Judging from the location when they do the repair they'll use a Manheim steamroller to finish the hot-patch.

Why didn't the Amish call the DOT sooner?
Oh...yeah. Sorry.

This does not surprise me at all. I live about 3 miles from this spot and always knew this town was the gateway to hell.

It's not yet known exactly what caused the sinkhole, however a sewer pipe does run under the road.

The Amish don't use sewer pipes, do they? If not, this proves they were right.

In other local news...

YORK, Pa. -- An accident Friday afternoon at the York County landfill claimed the life of a trash truck driver.

Police said the victim is a New Jersey trash hauler who was working underneath a disabled trash truck when he was run over by a bulldozer ??????????????? WTF????

It happened about 1 p.m. at the Modern Landfill along Mount Pisgah Road in York.

The driver was dumping his load off when his rig broke down.

A bulldozer was used to push it away, but the operatable vehicle didn't know he was underneath his truck.

Police said he was run over by the bulldozer and may also have been by the wheel of his own trucks.

The truck belonged to Wilkie Truck Incorporation of New Jersey.

I read that as "Willie Wonka Truck Incorporation of New Jersey."

Is that bad?

Rabid Canary: I can't take my eyes off that pic.

It looks like a young, angry Mr Bean trying to strangle a pack of wild horses.

It's brilliant.

There's a gaping maw (not my wife this time) on 2nd Street and 5th Ave in Brooklyn that was finally closed after a decade of neglect. I'm guessing due to 311. Or was it?

Don't make me take this to the highest authority - THE INTERNET!

Is life that boring in that area that they needed eight pictures of a sinkhole?!!!!

2008-02-19 08:21:49 PM
I've used that road for a shortcut dozens of times. It's in one of those neighborhoods where people have stone lions at the front of their driveway and like to complain about the buggys tearing up the roads. fark 'em. Hope it stays closed and the MILFs can't get their kids to soccer practice on time.

This article is a lot more fun if you pretend it says 'Stinkhole'.

Spamtasy: Is life that boring in that area that they needed eight pictures of a sinkhole?!!!!

Yes, in fact it is. Here's a recap of the York news.

Story 1: Some guy was shot by a guy and they think drugs were involved.

Story 2: Some assholes broke into a bunch of cars and stole a bunch of crap.

Story 3: ZOMG LOOK AT THIS PUPPY!!!

Now let's do Harrisburg.

Story 1: Something happened at the capitol that you don't give 2 shiats about but we're going to interview 9 people anyway.

Story 2: Something has either flooded, will flood, or is in the process of flooding right now.

Story 3: A tractor trailer crashed on 81/581/83.

That's it. The same 3 stories every night. It's like farking grounghogs day here.

This should not be a surprise to anyone living in that area of the country. The entire area sits on limestone.

Atypical Person Reading Fark: 42 is the new 47, any idea what caused that road damage? Just curious. Where is it?

Dyslexic much? Record rain plus a poorly maintained culvert that ran under the road. It's actually (the New York) I-88 between Exit 9, Sidney and Exit 10 Unadilla in Delaware County (read: middle of nowhere). It actually happened June 2006 if I remember correctly and took them a few months to fix it.

/Yes, I know dyslexia is much more than reading things backwards.
