I wish I had the balls and opportunity to abuse my authority and take out all of my frustrations with society on a weedy 14 year kid that's wearing a stupid t-shirt.

Between the car they shove his fat ass in and the shiatty uniform, I can see how the fellow doesn't get much respect. I would have sworn he was a meter made up until I realized he was carrying a gun.

That's some good police work there, Officer Rigggieri.

As much as I hate Fark's incessant cop-bashing, here's a rare situation where it's actually justified. That officer should be fired.

LordPistachio: As much as I hate Fark's incessant cop-bashing, here's a rare situation where it's actually justified. That officer should be fired.

Really? Kid didn't get maced or tasered or nothin'. The video seems to kick in just as things are starting to heat up, but I'd venture to say that if the the punk had shown some respect and stopped being a wise-ass the cop would have gone back to eating doughnuts right after he told them "no skating allowed." But the kid was all like "I obviously couldn't hear you officer lard-ass as I had my skull jacked into some emo tunes on the ipod my mommy got me."

I'm thinking the cop might not have been all that far out of line here. It's his job to enforce the rules. If he just let these smart-ass kids give him the finger and keep on skating he'd have failed at that. He stepped it up a notch and got the job done.

And I think he was dead on about how apparent it is that their parents hadn't put the boot in their butts enough. If snowflake cant handle being called out on his smart-ass-hatery then he shouldn't be out in public with out parental supervision.

2008-02-12 07:03:27 AM
Jeeze, that cop was a dick. I love how pissed he was at being called dude.

He needs thicker skin if he gets all hot and bothered about skateboarding 14-year-olds.

2008-02-12 07:14:16 AM
I think that the "dude" was right..
Punk ass kids.

Back in my day we used to skateboard down big hills, with our trucks so tight you couldn't turn, for fear of speed wobble..

/before frontside kickflips wuz invented.
//now i'm too old, and fat, and 'fraid to get on a deck.

They show Cops man handling people all the time on the show Cops. I don't think he did anything wrong. You ever met a 14 year old?

2008-02-12 07:42:52 AM
What a typical pig cop bastard.

2008-02-12 07:52:56 AM
I'm sure if that cop had a taser, we'd have another "Don't tase me, DUDE!" cliche...

2008-02-12 08:07:16 AM
"My name is Officer Rivieri and the sooner you learn that" the sooner you can sue me and my department for abuse of authority, assault and issuing death threats, take it before a jury and get some phat phat lewt from the city?

2008-02-12 08:08:18 AM
Really? A 250 pound cop can grab a 100 pound 14 year old and take him to the ground, just because he doesn't like the tone of his voice, and that's OK with some of you? I hope it never happens to your kids. Come to think of it I hope you don't have kids.

Another side effect to this whole thing is that the many of the group of kids present when this happened will now grow up through their teenage years with a strong dislike of the police, and authority figures in general. Then someday they'll end up on Fark bashing cops, and people will wonder why all the "hate".

The cop is a piece of shiat. Of course not all are, but he is yet ANOTHER shining example. He needs to find a new line of work.

Chuck Ruffcorn: The video seems to kick in just as things are starting to heat up, but I'd venture to say that if the the punk had shown some respect

He never showed any disrepect. He called the cope dude. I called a cope dude at a che2ckpoint a while back. It's a word that kids obviously uses as part of his vernacular every day and isn't an insult.

Chuck Ruffcorn: But the kid was all like "I obviously couldn't hear you officer lard-ass as I had my skull jacked into some emo tunes on the ipod my mommy got me."

No, the cop asked if he had his earphones in (he was already yelling at that point) and the kid said "I didn't hear you dude". Officer Lardass was already being an asshole and then he physically assaulted someone who had complied with everything he asked him to do, then took his property, then threatened him, all over the word dude. That's officer was way out of line.

Chuck Ruffcorn: t's his job to enforce the rules.

Like, asking the kids to stop and when they do, say "have a nice day kids. you should try the skate park over on whatever street." Maybe treating them with respect will get him respect?

b>Chuck Ruffcorn: If he just let these smart-ass kids give him the finger and keep on skating he'd have failed at that.

Except that didn't happen. They did what he asked when they heard him.

Chuck Ruffcorn: If snowflake cant handle being called out on his smart-ass-hatery then he shouldn't be out in public with out parental supervision.

If Officer Fatty McDonut can't handle being called dude, then he shouldn't be in a uniform beating up defenseless kids.

What is the Civilian Review Board?

A permanent, independent agency in Baltimore City that is authorized to process complaints lodged by members of the public who allege abusive language, harassment, or excessive force by members of the Baltimore Police Department. The Civilian Review Board may also review Police Department Policies (make the recommendations to the Commissioner).

Which police agencies fall under the jurisdiction of the CRB?

Baltimore Police Department Beginning October 1, 2000
Baltimore City School Police
Housing Authority Police of Baltimore City
Baltimore City Sheriff's Department.

What exactly does this terminology mean?

Abusive language - harsh, violent, profane, or derogatory language that would demean the dignity of an individual, including profanity, racial, ethnic, and sexist slurs.
Excessive force - the use of greater physical force than reasonably necessary to repel an attacker or terminate resistance, it does not include force that is reasonably necessary to effect a lawful purpos.
Harassment - repeated, unwarranted verbal or physical annoyances, or unwarranted threats or unwarranted demands.

Skateboarding is still one of the split personalities within the USA. On the west coast it is completely accepted and tolerated. On the east coast, not so much.

Authoritarian prick cops are just about everywhere though.

When I am an old man, skateboarding is going to be mandatory within all public school phys ed. classes coast to coast.

Nothing like an overweight police officer talking about respect. Have a little respect for yourself, it's your job!!!

I (heart) police officers.

2008-02-12 09:16:50 AM
Ok. I'll admit it. I usually defend the police, their job is incredibly hard and for the most part extremely dangerous. In this case, he was dealing with a bunch of mouthy 14 year olds. He needed to calm down. Or call someone else. He made a bad situation worse. Their crime was skateboarding where they shouldn't have been. Not exactly a tasering offence. He needs to spend a weekend in a remedial class on public interaction or be reassigned. But. No got hurt. Maybe the kids learned a lesson that they shouldn't always mouth back, that authority has to be respected. You may not always like it, but you have to learn to keep your yap shut sometimes in life. It's just the way it is.

//Some of you need to relax a bit (reading through the comments). It's just a story. No need to blow a bionic circuit over something that didn't happen to you.

LordPistachio: As much as I hate Fark's incessant cop-bashing, here's a rare situation where it's actually justified. That officer should be fired.

I'm generally pro law but too many of the cops on today's streets are abusive assholes. They (as a group) have gotten much worse over the last 20 years or so.

Personally, I think they're still pissed off that Chuck Norris broke their code of silence with a roundhouse kick.

2008-02-12 09:17:56 AM
Love the last few seconds:

Cop: "You got that camera on? If I find myself on..."

2008-02-12 09:18:23 AM
min_tan: Who here hasn't wanted to beat the shiat out of a skateboarder.

On the other hand, I also agree with you. Two groups that I dislike the most in the world, for two completely different reasons. Overweight cops and Skaters. I'd love to see a no holds barred battle royale with these two groups on even ground. Hopefully few would get out alive.

2008-02-12 09:19:17 AM
What a farking prick. The only person doing the disrespecting is the officer, who should lose his badge and be forced to give a public apology not only to the kids but to the community as a whole.

2008-02-12 09:20:24 AM
I'll disrespect him, and thedarkshadow: But. No got hurt. Maybe the kids learned a lesson that they shouldn't always mouth back, that authority has to be respected. You may not always like it, but you have to learn to keep your yap shut sometimes in life. It's just the way it is.

Or maybe they learned that cops are the enemy, and authority gets abused so there's no good reason to respect it. Great life lessons there, huh?

So how often does this happen? Without the video no one would know about it and the kid would be sent to juvie if he tried to call the cop out.

2008-02-12 09:21:27 AM
They shouldn't suspend him. They should transfer his fat ass and his little cop car to where the real crimes of Baltimore are happening, like West Baltimore. Go and try that shiat out in the 'hood.

2008-02-12 09:21:38 AM
Im fine wit it. Kids today are giant douchebags. Back in the day the kids dad would do that, but now his dad is worried about his kids feelings and shiat.

Kids need a foot in the ass every now and then. Clearly this kids parents never did it. I'm certain that cop didn't just roll up and start harassing them.

2008-02-12 09:21:52 AM

Cops need to be held to a higher standard. Based on the video, this cop did nothing to earn any respect, and in my opinion the kid did the right thing by not giving him any.
