EXCELLENT!!!!!!!Emmitt Rules!!!

2002-10-27 06:00:40 PM
And Barry Sanders, if he had the least bit of interest, would be about 3,000 yards ahead of him at this point.

Of course Cowboy fans still haven't figured out that THEY LOST AT HOME TO SEATTLE! What a joke.

2002-10-27 06:02:47 PM
Larry Sanders? Geez, I know he has a successful show, but he was in the NFL?! WOOOOOOW!

2002-10-27 06:04:00 PM
i dont care what record he broke, any team that can lose to an expansion team on the first game of the season just sucks!

btw thats the only football game i have ever watched and its cause i was on Guard Duty and the Sergeant i was with was watching it and i wasnt bout to get bored!

2002-10-27 06:04:18 PM

What everyone really cares about is that Lions game.

2002-10-27 06:04:26 PM
well at least dallas lost

2002-10-27 06:04:57 PM
Fishing With Fredo: not to mention if Barry had Emmitt's O-line, surrounding cast, and coaching staff.

2002-10-27 06:07:11 PM
I think skittles deserve a spirit of sweetness award.

2002-10-27 06:07:17 PM
Barry Sanders is a quitter and a loser whilst Emmitt sports 3 Super Bowl rings. Scoreboard.

2002-10-27 06:08:53 PM
what's up with dallas' owner, jerry jones, and that freakish botched plastic surgery face lift???? is he trying to look like troy?

all that money and the dude farks up his face. go figure.

2002-10-27 06:09:41 PM
yeah, but the cowboys lost to the seachickens. which is hard to do, even when you're trying.

2002-10-27 06:11:03 PM
in other sports news, rob johnson continues to suck.

2002-10-27 06:12:15 PM
Smith is a stand-up guy, but I'd still rather see Sweetness with the record.

2002-10-27 06:12:38 PM
I too am sick of hearing about it. Glad it is a done deal..

Also glad that Baseball ends tonight,. I want the Simpsons back...

2002-10-27 06:13:34 PM
It's great that they had to fill the stands with people that were there just to see him break the record. I fell asleep as he was LOSING YARDS. Woke up and he had broke the record. I guess it's ok that he had 109 yards on 24 carries. If they keep handing him the ball, he's bound to break the record eventually. Very anti-climactic. I would have been impressed ONLY if he had a great run to break the record...broke a tackle and ran 50 for a td or something. Payton is still 1000x the man and 1000x the athlete that Smith is.

If If's and buts where candy and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas.

Man, Sanders quit cuz he wanted to, who know if he wouldn't have gotten hurt anyway. Probably not, but he quit and didn't get the yardage so give Emmitt his props for getting the all time greatest sports record ever!

2002-10-27 06:18:22 PM
Yeah I do believe Barry would hold the record but the mofo went crazy.

2002-10-27 06:20:09 PM
I miss Sweetness. Man, what a good player and all-around nice guy.

2002-10-27 06:23:11 PM
Yeah no kiddin, they've been showing that commercial for the Halloween Special for 3 weeks now. I need a Homer. And not the baseball kind.

The way this record was broken is a joke, reminds me of Cal Ripken when he wouldnt take himself out of the lineup after he was past his prime and young talents should have been put in instead.

2002-10-27 06:25:36 PM
The Cowboys stink, but Emmitt rules, but he will never be as great as Walter Payton

Killerbee in Dallas

back to Nascar

piss on emmitt. elwood and fishing are right. as a bears fan, i would have liked to see a REAL running back (sanders) do it instead. smith spent the first 6 seasons of his career with the best offensive line in the game as well as a good qb and good receiving corps. when you've got weapons like that, its hard not to be good. sanders, on the other hand, played on a winning team for something like 2 seasons with a horrible offense around him and STILL managed to get insane yardage. just like sweetness did. i'll give props to smith for doing it, but half that record goes to the rest of his team for making him something better than he really is.

i'm just bitter cause the bears got their asses handed to them.

2002-10-27 06:28:10 PM
Would've been impressive if he had broken the record like 5 years ago.

2002-10-27 06:30:39 PM
Heh, 34 comments.

Poor Walter. Emmitt Smith is an ass.

I remember when they won in '85...and can't help remembering how they've come oh so close to repeating that in all the years since..

nikkitos

man, how right you are. Ive always said that Cal Ripkens streak hurt the Orioles chances of ever winning a lot.

Emmit is the same way. Once good, then crappy, but uses name power to break records.

Emmitt Smith's last few years in football have been completely mediocre. He really doesnt deserve the record

2002-10-27 06:39:44 PM
Goddam bears fans. STFU already. GEEZ. I hate dallas, and I hate emmitt smith but Jeebus Krist STFU about peyton already. Peyton himself is a nice guy, but goddam bears fans make football no fun to talk about.

Take a deep breath.
1) The NFL rules allow other people besides peyton to play running back. There's nothing you can do about it.
2) Yes, peyton is and always will be one of the greatest ever.
3) All records fall eventually.
Therefore:
4) STFU, ftloc, STFU.

2002-10-27 06:40:50 PM
Great....now we get to see Jerry Jones fark him next year when he tells him to hit the fecking road.....true class that asshat Jones.

2002-10-27 06:40:53 PM
Ya, thank god Ripken got out of the way to yield to the excellent team that the Orioles have now.

2002-10-27 06:42:08 PM
wow. I've been saying Smith was done for about 5 years now, and he keeps on getting 1000 yard seasons. I've never really liked him, but give the man his due, he earned that record. He's not the player that Payton was, no argument there, but you can't say it isn't impressive for him to rack up close to 17000 yards in twelve and a half seasons. He's had good lines and generally good teams around him, but it still takes a hell of a running back to go over 1000 yards for eleven straight seasons.

Damn straight, man. Once a guy retires, we shouldn't be allowed to talk about him in reverential tones. Or compare him favorably to someone else. From now on, you can only talk about the guy that played today, and ignore all of those who came before him. All you Bear fans, no more Peyton talk. You disrespect Emmitt when you mention His name.

kinda interesting betting story about why payton didn't score a touchdown in the superbowl...

mike ditka's team was something like a 20 point underdog in one game... he was pissed that vegas put him that many points down (and they actually ended up losing by more than that)... he never forgot that and when chicago made it to the superbowl, a lot of people put money down on a long shot bet that refrigerator perry would score a touchdown... so ditka had the handoff go to perry instead of payton for one of chicago's touchdowns to get back a the vegas odds makers...

and now you know the rest of the story.

Alph, BNikitos -

yeah, a lot of people said that. and they were taling out of their asses.

2002-10-27 06:47:19 PM
please jeebus, tell Emmitt to retire.

[/disgruntled Dallas resident]

2002-10-27 06:50:47 PM
I AM Emmitt Smith. Not really but my lastname is Smith so that oughtta count for something.

*maybe not

2002-10-27 06:50:50 PM
Emmitt Smith's last few years in football have been completely mediocre. He really doesnt deserve the record.

What were Payton's last few years like? I don't know but I suspect that they were also mediocre. The only running back to retire at the top of his game was Jim Brown.

2002-10-27 06:51:09 PM
kerouac

yeah, IM talking out of my ass. What are emmitt smith's numbers this season? what were cal ripkens the last years of his career??

MEDIOCRE. AT. BEST.

If a rookie put up emmitts numbers now, he wouldnt be playing. You can argue, but obviously, youd be wrong.

2002-10-27 06:52:13 PM
and while we're at it, please jeebus bring the sniper out of retirement to shoot that stupid asshat Rowdy

2002-10-27 06:53:49 PM
Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders et al. can't even be put in the same league with the one and only, best RB ever, Jim Brown.
