I can't even stomach watching him on TV for more than ten seconds myself. I find I start screaming incoherently and throwing things at the screen. It scares my kids.

2008-02-28 08:18:47 AM
Of course, the REAL story is that they're spying on us while we play video games.

2008-02-28 08:19:34 AM
Yay big government! What we need is more government control over every aspect of our lives. We can't take care of ourselves in old age, can't be trusted to save for retirement, or pay for medicine.
Neither can we be trusted with private conversations.

O RLY?

what is this now?

2008-02-28 08:20:14 AM
President Bush is going to hold a news conference to press Congress to pass an intelligence bill making it easier for the government to conduct domestic eavesdropping on phone calls and e-mails in connection with terrorism investigations. whatever the fark they want.

The sad thing is that Congress is going to roll over and pass whatever legislation this lame duck asshat wants.

chimpy just doesn't get it. it's getting kinda sad. you'd think he'd get the hint already.

How come the White house has to have a subpoena and never delivers anything?

moops: Nobody cares about Lameduck W. McPretzeldent. Doubt many will listen to him stammer this morning.

It will be a pleasant, humorous, and light-hearted break from the "ZOMG Obama = muslim!!!", "Waahh, the media doesn't love me.." and "Oh noes McCain may have had SEEEEX???!?!??!!11" of recent political news.

//not here, ugh

Wouldn't it be funny if Hillary won and started using this against various domestic groups she didn't like? I would love to hear the right-wing whining. You ring the bell, you can't unring it.

2008-02-28 08:24:12 AM
Does that including tapping phone calls and reading emails that originate from the White House?

2008-02-28 08:24:41 AM
I said this in the 2nd Amendment thread yesterday and figured it might still apply:

I've always wondered how many of the people who think the Patriot Act and Keeping America Safe Act are the best things since the reservoir tip and have the attitude of "I have nothing to hide, so I don't care what the government does. Screw the Constitution if it means we stop one potential terrorist" would feel if the next logical step were taken.

I can easily see the "Saving Children from Terror Act" demanding the immediate seizure of all guns in America "to ensure that terrorists cannot obtain weapons and use said weapons to attack our malls, our schools and our churches. Anyone who opposes this must want children shot in the street by Al Qaeda."

2008-02-28 08:24:41 AM

I'm so scared help me big government.

2008-02-28 08:24:43 AM
how many days till he's out of office??

2008-02-28 08:24:49 AM
Of course, Bush would never listen to my phone calls or email. I'm not a terrorist making international calls to muslim countries. And I don't read email containing text that I shouldn't be reading. So I am therefore completely safe from any invasion of my privacy.

/uh huh.

2008-02-28 08:25:01 AM
We, the american people should chip in and buy him a Wii so that he focuses less on "Leading".

Shatner's Bassoon: No Hero tag?

Why? It's not like Bush is doing anything heroic in trying to slash civil liberties.

You'd think so, but he somehow has power over Congress. Doubtless the response to his latest plea will be replayed before the election to help voters decide who is for and who is against, truth, justice, and the American way.

FTA: President Bush is going to hold a news conference to press Congress

Uh, why does he need to hold a conference to press Congress? Wouldn't it be easier to, you know, actually talk to Congress directly?

2008-02-28 08:27:55 AM
ya' know, if we just put *everyone* in jail, it would make sure there were no free criminals! Better safe than sorry!

2008-02-28 08:28:16 AM
Oh wait...lets not forget he's giving us money! So everything is GOING TO BE OK!

//ah..clem

There's uh.............uuhhmmmm..........that ..thing........with the stuff.....that he did....that time......

uuuhhhmmmm...........

OH! We all get rebate checks!

I knew there was something.

It's almost like holding a press conference on national TV to inform the public that he's not having sex with his intern.

2008-02-28 08:28:38 AM
Fark this. The administration will do it whether Congress passes the bill or not.

Sounds like your problems are much bigger than who our President is.

Although i must say it is a problem many MANY lefties seem to have.

Oh, that and the whole " Bush is spying on me " fearmongering thing.

PC LOAD LETTER: Wouldn't it be funny if Hillary won and started using this against various domestic groups she didn't like? I would love to hear the right-wing whining. You ring the bell, you can't unring it.

Fark ya! That's what folks don't understand: what goes around comes around. All these executive powers that Bush grabbed goes to the next President. And whoever that is will be using them to "fight terrorism". And for all you Hillary haters out there, that means her too.

Every time I read a headline like this, I think; I give up. Why bother to stand up to the bully when they'll just find another way to beat you down? So, I've changed my outlook on life now. Hell, I own Optimus Prime and Megatron so my "childhood revisited" is complete. Let the world burn, I got my piece. Here's to the end- prost.

2008-02-28 08:31:05 AM
i read that headline and was like... what? he wants to give us all iphones?

2008-02-28 08:31:05 AM
Tell you what Mr. Bush. You turn over the missing emails and other documents you're illegally hiding from us and direct the people who have subpoenas to appear before us and we'll think about it.

Until then eat shiat.

regards
congress

I don't know what's worse, the fact that this crap is happening, or the fact that so many 'Americans' roll over and take it like good little sheep. Anyone remember how a little mustached man used a fire at the Reischstagg to blame the communists and suspend civil liberties in the name of stopping terrorism, and well, look what happened. Same thing, except we have twin towers, Muslim extremists the patriot act and this crap. I'm disgusted to live in these times, we need change.

/godwinned?

Oh, great. Another "Bush is a Chimpanzee" thread.

Grow up people - he is our *PRESIDENT*. Show some respec!

Please take the time to consider that he IS a human being, maybe not the best, but you're all protected enough that you can post on Fark all day and not have to worry about getting blown up... We have Bush to thank for this.

FreeCrime: what is this now?

It can encrypt your emails. Unless the NSA has access to quantum computers, it will take them at least 50 years to crack.

\Also, Skype encrypts all computer-to-computer calls

With all the surveillance, they might even be able to find one. I'm in for $20.
