My WI friends have asked me to keep them informed if any real news happens in the world as the news there is only going to be looping Brett Favre highlights and footage of people crying at the thought of a packers team without Brett Favre.

I don't buy it myself, I don't think he'd want his last NFL pass to be an interception in the NFC championship game.

2008-03-04 09:51:35 AM
Favre seemed like he had another run in him after this year, and the Packers are a solid young team. It's a shame. I always enjoyed watching him play.

2008-03-04 09:51:36 AM
Brett who??? Will he come out of retirement a couple of years from now and think he still has it like Michael Jordan did?

Retirement... it's not just for old people anymore.

jack21221: The_Pirate: star_topology: Bull honkey. He'll change his mind.

/furst?

I sure hope not I farking hate Brett Favre.

/+1 for the headline, more then fitting.

Just curious, what is there to hate about Favre? I'm not a Green Bay fan, but I kinda like Favre. Maybe you know something that I don't. I'm open to change my mind given the correct evidence.

he's from Michigan. Detroit's never even had a decent QB

Jubeebee Coincidentally, it's snowing in Illinois today; the frozen tears of millions of Packers fans are blowing in from the north.

We've got snow just north of Dallas, Cowboy fans tears of relief.

2008-03-04 09:52:17 AM
And if he does retire, Aaron Rodgers didn't look bad when we saw him against the Cowboys. I don't know if the Packers will have as charmed a year as they did last year, but if Rodgers is the real deal they'll still be good.

HAHAHAHA! Good one. You forget a few things: they just re-signed the Sex Cannon and they don't have any receivers.

slewfootedhoopajoo: expected to take the QB coach job at Southern Miss...

Favre to QB's "Just do what comes natural....throw an interception or a touchdown..its easy."

Where have you seen he will be a QB coach at USM?

the fact that he's made this announcement prior to the draft makes me think its probably a solid decision.

Maybe He'll take this opportunity to go back to high school and learn how to spell his name.

I hate Brett Farve. I’m a Vikings fan, glad to get rid of Troy I can’t catch a cold Williamson. That poll on the page is complete crap. Greatest of all time my ass. Joe Montana cheese heads not the interception king.

Live with two die hard packers fans for a year, that will give you more then enough reason to hate the man. They don't talk about the team, it's all about Brett Favre, and it's sickening.

Also, I just showed one of those die hard Packer Brett Favre fans that I live with this headline, he looked like he was about to cry. It was the highlight of my day.

2008-03-04 09:56:43 AM
Someone put John Madden on suicide watch.

2008-03-04 09:56:55 AM
Praise the lord. Now Brett can devote his time to doping up, getting drunk, living in a different state than his family and pretending to care.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Party's at my house. Dress as your favorite hasbeen!

2008-03-04 09:57:13 AM
Congrats on a great career!
With this guy I don't care about stats,he flat out played football.
Man,was he fun to watch.

Please let this be true, please for the love of god and all that is holy let this be true. I am so sick of everyone stroking brett favre... i mean farve. I can not respect someone who is to dumb to even spell his last name correctly. I hated coming into work and having to listen to all off the bandwagon jumping packer fans. Good ridence, you, the most overrated qb off all time.

/stay gone
//joe montana is still the best

2008-03-04 09:57:36 AM
Most Bears fans are bitter because they've never had anything even close to resembling a star quarterback. The closest they've come is McSweatband.

Thankfully now I can switch team loyalties, since I made a promise I'd follow the Packers until Farve retired, however, the bad news is I now live in Chicago, guess the AFC looks good, maybe Indy or Baltimore.

So we're finally giving Fox News credibilty?

Packers haven't broke it (which I would think he would give them or JSOnline first crack on the story).

If its true...Brett you've given us a great ride, thank you.

Til I hear it from him...I'm not buying.

oh...and the Bears and their fans can go fark themselves.

pd771: he's from Michigan. Detroit's never even had a decent QB

/shrug. I know Detroit sucks, there's no denying that. I'm still a fan, but I'm resigned to the fact that they're going to suck. It's all about Michigan football for me man.

Just what every team wants...a fairweather fan! Go for Indy, then you can switch again when Peyton retires.

Mark it down: Troy easily eclipses 1,300 yards receiving next year now that he is with a decent QB.

Maybe he'll come clean and tell us the way is name is supposed to be pronounced. FAV REE

Brett: "There's a minute thirteen left on the clock and we're down by twenty-three points. C'mon guys! We can win this game!" (goes out and throws an interception)

NathanAllen: Most Bears fans are bitter because they've never had anything even close to resembling a star quarterback.

I don't know who you've talked to, but practically everyone I've talked to in Chicago about sports (many people) have nothing but the utmost respect for Favre and what he's done throughout his career. I live in Chicago by the way, so I think you're just trying to play the whiney biatch card when it doesn't even apply.

2008-03-04 10:02:44 AM
This time, Favre has made his decision and will likely make it publicly known soon. However, like in the past, Favre could wake up any day now and decide to change his mind, although that doesn't seem likely at this point.

A bit hasty there, Jay Glazer. Way to hedge your scoop.

Please feel free to choose any of the following replies, one or more of which is correct:

> He was a great quarterback, worthy of Hall of Fame recognition

> He was a good quarterback surrounded by great players that made him look good

> He was an over-rated drug-addicted asshat of the highest level and good riddance to him

Your choice!
