I was rooting for it to burst into flames as soon as the nose gear touched but then everybody get out ok. It would have been a nice story. In reality I knew 45 minutes ago that I was totally wasting my time watching that.

Old and cramped. Plus I am always back in that freaking stupid row next to the bathroom.

I prefer newer equipment (at least from the 90s) from companies still in business. I think Boeing services these from a buyout, but I am not sure.

Ah hell, just crawl down there with a ball-peen, some duct tape & WD40 and fix the goddamn landing gear! Cuz that's what I would do.

I wondered too. From Wiki (c&p):

On November 3, 2005, CNN announced that Brown would be leaving the network, with Anderson Cooper's program Anderson Cooper 360° replacing NewsNight as the flagship program in CNN's evening lineup in an effort to improve low ratings. The two had shared anchoring duties in the 10:00 PM time slot through the early fall after Cooper's break out success covering Hurricane Katrina. Many said Brown's cerebral "news for grown-ups" style would be missed, while others found him lacking.

In May 2006, it was announced that Brown would serve as the John J. Rhodes Chair in Public Policy and American Institutions at Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University. In Spring 2007 he co-taught a course called "Turning Points in Television News History" and the next year he became a professor at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication, teaching television history.

/I'll bet Mr. AC360 added that "while others found him lacking" part.

AgeOfReason: Old and cramped. Plus I am always back in that freaking stupid row next to the bathroom.

I prefer newer planes myself, as well, but I haven't been on an '80 since about 1986, so I don't really remember it.

Widebody is nice, unless you get stuck in the center rows. I've pre-picked my seats already to avoid the worst rows, but am also gonna try to be there early enough to get exit rows. I'm sure it will be bearable. My hops are all

From the chopper feed (http://mfile.akamai.com/12908/live/reflector:35359.asx): "Chopper, What's our plan now that the plane is...at the gate?...That's where they are"

Almost sounded disappointed.

But now they've got the chopper flying over Miami. Kinda cool.

2008-02-22 04:01:32 PM
i was eating lunch in a sub shop playing cnn when they broke the story.

it was farking ridiculous... they brought in experts, they had a helicopter hovering over the airport watching every single plane land because they weren't sure when it would be the plane having trouble...

the farking landing gear didn't retract and they decided to land again. the experts were sitting there saying "well, they'll probably circle for a few hours to burn some fuel so they don't have to land heavy, but there shouldn't be a problem".

you heard it here folks, we'll be here with non stop coverage of a plane flying in a circle. it's like the nascar, only even more boring!

oh whats that? we take that back, they're landing now. shiat, now what do we do all afternoon to kill time?
