I can't believe it's his voice. IT's not the accent that gets me, its the actual pitch timbre, whatever you call it - there's almost no similarity at all.

Agreed. I watched 2 full episodes before I realized it was Hugh Laurie. It blew my mind.

Yes, he is. Search for "A bit of Fry and Laurie", "Blackadder", or "Jeeves and Wooster" clips on YouTube. That is Hugh Laurie's actual speaking voice. That's also actually him playing whenever House sits down at a piano or picks up his guitar.

The show is repetitive as sin, but Hugh Laurie is just addictive to watch. If he wasn't in that show, I would never have watched more than an episode or two.

S04E08 "You Don't Want to Know"
House even says "I finally have a case of Lupus." near the end of the episode.
