple of weeks, it's a new thing this year. You have to go to an elections office to do it. I happened to be at the courthouse at 7:50 yesterday morning and was able to vote without waiting in line.

Re the pregnant pig amendment, I am voting in favor of it, and hoping it passes, to show how ridiculous the whole constitutional amendment process is. I was steamed when last time out, they got through that $8 billion bullet train fiasco through (we don't need no stinking trains in Florida, everybody drives).

2002-11-05 08:28:26 AM
Scotar- I wasn't saying don't vote 3rd party. I plan to today in a couple of races.

2002-11-05 08:29:01 AM
So... over/under on how many races will be decided by mass voter fraud..

I say 32 are decided that way, you guys?

Man, this 2 party system sux rox...we gotta do something about this (covering head in shame 'cuz I voted for Jesse Ventura)...

How's that?

2002-11-05 08:32:11 AM
Johnc98 - Oh, pardon me. I didn't imagine that someone who'd vote independant would say something like that, is all.

Scrotar- People like that just chap me- it's like any thread here about a virus or ie flaw and there is that one guy who starts in with "this never happens with linux" like it gives him more street cred or an extra amount of cool cache. There's always that one Libertarian or Greeny that does that too.

2002-11-05 08:40:04 AM
Jill Stein still looks like spiders live in her hair.

2002-11-05 08:44:13 AM
I would vote, but there are nothing but asshats on the ballot.

Doesn't matter anyway. Dubya lost, but he's in office. Ashcroft lost, he's in office. Obviously the public's choice doesn't matter.

No one qualified to run anything is dumb enough to run for office.

There.

ps: We don't live in a democracy. We live in a republic. There's a difference.

2002-11-05 08:46:07 AM
Kyosuke-
ps: We don't live in a democracy. We live in a republic. There's a difference.

Actually a democratic republic is what we live in.

Fifth Column,
I proclaimed my write-in vote for Sweater Girl in a previous thread. I ask all undecided Farkers to join us.

2002-11-05 08:58:32 AM
Warchild: You did? Jesus, last night is nothing but a blur of Popov, no-doze, kinky sex with asian twins, and that one boy scout thread

2002-11-05 09:00:30 AM
baked goods make voting better. mmm, floor pie....

2002-11-05 09:01:05 AM
I just looove all the liberal attitudes that get spit out on these threads... especially Robbie's reasons not to vote, which are not good reasons not to vote at all. Robbie, I really think you should sit down and look at those reasons long and hard and realize how wrong of an attitude they are...

Oh, and Kyosuke, Bush was voted in by the voters. Case closed. Enough people in the Electorial College voted for him. Popular vote doesn't matter. I mean, if you vote by the rules, and you don't get what you wanted, do you cry because you don't like the rules now? I mean, seriously.

2002-11-05 09:01:07 AM
I now officially hate elections and election day and politics and all of it.
Having to volunteer for a politician that is not organized and has offered me nothing to assist me in my efforts to help him... grrr...

And I wouldn't be doing this shiat, save for the fact that I have to do it for class... so I suppose I may just be screwed over...

Hope I can work something out with the professor.

Damn, Sweater Girl, You just saved the day. I know how I'm voting, with the exception of one candidate. I'm gonna do a write-in for Sweater Girl for that office.
Are you willing to move/serve?

Tell Katherine Harris that, she was too stupid to follow the rules when she wanted to run, then whined because she wanted an exception.

2002-11-05 09:05:51 AM
It is my understanding that it is illegal for dead people to vote. Therefore, I won't be going to the polls.

This Sweater Girl thing of Warchild's has me wishing blood still flowed in my veins, however.

2002-11-05 09:06:54 AM
Ironbar, if Kathy Harris didn't follow the rules, then she doesn't get to run. End of story.

Hey, I am not supporting people just because they are republicans. I support what is right. And, if you can't find a loophole to squeeze back in, well then, you are just out of luck.

2002-11-05 09:07:30 AM
As a resident of Missouri, I thought we won when Ashcroft lost. Little did we know his loss would make him much more evil than we could have possibly imagined. I blame Florida.

2002-11-05 09:07:55 AM
Good Morning Webelo, umm, I mean Hytes Xian

Get out and vote damnit!

2002-11-05 09:09:29 AM
I think I meant Webelos, right?

2002-11-05 09:11:36 AM
i'm headed cross-country. Plan to vote in every district i hit.

actually, no. I'll be here at the newspaper until the wee hours, waiting anxiously to find out how many people voted for whether the local Kroger can sell booze, and making a pie chart descibing the the yes/no vote.
yehaw.

2002-11-05 09:14:07 AM
Well I moved and got the OLD voter registration card yesterday. With the old location wayy downtown where I moved away from for a reason. And I have to RESEND my info back to them on my dime. Of course conveniently hopelessly out of time for this round of elections. And I don't have the fuel nor the inclination to go driving halfway across town in order to wait for 2 hours.

Make it easy for me and you have a voter.
Make it difficult and you can go F yourselves.

The one time I care and it gets snarled. Thank you!

2002-11-05 09:16:46 AM
Zzeuss

Why didn't you change your voter registration when you moved?

2002-11-05 09:17:42 AM
Zzeuss- you should move to a state like Minnesota or Wisconsin where we/they have same day voter registration. It's widely credited for allowing Jesse Ventura to win the 98 election in MN along with shooting down Norm Coleman's whoring for a new Twins stadium in 99.
