czarangelus: Babbs: Let the cop hating thread begin! Even if it's a police dog! That German Shepherd violated my human rights! WHAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Well since you think a dog mauling someone who hasn't even been accused of a crime yet is so funny, let me come over to your house this evening with a rabid, starving pit bull who won't follow commands and we'll see about human rights.

Here's the difference, retard. I'm at home minding my own buisness. That guy was being a punk. If someone stuck their head in the window of my car and started yelling at my dog, I'd probably get out and punch him in the face. That guy's lucky he didn't sick the agitated dog on him, instead of putting him in jail overnight. I'm sure he's spent a longer stint in jail than just overnight.

1. It didn't state he actually put his head in the window.
2. How is this "cruelty to animals" at any rate?

Babbs: I'm sure he's spent a longer stint in jail than just overnight.

You must be a cop - only a pig thinks this way.

I have never taken part in the cop bashing/defending war on FARK, but this shiat gets SO old. People like zenferret, czarangelus, S7P, danlpoon, and others really make me wonder why they stay in a country that allows these "transgressions" to occur.

I've had my share of run-ins with the law. Every time I get on my bike, I see the cops taking a closer look at everything I do on the road. But you know, I would expect no less. I'm a long-haired, tattooed biker. Sure, it's profiling, but I couldn't care less. I'm not breaking any laws, so if I get stopped, I'm polite, and (usually) they are polite. You don't let the FEW idiots in uniform taint your entire picture of Law Enforcement.

I GUARANTEE you that those listed above (and other cop bashers) will still call 911 if their house is broken into, or they get their ass kicked by a group of thugs. And don't give me that "I'll handle it myself before I call the pigs" bullshiat. No you won't, tough guy. You'll call the cops, and then biatch about them taking too long or not doing things the way YOU thought they should do them.

Law Enforcement Officers provide a service to the public. One that none of you would be willing to provide on your own. Again... no, you wouldn't, tough guy. If a few toes get stepped on in the process, then that's life. Nothing, and no one, is perfect.

czarangelus:

I wouldn't piss on a cop if he were on fire, let alone call them voluntarily for any reason. If somebody's threatening me, a cop ain't gonna be there in time to help anyway. We have the authority and the duty to protect ourselves

I'll give you one thing, if you're in mortal danger you do have to take care of yourself. The police can only respond so fast.

What you're saying in essence is that if you got rear-ended you wouldn't call the police? If you came home and your roomate was dead, you wouldn't call the police? Also, people don't all have the duty to protect themselves. Some people are incapable of defending themselves (see: France) therefore we have police, the military, etc. in place as a deterrent to the people who would take advantage of the weak. I'm also having trouble seeing how someone like you (a pacifist who if I'm not mistaken is anti-gun) is going to defend yourself against anything larger than a gerbil.

Something you should keep in mind about the police is that they will save your ass if you need them to even if you are a biatchy little idealist who hates them.

mandyer: I'm also having trouble seeing how someone like you (a pacifist who if I'm not mistaken is anti-gun) is going to defend yourself against anything larger than a gerbil.

I think you're stereotyping me. I'm unabashedly pro-gun, pro-rocket launcher, pro-mortar, pro-tank if you can fit one in your driveway. The onus of defense in a Republic falls on the citizens themselves, not on a standing army.

mandyer: Something you should keep in mind about the police is that they will save your ass if you need them to even if you are a biatchy little idealist who hates them.

They'll also arrest me and throw me in a rape hole for decades on the flimsiest of pretext if they feel like it. Maybe I'm a "terrorist" for everything I've posted on Fark, after all.

I do not hate all police officers, but the ones who do any of the following really ruin it for the rest of the good police officers:

Act like roid rage idiots.
Fly off the handle for anyone who doesn't respect their authority.
Act like the laws only apply to the 'normal people'
Go to any lengths to arrest someone just so they feel tougher.
Abuse people by using weapons as 'compliance tools'
Making up bullshait charges because they don't like someone.
Abuse the respect and authority of their positions in any way.

The penalties should be public shaming, loss of jerb, and jail time if they do something criminal.

Officers should also be checked regularly for drug and steroid use at random intervals with no warning. Any who fail should immediately be fired.

/never been arrested
//doesn't mean I'm not worried about bad cops.

I can't help but think of The Far Side comic showing what we say to dogs and what dogs actually hear.

What they hear: "blah blah Ginger blah blah blah blah blah blah Ginger blah blah blah blah..."

'some dudes' was about 100 drunk loonies dipshiat. i made that quite clear in the initial post. actually i called twice after i told them verbatim,'there are about 100 people in the middle of the highway throwing bottles and fighting' and no cops showed up after 20 minutes. when 1 car showed up, and i KNEW someone was going to get shot i called again and said,'are you guys aware of how many people are in the street and that theres only one cop car?' so theres your transcript, sorry if it was kind of boring. i was definitely scared shiatless though, scared enough to call the pigs.

So what's the psychology of these people who love cops? I don't understand it.

Was daddy a cop and a hero to them their whole childhoods?
Were they mugged by thugs and saved by a rare polite officer?
Are they closet fags attracted to men in a costume?
Are they just garden-variety authoritarians as can be found supporting the government of their respective countries anywhere in the world?

Not my job to clean up his mess.

Also, if you read the story from your link, there is no mention that the victim was "arrested". He was , from TFA, mistakenly placed in handcuffs (as he was brandishing a bloody bat when the cops arrived). Also, the victim KNEW the people who "robbed" him. Now either that was a legit robbery, and they later caught the burgler(s) based on info he gave them (the article doesn't say), or it was something other than a "robbery".

Gotta disagree with you there.
I had a restraining order against someone who repeatedly threatened me.
They repeatedly came into the gated community I lived in at the time... private property... no trespassing, etc.
The person came up to my door repeatedly and harassed me.
I was concerned enough over the situation that I finally bought a gun.

The police's response? She isn't directly threatening you with deadly force, so we're not going to enforce your restraining order.

Fark them in the ear.

No it's not. The incorrect presumption is that police officers are there to assist you DURING a situation; this is patently false. They are nothing more than a cleanup squad. The phrase "to serve and protect" is no longer valid; they are enforcers of petty rules conjured up by local government to generate revenue streams.

If police actually STOPPED a crime in progress, or lent assistance to you during an emergency, I would feel different; but they don't. They do NOT protect you, they do NOT prevent crime (except, perhaps, by intimidation), they arrest people who have already committed the crimes.

Well, my thoughts on the matter would be, if your "own experience" tells you otherwise, then you must be more well versed on this subject than I am. Pray tell, have you had an experience with a "bad cop" (or several, as your post suggests)? If so, did you make a complaint to the department, his (or her) superiors, or even the local news paper? Not quite. Depends on the model and customizations. I won't go into too much detail (as to threadjack), but my sporty is nothing near stock. I assure you, unless the "lady" is over 6' tall, her feet wouldn't touch the ground on my Sportster.

I can't think of a single reason why in the world one would INVITE an interaction with the police. That's crazy talk. Let's get it straight--calling the police is not like calling a super-hero to save you. You are calling someone whose job it is to arrest you and charge you with a crime. Why the hell would you bring this upon yourself?

The police don't exist to stop crime. They don't exist to help you when you are in danger. They don't exist to rescue cats from trees and help old ladies across the street.

The police exist for one and only one purpose: to arrest people and provide evidence that will put them in jail or bring in revenue (fines) for the city. Period. The more customers they can process the better they are doing their jobs. You do not want any kind of interaction with them if you can help it, or you may end up becoming another "customer".
