1) Gilligan's Island was actually kind of entertaining.

Are you saying that's similar or different from Lost?

I, for one, approve of their new Ginger

I've never seen Lost, and only a few episodes of Gilligan's Island over the years. The fact that I read that entire article leads me to the conclusion that I need a better way to fill my Saturday afternoons.

I finally got back into Lost recently. I've watched every episode (up until Thursday's) in the last two weeks.. it's definitely great, but I think in the fourth season, they are going too far. I like when episodes resolve themselves in less than 15 episodes!... but I hear there are two more seasons, so there will be plenty of complaining from now on.

They are similar in that they're both silly shows, the difference is that only one of them is trying to be silly.

I am unable to get a boner from Lost.

I made a prediction to a couple of my friends who are devoted watchers of Lost. I said the show would get too wierd, go too far into strangeness that they'd never be able to bring the thing back on track in time for a satisfactory ending. They scoffed.
Recently one of them admitted that the show seemed to be losing its steam and that it was "getting too wierd."
He also now does not recall my prediction. I'm not surprised.

I gained a new level of hatred (the good villain kind) for Ben this week. Underneath all the lies and brilliant machinations is a sniveling little shiat looking for companionship. What a great character.

Holy crap that scene was creepy. Ben is one of the characters keeping things interesting.

I'm still waiting for a satisfactory answer as to where the Hostiles came from, and why Ben teamed up with them to kill all the Dharma people. I have an idea, but there hasn't been any canonical confirmation yet.

The Whitmore revelation was unexpected, but it makes sense given that few other Lost characters (that don't get killed) are one-dimensional ... yet it raises a lot more specific questions (not the least of which is: why was Whitmore was so interested in the Hanso manuscript at the auction?).

Yeah, I'm a fan, and I do see things getting strange in S4. But I've read 2 or 3 interviews with the creators, and they assure the skeptical interviewers and fans that they'll have it all tied up at the end of the show. That they're even planning for an end is nice - it means less of a chance that it will fizzle out like The X-Files did (that show should have had no more than 6 seasons, IMO).

Gilligan's island, when looked at today, seems kind of stupid.

What a coincidence.

I thought the Whidmore connection was blatant for quite awhile, and figured he was just snatching up all the 'island' related items he could get his hands on.

itsdan: I thought the Whidmore connection was blatant for quite awhile, and figured he was just snatching up all the 'island' related items he could get his hands on.

I hadn't put a lot of thought into it, I guess. The clues were there, and I figured Charles would figure into the larger story later on, perhaps as a reluctant (or perhaps unwitting) financier of Penny's attempts to rescue Desmond. I suppose I waiting for another connection to be made to him outside of the Penny/Desmond arc during a flash sequence, and just surprised that they worked it in as a "real time" clue.

Good show - I look forward to the next couple of episodes.

I only ever saw one episode of Gilligan's Island. It was the one where they almost got off the island but that insipid fool, Gilligan, ruined it for everyone.

If I could, I would go to the island on Lost and shoot them all for being stupid. Then I would leave the island. Lost IS overrated.

simpsonfan: They are not the same. One show contains nonsensical plots and unbelievable characters. The other had Bob Denver in it.

I had a rule: Never watch a show about people on an island unless one of them was Gilligan. Then LOST came along, and it actually looked like it would be good. Survivors have to, well, survive. More than the seven from Gilligan, so more stories, interactions. Dramatic, rather than comedy. I watched it. It quickly got too stupid and wierd. Such a big place, and nobody ever heard of it. The fat guy stayed fat. Some people who should have gotten a smack in the face didn't. The fat guy stayed fat. I gave it up some time in the second season.

All the reruns didn't help. They should have aired it every other week, or some sort of a regular schedule so you would know when a new episode would be on. Even if a longer wait between new shows, it would be more tolerable if you knew how long the wait would be.

They answered your gripes, which is why this season, and the remaining two seasons were scheduled to be 16 episodes, airing every week. Then the writer's strike farked that up and they lowered it to only 13 episodes this season with a 4 week break coming after episode 8. The next two seasons should be 16 episodes from start to finish, and hopefully you wont have to watch a re-run ever again.

Your other complaints are kind of suspension of belief problems. Some people can buy into it, and others can't. It's all good. The show isn't for everyone. At least you aren't going OMGZ LOST FANS SUCKLOL POLARBEARZX? Those people are annoying.

/You're a cool Lost hater.

Odd, how you grabbed ratings during a period when Lost wasn't even being aired (re: Sunday Night Football).

The latest Nielson ratings have Lost at #10 on the list.

towatchoverme, if you are going to pull a despicable stunt like that, at least give the rest of us Farkers enough credit and don't make the lie so blatant, OK?
