Someone needs to do this with the Family Circus children.

The humor of these comics has been increased tenfold.

Of course, the best Garfield parodies ever were the ones from this thread (I don't remember the original website:)

That was 100% more entertaining than I thought it was going to be.

2008-02-23 11:23:46 AM
Yeah, it's old; yeah, I've seen it; but there's such a strong field of win surrounding these little Zen nuggets that it transmutes anything into awesome.

2008-02-23 11:23:58 AM
Awesome. Garfield has never been better than when he's not in the panels. And Jon really has my sympathies.

This is very Anticaturday.

I approve.

2008-02-23 11:25:36 AM
I don't remember where I first heard of it, but Garfield becomes a much better comic if you completely ignore Garfield's speech bubbles.

It becomes a little more existential.

2008-02-23 11:26:08 AM
Gods but that is brilliant. Makes me think that Jon Arbuckle should join a fight club.

THANK YOU. Holy crap I thought I had something f'ed up in my browser with that site.

This was waaaay funnier than I expected.

Okay, now I've spent some time reading through the Garfield-less Garfields, and I've changed my mind. I'm laughing my ass off. Ignore previous post--this stuff is teh funnay.

2008-02-23 11:35:12 AM
I actually read today's dead-tree "funnies". I was horrified at how un-funny they were. I mean, downright not-even-poignant.

This makes up for it a little bit, somehow.

Pure hilarity.

It's better!

I've seen those car-window-garfields-without-garfield before. Also an improvement.

Makes you think if Jim Davis meant Garfield to be read this way. A cartoonist has to eat right? And Garfield would never have become such a huge commercial entity in this form. Jim Davis left it to us the readers to remove the fat cat from the strips. You sly dog...

From the randomizer... That was amazingly funny. It mighta made more sense if the first panel was in the last slot, but as it is, it's kinda hilarious thinking of Squeek taking revenge...

Garfield without Garfield is like sex without whipped cream. It's doable, but why bother??

By far my favorite of the lot, and so appropriate that it's in black and white...

Any of those sans-Garfield strips where Jon is talking about dating is pure hilarity. Pure, sad hilarity.

That KXCD strip creeps me the hell out. I hear the word balloons in my head as a deep whispering echo of a voice.

I love it.

anyone have the link to the strips where only garfield's word balloons are removed? These are funnier but those were the funniest imo.

The Final Fantasy spoof in the lasagna cat link was too funny.
