Pelosi is throwing a hissy fit. She's past menopause, right?

2008-02-14 01:58:42 PM
The whiny assed titty baby GOP had a tantrum because the Dems were gonna hold someone in the administration accountable?

Say it's not true!

2008-02-14 01:59:51 PM
Meh, even if it passes the lackeys over at the DoJ will chuck it out.

We will not stand for accountability within the U.S. government!

I want this stupid spying thing to die. I don't care about evil terrorists, they won't last long here anyway. I'm not afraid.

I never was..I've hated that thing since it started. In fact, if some terrorists do come here, I'm gonna have me some fun and get some payback.

It's about time. Fark them. When are they going to hold Gonzales and maybe Rove in contempt?

2008-02-14 02:16:14 PM
I thought they outlawed accountability.

Marcus Aurelius: I thought they outlawed accountability.

Nah, this is like Groundhog day, except it's coming out to see if there will 8 more years of a republican administration.

I wonder if the hotel rooms for the Texas Democrats are still available in Oklahoma?

Maybe these Republicans can get a group discount.

You can always count on TCS to throw out something totally unrelated in a lame attempt to sidetrack the discussion.

The Dems have issued an Amber Alert?

The Republicans didn't walk out over the contempt bill.

There's a NAMBLA convention in town and they all wanted to get good seats.

Yes, because protesting blatant gerrymandering at the state level is exactly the same as failing to carry out oversight responsibility at the federal level.

"Hey! Look over there!!!" is all that the true-believers have left in their arsenal. Everything sharp or incendiary was long-ago lost to them. Their weaponry is made by NERF these days.

Underage gay sex is the exclusive province of Democrats. Closeted, hypocritical gay sex is the Republican arena.

The House Dems have plenty of time to hold votes on this partisan bickering, but not enough to vote on FISA?

Well done...Glad to see the people's business is a priority...

Just once, I would like someone to offer up a reasonable answer (shiat - any answer) to this question:

Why is the existing FISA provision for retroactive warrants insufficient?

The right answer could sway me. But nothing that any of the warrantless wiretap supporters has offered thus far is compelling.

Bush won't answer that question because the answer is unacceptable. "Because we don't want any paper trail of our activities in this regard."

Man, calling a procedural vote in the middle of a memorial service. That's crazy Phelpseque rude.

FAIL

It's called oversight. It is their duty, and it is about time they got off their asses and did it.

I'm not saying they should take it up. I'm pointing out that they are about to recess without voting on FISA (which just passed the senate), and which is about to EXPIRE on Saturday. That's THIS Saturday.

That being so, the FISA vote is FAR more important to the country's interests than this nonsense...

They can get around to that, and should if something was amiss. The FISA issue is a bit more pressing. Don't you think that has a bit more priority?

You know who else staged walkouts in the Reichstag?

2008-02-14 03:17:24 PM
Now the people who walked out should be charged with contempt. I know I have contempt for them.

2008-02-14 03:19:52 PM
And when does HR 333 get voted for? I want to see Lord Cheney impeached next.

2008-02-14 03:19:53 PM
Typical Republican behavior. They won't do anything productive and will stop at nothing to make sure no one else does either.

Bush will probably applaud GOP members to walking out.

maybe they don't want to renew it? perhaps they're just waiting out the clock?

maybe they did think their cunning plan all the way through?

by the way, i doubt what i just said is true.

TFA: Right in the middle of the Statuary Hall service for the late Tom Lantos, a Republican went to the floor -- just steps from the solemn proceedings -- and called a procedural vote, apparently out of pique.

Wow. What a dick move.

Maybe after the republicans walk out they can vote on it...

So I suppose the GOP walking out, and not doing anything will be the Democrats fault, right? Geez, I always wondered if blind loyalty is the foundation of the GOP base.

FISA article (new window)

House Democratic majority leader Steny Hoyer asserted to reporters that even if the foreign intelligence surveillance law expires, Americans will not be in danger and the intelligence community will be able to continue intercepting communications of suspected terrorists.

Um, why are they passing a new law then? Will the Democrats pass the bill in the House without immunity? No. They'll roll over. Just like the DOJ won't prosecute based on this vote.

2008-02-14 03:24:13 PM
Typical GOP behaviour. 6 year olds in a sandbox. Maybe weepy Boehner will shed a tear or two.

We've got to have FISA in some form. Not voting on it and letting it expire because they disagree with some elements of it, and having nothing in its place, is simply not a responsible course of action.

In a kinder, gentler time it was called Cut and Run.
