My dad always taught me that if you see a train coming, no mater how far away it is, get off the tracks and stand a safe distance away. Looks like this kid never learned that.

He should ask those two guys over there dressed as a tiger about his leg.

Skateboarding teens typically deserve whatever misfortune befalls them.

What happened sucks, but odds are this incident could've been avoided had this kid been just a wee bit more intelligent than a bedside table.

I pretty much NEVER have sympathy for people who get hit by a train (an exception would be the kids in my area whose asshat busdriver stopped on the tracks)...there's only ONE place a speeding locomotive goes and it is really easy to avoid being in it's way.

How do you stump a skateboarding teen?

2008-02-29 04:34:00 PM
Clearly he was attempting a "Monster Cookie Pinwheel", the hardest skateboarding trick in history. You have to skate up the front of a locomotive's cow-catcher,do a 360 Punk buster to the 2nd car, hit a Lemonade handstand on the 3rd car, a whipping Post-ollie to the 4th car, a demon stomper on the 5th car and a Gleaming the cube on the 6th car before dismounting the train.

sounds to me this kid was just playing a little game of "dodge the train" or something.

Unfortunately, trains are so fast, that his comprehension of the speed physics involved are probably similar to that of deer who think that they can clear the road with their crap assessment of how fast it takes your bumper to reach their broadside.

Some may suggest that he sue, but I don't think he's got a leg to stand on.

It happens

At my local train station a guy lost both legs and had to crawl for help because the ticket office was closed and there was no-one around

What no link to the kid jumping in front of the train then legging it?

Kid FTFA should have watched an learned how not to loose limbs.

My nextdoor neighbor's 25 y/o kid thought it was cool to skate in the middle of a city road, drunk, at 1 AM wearing all black. The Ford Explorer that hit him at 35 mph couldn't see him.

Months of agonizing operations, incapacity and rehab (a year of which he was unable to speak) later...he's doing much better.

Meanwhile, not 100 feet away, I watch teen age neighborhood skate rats sailing through the stop signs at an intersection where the cross traffic averages 40 mph.

/barbed wire fence around my entire property
//my lawn, you WILL stay off it

poor kid... that train probably came flying out of nowhere, without using turn signals, and the conductor was probably yapping on his cell phone.

The "teen" was 19. Not to pull the "grumpy old man" card but by the time I was 19 I pretty much had put away my toys and assumed the role of an adult. This clearly illustrates why I am afraid to get so old I have to rely on these kids to take care of me.

/yes I know I am channeling Principal Vernon
