Trying to imagine a Republican congressman being out for a couple of years, proposing to his partner a few years later...

... and the chairwoman of his home county's Republican Women's Club congratulating him and wishing the couple well.

It's a bit odd that an openly gay couple would go to a conservative Muslim country for vacations.
Even liberal Muslim countries (Dubai, Malaysia,...) frown opon homosexuality.

rjrichter: Uhh... Oman?

A gay friend of mine...err...a friend of mine who is gay (nttawwt) works in the UAE six months of the year. The rules as applied to poor rural locals and the rules as applied to rich urban Westerners ? Not the same.

/is aware that Oman is not in the UAE

This is what I'm saying, why go to Oman for the proposal? Kind of an FU to the religious and homophobic?

Iron Chef Scottish, well played, well played indeed.

It's a bit odd that a gay man would first stand as an MP for the Conservative party in 1987.

He also lived in the renowned stronghold of [sexual] liberalism that is Singapore.

Yeah, WTF modmins? 7 out of the last 15? If I wanted sensationalist, fearmongering, xenophobic non-journalism, I'd just buy the Daily Hate Mail and read it myself.

/yeah, I know, these things just happen
//yeah, I know, I can see the queue for myself, there's not much there to be had at the moment
///yeah, I know, random chance would mean it will happen like this occasionally
////but still... let's back off this domain for a bit, they might start thinking we all approve of their style of non-journalism.

While I'm all for a blanket ban on the Daily Fail, I've always considered it a badge of shame for a story to be featured on Fark. After all, isn't this supposed to be the place we "out" stories that are masquerading as news?

Any news organisation that's featured on Fark as often as the Waily Fail really needs to realise that YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!

/ Morans...

Daily Fail indeed. Tried to post a comment on the article there and their little bot-blocker "type in the characters below" mumbo jumbo won't work. Tried 8 or so different times before giving up.

And yes, i'm sure I was typing it in right.

It's nice to see that some government figures in some countries can accept themselves and be happy.

Here in the States, some of our congressmen are still getting blow jobs in bathrooms and are so far in the closet they have residency in Narnia.

Gives a whole new meaning to "head boy", too, doesn't it?

So, will these two be lined up for the stoning when Britain adopts sharia?
