Ted Kennedy seriously kicks ass.

A majority of the American people, as demonstrated by the backlash against the various amnesty plans, want a secure border and tighter enforcement of existing laws regarding illegal immigration and the employment of illegal aliens.

Interesting that neither major party has a candidate who plans to do dick about the problem.

Typical that both sides are pandering to a newly-found 11% of possible voters, both legal and non-legal in the Hispanic category.

Sad that both parties are actually doing everything they can to appeal to law breakers from another country, who don't give a damn about assimilating into our culture, who are driving down wages and the quality of educational programs and driving up infrastructure and health care costs, don't speak our language and don't care to, and who breed like Catholics on crack.

Both parties chasing this country's fate down the toilet for either cheap votes or cheap labor - but the joke is that it's not cheap, and it will destroy the middle class as we now know it.

America - a great idea while it lasted, sold down the river by Washington whores.

I ran into old Ted during my D.C. days. Couple times actually.

Once while walking up the steps to the Capital building and another time in the Senate Office building.

On both occasions, the first thing that really jumps out at you about the guy is that his face is one giant broken blood vessel.

Total mess, that guy.

Actually, you are mistaking the two definitions of volume. Don't worry, you are in good company; this is a common mistake.

Volume, can mean either:

The amplitude or loudness of a sound.

or

Amount; quantity.

You are seeing people scream loudly (the first type of volume) about illegal immigration, and assume that there is therefore a large number of people (the second type of volume) that support that position.

You are wrong.

If you were correct, Ron Paul would be the Republican presidential nominee.

Let's look at actually polling on the issue, shall we?

ABC News/Facebook poll. Dec. 16-19, 2007. N=1,142 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3. Fieldwork by TNS.

"Would you support or oppose a program giving illegal immigrants now living in the United States the right to live here legally if they pay a fine and meet other requirements?"

For the poll conducted on 12/16-12/19, 49% supported the statement, and 46% opposed. The same question was also asked during a previous poll on 9/27-9/30, and then 58% supported it with 35% opposed.

Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg Poll. Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2007. N=1,245 registered voters nationwide. MoE ± 3.

"One proposal that has been discussed in Congress would allow illegal immigrants who have been living and working in the United States for a number of years, and who do not have a criminal record, to start on a path to citizenship by registering that they are in the country, paying a fine, getting fingerprinted, and learning English, among other requirements. Do you support or oppose this, or haven't you heard enough about it to say?"

In this case, 60% supported the program and only 15% opposed it.

So, the program proposed by President Bush, Congressional Democrats, and a few moderate Congressional Republicans (like McCain before he changed his mind) is actually supported by a majority of the American people. Deal with it.
