Just an observation.

While I use that word only in the worst of circumstances, some people use that word for the female version of "asshole."

I'm not debating the merits of it, I'm just making a conjecture.

The Hillary camp HAS been a real asshole (collectively) at times.

That may be, in some cases, but it seems at least from this thread that it is used in a sexist, downright misogynist manner. I mean, apart from c*nt, people tell her to have an operation to become a man, etc.

One of the things I find interesting is the vitriol I see here for Hillary from liberals who support Obama, because many times they use the same GOP talking points that were used against Hillary during the Clinton years which many found offensive then. It's interesting because many continue to refer to her as a "republican" and yet her record and Barack's is almost identical. In fact, when you look at their healthcare proposals, his is more to the right that hers, because she actually calls for universal healthcare, enforced by the government, whereas he wants some government involvement, and the use of subsidies while keeping it privatized (a more distinct republican ideal). When it comes to the war, yeah, she voted for it, but although Obama first said he would have voted against it and gave that speech opposing it, when he actually came to the senate he repeatedly asserted that he did not know how he would have voted had he been in the senate at the time. Additionally, he continually voted (right up until he declared his run for the presidency) to fund the war, just like she also voted for it.

Obama also supports nuclear power something that Dems generally find anathema, and yet Hillary is seen as the worst of the two. I'm not arguing for the merits or demerits of the position on nuclear power, just showing how even when Obama takes a position contrary to most of the liberals who support him, they see Hillary, not him, as the problem. If baffles me, because it sometimes seems, hearing Obama supporters, that he can do no wrong.

"HILL YEAH! HILL YEAH! HILL YEAH!"

I can't believe these folks represent the average hillary supporter. I just can't. they've got to be on the fringe.

That looks like the scene in Jurassic Park where the two raptors in the kitchen looked at each other before one of them jumped up on the table to coordinate looking for the tasty kids cowering in the cabinets. Like they're either going to kiss or see who can bite the other's face off fastest.

McCain plays the part of the T-Rex bellowing offstage in this metaphor, and Huccabee plays the part of Fred Flinstone.

Lando Lincoln: You can read this blog for one woman's account of digging through Clinton's / Obama's legislative track record to see how they stack up against each other. Take what you will from it. She may be biased.

I wouldn't put too much faith on the Kos Kids. Ever since this primary began they've been up Edward's ass, licking his strudel. It's funny to see the Kos Kids now fully behind Obama, when Edwards was still in the race, Obama was nothing but a turn coat Republican to them. Now, he's not Hillary, the real turn coat republican. Sigh.

I doubt it, if Obama gets the nom, it would make better sense to get a running mate that actually appeals to some demographic he doesn't already have tied up. Hell, he could choose a rusty boat anchor as a running mate and he'd get a bigger jump in votes than if he had Hillary.

I am thinking he would pick Wesley Clark as VP. That way he can have someone with military experience to compete with McCain.

We got a phone call for a pro-Clinton rally. It took three listens to hear that that was what it was for. It was pre-recorded, by Chelsea, and she spoke so fast that you couldn't quite understand it.

So, my advice is: get a Speech 101 teacher to help with your campaign. If you pay all that money for a pre-recorded phone spam, make it comprehensible.

Mercutio74:keeping a hundred year occupation of Iraq going is not a wise plan for the future of the US.

In any case, my state (Minnesota) has already held its caucuses, so my opinions of the candidates are not particularly important until the general election.

As for the "hundred year occupation" though, I wouldn't make too much of that statement. The guy's probably just being realistic -- after all, we still have troops in Germany & Japan 60+ years after "Mission Accomplished" in WWII, and it's not causing any serious controversy back home.

In the end, I don't think I'll be too depressed regardless of who wins -- any of these candidates is likely to be better than GW, although my preference is still for Hillary. I've given my vote & some money to her campaign, but it's in the hands of the Texans & Dem. party elites now...

not to mention that fark has a large percentage of shock posters, many of whom have picked on obama for his race (yes indeed), but you shouldn't take them too seriously some farkers would pick on mother teresa to get a rise...in fact they do.

I really wish the dem race wasn't so heated. I'm just fine with criticisms about issues, or about their campaigns which I see as valid, but as democrats we should all remember we're on the same team.
IMO hillary has run a bad campaign. at the start I didn't care for her (mainly because of her iraq rhetoric in 03-04), but the way her campaign has stuck to flimsy negative attacks has made her less and less appealing to me.

I believe the sentiment I'm expressing is the main reason she's losing. I think it's a mistake to blame sexism, that can blind you to what I see as the actual reason and that has kept her campaign from adjusting accordingly IMO.

Hillary has brought up the issue of race (and gender) plenty of times.

She could blame her campaign staff for her muddled, shifting, uninspiring message, fire them all, and attempt to be the person at the end of the debate, the person who cried in N.H.

All of Obama's "Change" signs are a not-so-subtle psychological ploy designed to do a number of things, not the least of which being to get people's minds of the fact the guy's name is Barack Hussein Obama. You're asking mainstream America to make the monumental change of electing a black man, and they don't even meet you halfway by the guy having a name like Fred Smith or Walter Jones.

Hillary's got something like that going on, too, if you've noticed. It's as if she's trying to de-emphasize as much as she can that she's a woman. The suits are getting more severe, and the hair is getting more butch. It really jumped out at me in the debate.

I wonder if that was a tactical mistake? Would she have been better served, in this election where wanting change is such a strong pull, to emphasize her womanhood; try to be America's Mom; America's Mini-Van Driver; America's Oprah-in-Chief?

You still have to project the tough commander in a time when terrorists want to kill us, but she could have better projected that toughness in a "mother who will do anything to protect her kids" vein.

Do I think any of this would have worked either? Nah. But that would have perhaps made it more interesting.

Hillary's biggest problem is that everything about her seems to be polled and based around what gives her the best chance to win. She can't dump all that and try to be authentic, because she's been doing it so long, there's no authentic to go back to.

actually I'm not exactly a democrat. in fact '04 was my first vote for a dem presidential candidate (no I didn't vote fer w).

I'm just considering myself as a dem this year because I fully support (first time ever) a candidate that happens to be a dem.

I just worry about a possible split in the party after all this, 'hillary's supporters are dumb' businsess. I see obama getting the win and I know we're gonna want those 'dumb' hillary supporters on board with that.

a lot of hardcore hillary folks are gonna be really disappointed, just as I would be if obama was passed over. let's all play nice.

These are a few. This does not include the references to her performing some type of sex act, lesbo action and other generally sexist stuff. I mean, try to say something similar about Obama, and you'd be torn a new one, quickly. There seems to be a huge double standard where race card beats gender card any time.

Mad Mark: A sex change?

Can you imagine how bad that must feel? Standing by your man who is a sexual tyrannosaurus and saying he is Ghandi?

Do I think Clinton has run a good campaign, not really. I think she's messed up big time. I don't even support her but reading all this vitriol it frankly makes me sick. It's not only here at Fark, but almost everywhere there are Obama supporters. Somehow, calling her a c*nt, whore, or something equally unsavory is okay, but even mentioning he is black is enough to have a mob go after you.

That would be a very strong ticket. I'm a perennial Wesley Clark fan when he tries to run and the Dems ignore him at the primaries. He's an excellent speaker, comes across as a very thoughtful and well intentioned man and has the foreign policy credibility that's so important in this modern age. He's be the perfect match to Obama, I think, and he'd be the kind of VP that you could trot out at a moment's notice to speak with the press. Another thing I like about Obama and Clark is that when you ask them a question you get an answer. You don't get some half baked segue into a different issue.

Any time anyone says anything about him that could be misinterpreted as being racist (meaning it's not actually racist unless you stretch it to be so). His supporters come out in droves to call it racist and heckle and cry until whoever said it to apologizes. Obama stays on the sidelines, long enough to get the sympathy vote for the supposedly racist comments, and then comes out to say "this is not about race, nor is it about gender." He plays it well, and shows his gift as a politician. Look at how he treated Biden's comments complementing him. At first Obama said, we have more important things to talk about than this, Sen. Biden obviously didn't anything by this and I take him at his word. However, this was around the time that blacks were saying that Obama was not black enough, so sensing political opportunity before the day was out, he flip flopped on his comments saying, I see how people can be offended by this. For a couple of days after that, he allowed his supporters to use the race card, gaining him sympathy and votes, only to in the end once again come back and say "I know Joe, and vouch for his credentials as someone who has fought hard for civil rights, and for the rights of minorities in our country." Of course, he did this once it was clear Biden was not a threat to him politically. He's done it countless times with Hillary, Bill and others, allowing his surrogates to argue that this or that was racist, only to then come out once he has benefited from it to play uniter. It's very well done.

I absolutely agree with all of that.
