RTFA subby.

"The three accused players reached an undisclosed financial settlement with Duke in June, but later filed their own federal civil rights lawsuit against Nifong, the City of Durham and the police detectives who handled the case."

Suit not filed against Duke. Filed against Nifong and the city.

Suit against Duke was settled already, almost a year ago.

Well as much as the DA is a Douche Nozzle, I don't think these guys are going to get anywhere with this. I hope there not trying to ride the coat tails of the 3 guys who were actually affected by this whole mess.

Read the (poorly written) article yourself, dummy. There's a bunch of lawsuits going on here, but they -are- suing Duke, and it's a new suit.

RTFA debug

More than three dozen members of the 2006 Duke University men's lacrosse team and members of their families filed suit against Duke University, its President Richard Brodhead and other officials, Duke's medical center, and the City of Durham and city officials for emotional distress and other injuries in connection with false rape charges and a corrupt police investigation against team members in 2006.

That's the first sentence of the story. If you hurry, you still might be able to catch the short bus back home.

I would love to catch a bus home right now, regardless of the length.

Jesus, the headline on the linked page reads "New lawsuit from Duke LAX players"

It doesn't get much more obvious.

Emotional distress...what a bunch of poosays. Seriously, I don't know what's more pathetic, this blatant moneygrab, Nifong's conduct, or the poltically correct rush to judgement by so much of the Duke staff. Everybody who is involved in this mess smells like crap.

As much as I truly do feel these guys got hosed on what should have been a great season, I wish they wouldn't sue the city. We have a hard enough time getting City Hall to pick up the trash and fix the sidewalks as it is, it'll be that much worse when the money has to be used to cover increased insurance premiums. Why in the hell is this city incapable of electing or hiring anyone who is neither a crook or a mouth breather?

I think the emotional distress thing is more than adequate. Duke let every single liberal feminist organization KILL the entire team publicly until the three "suspects" were fingered.

I think the professors that took out the newspaper ad against the players before they bothered to listen to the full story should be held accountable as individuals also.

Nifong may be protected financially because of his bankrupcy, but I wish I knew enough about law to determine that his actions crossed over into the area of criminal conduct.

You haven't actually seen the ad, have you?
