If I knew it was that easy I'd start cutting out my own furniture...

It's too bad I'm so lazy. Seems cool though...

I can feel the comfort.

2008-03-06 01:44:54 AM

2008-03-06 01:45:38 AM
Well that was lame. At least I know making these gave a girl sweaty pits.

Dr. Seuss.

Looks brown to me.

Not anything new, I took a course in design 13 years ago that had catalogs and catalogs full of this garbage.

It truly sucked then, and with the drastic increase in the price of cardboard since then, isn't even an economical choice for short term disposal furniture.

Thank god for the monobloc plastic chair (new window)

Your homeless man under the bridge wants cool cardboard furniture.

They aren't giving me wood, only cardboard.

they have some of these pieces at the MOMA store. a little pricey, yes, but cool. it wouldn't take too much to do it yourself and fireproof it.....

My coffee table is made of pizza boxes, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

/Wait, what's under there?
//Oh, there actually is a coffee table under the pizza boxes.
///nevermind.

Try to clean the cat piss/poop/puke off that.

Made me think of the mouse pad couch:

www.gearfuse.com

I can't imagine how bad it stinks. Those rubber blue mouse pads always smelled a little off. 500 of them has to be bad.

Wow. A 40-year-old design showing up on Fark? heh.

Coolest I've seen all day?
Nope

Yeah, I'm sure that shiat is real durable. Don't sit down too hard, don't toss the remote on the chair, don't put more than 3lbs of books on the book shelf.

Bet it burns like farking fatwood too.

It's also lightweight and can be packed flat for easy shipping.

I'm sorry, but barely any of the pieces in the pictures looked capable of being packed flat.

2008-03-06 07:35:35 AM
Or is it the same furniture from the 70's?

//I wondered what happened to that stuff, why it never caught on here.

2008-03-06 07:52:38 AM

I can't find the site that had the guy who furnished his apartment with furniture made from FedEx boxes.

Wait. Yes I can

Real furniture requires the cutting of trees eh? What do they think cardboard is made of? And the quote about wood laminates requiring toxic glues... are we to believe that these hundreds of layers of cardboard are fused together with hippie love and stardust?

2008-03-06 10:33:00 AM
Some really ugly crap for sure. I don't think cardboard is all that environmentally friendly either. You ever been near a mill that makes cardboard?

"French designer Eric Guiomar began sculpting furniture from discarded corrugated cardboard boxes 15 years ago and became enchanted with the material."

Regular people are interested.
Artists are enchanted.

Why the hell would I want an end table to look like a piece of peppermint ribbon candy at Christmas time? Why the hell would I want furniture made out of cardboard? How the hell do people get paid to produce this stupid stuff? Why the hell am I still typing this pos...

I live in a humid region, and I can't help but think of soggy couches. Eww.

But when I eat my pizza off of it, will flecks of the chair come off on my fork?

My cats would love cardboard furniture. I think the designers are in the thrall of their Feline Overlords.

2008-03-06 03:37:31 PM
Some of this reminds me of the hideous furnishings Wynona Rider's mother made in Beetlejuice

2008-03-06 07:39:27 PM
Riddle me this batman, isn't cardboard made from paper? Which is made from wood?

/My cat would think she died and went to scratching post heaven...
//My dogs would think I got them new chew toys...
