If only Rap would enter the mainstream, then caring principals such as this wouldn't be the subject of such ridicule.

In Junior High, during a Pep Rally, our 375 LB. Principal came into the gym, dressed in full black leather, and did three laps around on his Harley Davidson. As awesome as this actually was, the image of his fat-ass dressed in full black leather will haunt me forever.

I wonder if gangsta rap fans realize that when their favorite "thug" stars go to jail, they probably have sex with other men? NTTAWWT IMO, but it probably contrasts violently with their mental image of 50 Cent or whoever.

I can't seem to view the video at work. So I can only imagine what it looks like....And I think back to my elementary school principal, Mr. Childers--a honkey who looked almost exactly like Herbert Kornfeld from the Onion--and I remember only having on interaction with him. Apparently, someone had dropped a deuce in one of the urinals (it wasn't me, I swear), and he brought all the boys in school (K-6) to they gym and gave this long winded speech about what a terrible thing had been done. Seriously, this presentation went on for like half an hour. I think he was trying to bore the guilty party into confessing. Of course, part of the reason was all the giggling that erupted when he said "bowel movement" or "urinal" or "potty" (it's an audience of Kindergarteners through sixth grade boys, remember). I think he may have even had to say "poopy" to explain what happened to the little kids.

Anyway, I imagine how this all might have been improved with a rap.

My name is Childers, and this is my rap
And I'm here to talk, 'bout a misplaced crap.
Urinals are for number one, not two,
Mix them up, and you look like a foo'!

Don't poop in the urinal!
Don't poop in the urinal!

Now listen to tha C-Dawg, my li'l shorties,
Poop there again, I'll make you wish you were aborties!
Crap in the urinal, I'll pop a cap in yo' ass,
Keep your poo in the toilet, don't give me no sass.

Don't poop in the urinal!
Don't poop in the urinal!
Listen up muthafarkers,
Don't poop in the urinal!

Found an article. I'm not sure if its the same guy but, it appears to be.

FTA: Mervin Jenkins, 35, is not your typical school principal. Instead he is a rapping principal. Jenkins uses rap to relate to children.

"My goal was to be a professional rap artist. My mom wasn't happy about that so I always tell the story of how she tricked me into going to college because that wasn't on the agenda for me. I always wondered for a long time why god gave me this talent to freestyle and not use it as an MC. But now I'm seeing more and more how it is able to help me build a bridge to the youth and have this say this guy is all right," Jenkins said.

Heh. My husband's a high school English teacher, and he raps to his students all the time. He's got one of these (pops) hanging around his classroom. I'm pretty sure the kids think he's nuts, but he says it always gets their attention.

Actually, as silly as "rap" is (just a personal opinion) you have to give him credit. Apparently the students really like him/relate and he has some positive influence (which is refreshing).

Here's his myspace page :) The song playing, I guess is him, it is not that bad really (and I don't really care for rap). Apparently he has produced for a variety of rap artists. "Spectac" is his stage name. The page has videos, links and information about the principal.

You're comment reminds me of a commercial they used to run on Much Music. It was some archetypal uncool father who enters his son's room and chastises his son's taste in music. Anyway, the announcer says (I'm paraphrasing), "Much Music salutes all the clever dads over the years who've made the joke "I don't call it rap music; I call it crap music!"" It really highlighted the lameness of that joke.

/I'm not calling you lame, trucktrash. I just assume you posted your comment for the same effect.
//For what is now a terrible station, Much Music used to produce some pretty great commercials

Saying rap music is no good is ignorant. It's like saying science fiction is crap (I'm trying to speak in terms Farkers can relate to).

There's good and bad hiphop. The stuff most people know is garbage (Mr. Cent, Mr. Z, Mr. Chamillionaire), but there are also a lot of artistic and intelligent beats out there.

...less than in the 90's, I admit, but they're out there...

The man isn't bad and he's trying to do good. So, why not?
