Woah. That is creepalicious. I wonder when they moved to the more modern look?

Here's the song that is nostalgic to me of McDonald's, the "sekai no kotoba" (word of the world) campaign in a TV ad from 1979 (link pops). It was right around when they first started opening and it was a huge treat thing.

That can't possibly be McDonaldLand.
No Grimace?
No Hamburglar?
No Fry Guys?

Bah.

Not bad, but it's no Mac Tonight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owhA_sKoKbE&feature=related

That guy gave me nightmares.

/If McDonald's food grows naturally in McDonaldland, why do Ronald and the kids bother to go to the restaurant, where they have to pay?

That, of course, is Willard Scott.

Making it 100+ spooky.

Heh. They had that SAME ad on Japanese TV too, but translated.

If McDonald's food grows naturally in McDonaldland, why do Ronald and the kids bother to go to the restaurant, where they have to pay?

Excellent question!

I'll take that commercial anyday over the pc/mac guy commericals.

Because they're American.

Nothing can kill the Grimace

I remember that one. I always wondered how Ronald could eat with all that makeup on. Yuk !!

Does that campaign actually appeal to anybody? All they make me want to do is punch Steve Jobs in the nads repeatedly.

This is some creepy McDonald's shiat right here. (pops)

I like to rip the heads off those 'burger plants and suck out the eyballs.

I like the classic one I remember from Saturday morning cartoons:

Linky

/not a Rickroll

I think we have just found the successor to the Rick Roll.

Wow, I thought my talking and dancing trash cans one was bad, but I bow down to your superior creepiness.

Have you ever been to McDonald's?
Have you ever been to McDonald's on acid?

Was creepy the first time it got greenlit, not creepy the 12th time.

I don't know, I think this (new window) is the creepiest 1970's Mcdonalds ad.

2008-02-29 02:04:24 AM
Basically that was selling candy to a baby. A fantasy marketed towards children during an era of psychedelic drug use selling poor nutrition is nothing to be proud about, but it is an American success story nonetheless. America deserves every single problem it has.

CaptainSquid I know the guy who played "Mac Tonight"(also played the Silver Surfer). It might've given you nightmares but it gave him a house.

All of you born after 1982 - your default post for this type of thing should be:

"I WANT TO REMEMBER!"

I am never going to sleep thanks to that.

itazurakko: the "sekai no kotoba" (word of the world) campaign in a TV ad from 1979

Excellent. Instead of using lame magic like the US Ronald, the Japanese version fires lasers from his fingers!

Its better than a bunch of black guys playing basketball wearing rollerblades. McDonalds commercials have always been terrible, and always will.

2008-02-29 08:00:55 AM
The music sounds like Brewer & Shipley.

I think my soul just died a little. Well, a little more.

I had a birthday party in the late 70s at a McDonalds that had the huge plastic tree with the big nose. You could run around it, hide in a crawl space in its trunk and if you rubbed its nose like the kid in the commercial it would say things. They also had a hamburger patch of little plastic hamburgers that bobbed up and down like in the commercial. Ronald McDonald would walk around and he wished me happy birthday. It was almost a Chuck-E-Cheese type atmosphere except it was a McDonalds. There's pictures and home movies of it somewhere. Old school home movies that went on a projector.

2008-02-29 11:05:33 AM
I saw a much creepier one this morning, with Ronald fist farking an 18 year old girl. It was pretty creepy.

/would have said 13 year old if I didn't think Chris Hansen would hunt me down.

Lurkerbunny: I can see why Sid & Marty Krofft sued them.

Yea, I was waiting the whole time for HR Puffnstuff to hop out from behind that tree and assrape Ronald.

Now that would be comedy gold
