It's not as good as the book!

2002-10-27 08:43:57 AM
sad indeed...

2002-10-27 08:44:26 AM
Sad?

Yeah right. I wish I'd seen it..

Damn 18+ IDing asshat theatre.

2002-10-27 08:47:49 AM
You should see the part where the guy does this thing with the other guy, and they both fall down.

2002-10-27 08:48:46 AM
lighten up people

Now if a Mariah Carey movie were number 1, that would be sad.

2002-10-27 08:49:26 AM
pffft. jackass = popular for about 110ms

stupid people.

should be called "asshats"

2002-10-27 08:49:49 AM
Tis like Hamlet.

2002-10-27 08:50:56 AM
Well, its what Americans want. Blood, gore and violence. Hell. If it had Sadam in it every patriotic blood-thirsty American would watch this movie.

2002-10-27 08:54:28 AM
Is there anything else worth seeing?

2002-10-27 08:59:23 AM
WTF is the problem with jackass anyways. Screw you hippies and your social responsibility it makes people laugh, and that is good. Why dont all you farking hypocrites go watch a wonderful life and STFU MOFOS.

2002-10-27 09:00:39 AM
Yeah Jackass is stupid guys. Don't waste your time. But Ghost Ship, now there is a quality movie.

2002-10-27 09:05:40 AM
Is Ghost Ship as good as Jaxon X?

2002-10-27 09:06:40 AM
Ooops, I mean JASON X!

2002-10-27 09:09:26 AM
Oh come on, pull the tighty whiteys or broomsticks or whatever out of your bums and laugh a little. People like the movie because it's funny and different, don't be so uptight! If you can't like a funny movie then, well... you suck =)

2002-10-27 09:13:25 AM
Why are people paying $10-15 a pop to see something they could be renting on video for a quarter the cost? At least Star Wars films make sense on a big screen. I don'geddit, mon.

2002-10-27 09:13:56 AM
I've heard Jackass IS funny and I plan to see it eventually. But I expect to see a chorus of nanny-state liberals and theocratic conservatives on television attacking "Jackass - The Movie" as the end of American civilization.

2002-10-27 09:15:43 AM
I smell sequel.

2002-10-27 09:16:06 AM
Jackass is farking hilarious. Quit being so uptight, it provides a carefree release from life for two farking hours. Some of the shiat they do is pretty clever.

Is there anything else worth seeing?

That's a no shiatter...

2002-10-27 09:17:04 AM
Far worse movies have made it to #1 in America, so who cares. I liked one reviewer of the movie who said something like 'would you rather see Tom Cruise pretend to be scared, or watch Steve-o be actually scared to death of an alligator?'

2002-10-27 09:17:11 AM
Ill be seeing it...As soon as it comes out over here.

I liked it, my friends liked it, everyone in the theater liked it. Matter of fact, here in Raleigh, they sold out one show and had to open another show at the same to accomodate all the people that wanted to go see it.

I don't give a fark if you liked it or not, it was a good 90 minutes or so of funny shiat.

What's so sad?

It's not like people go to it expecting great cinematography and a strong plot. It's just freaking funny. I haven't laughed so hard any comedy's that have come out recently.

You people need to lighten up. I bet their isn't a single person that will comment on here that has seen the movie, and didn't like it. It's physical and situational humor. Would you say it was sad if a Charley Chaplin movie was re-released and it was number 1? Of course not. Some people need to get off their horses.

The movies funny. What's so wrong with that? No one is saying it's intellectual. No one is saying it's moving. It's a farking comedy for craps sake. You go to it, to laugh. And Jackass has laughter in spades.

Spoobnooble: The reason you go to see it in the theater, is that their are tons of other people there. It's just atmosphere. When everyone in the theater is falling in the isles from laughter, it just makes it funnier. And you need to find a new movie theater. 10-15 bucks a pop??

2002-10-27 09:26:13 AM
Better or worse than camp kill yourself 2k? [3k sucked methinks]

2002-10-27 09:28:56 AM
I rarely watch TV anymore, but on Friday I was a bit bored and just flipped on MTV. On was "Jackass the Movie, The Making Of". After watching 15 minutes of it I was like wtf is wrong with these people. God. Seriously, something is mad farked in this country.

2002-10-27 09:35:37 AM
I'm a scumbag, I have no standards. And my life is great because of it.

Thank you

2002-10-27 09:46:52 AM
Ghost Ship was about as enjoyable as having your scrotum sucked into a meat grinder. If Jackass was inferior to this, i think i'll steer clear of it

2002-10-27 09:47:31 AM
whats with these asshat mods, jackass is hilarious, the only sad thing is their attitude

2002-10-27 09:50:48 AM
Jesus Christ.

$25M this weekend?

It cost what, 500k to make? MAYBE $1M???

I hope Knoxville was smart enough to take part of the gross in his contract.....

I bet this thing does $100M.

2002-10-27 09:53:08 AM
The Horsemen are getting restless.

2002-10-27 09:53:09 AM
Yes, this movie was probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen, but I laughed the whole way through. Some parts were just too painful to watch and over the top ["Paper Cuts" in particular], but they managed to pack in so much that they could never have done on TV into this movie that I couldn't help but love it.

Yes, America is farked up, so all you people who use that stupid cliche insult "asshat" over and over in this thread obviously haven't realized that.

Loraksus: Hard to say really. I think this movie just barely beats out CKY2K.

FarkinConstrictor: Everyone in the theatre when I was there was laughing their asses off the entire time too. I don't think anyone there went home without at least a dozen good laughs.

2002-10-27 09:56:26 AM
Knoxville was on our local radio station the other day. Said it cost 500k to make. DJ told him it would gross 25mil first weekend and Knoxville didn't believe it.

Said there wouldn't be any sequals because he didn't want it to get lame and watered down.

I wasn't planning on seeing it.. but what the hell, 90 min of fooling around for 7-8 bucks.. I'm spent worse money.

2002-10-27 09:58:25 AM
the theater that i saw it in was pretty empty. I don't think theh success will last more than these first 3 days.

Its funny and pretty stupid... not that much better than the show.

CKY2K is better in someways I think.

2002-10-27 09:58:34 AM
if you find this sad, then go watch farking "Titanic" you farking pricks

HAW!!!

2002-10-27 10:03:05 AM
Sad? Maybe if you're an art film fag who's upset that Igby Goes Down isn't playing everywhere. But then comes the conundrum. If Igby Goes Down does play everywhere, is it still and art film? Does it still meet the requirements for pretentious fags to enjoy it?

Meh, I'll stick with Jackass. I hope they release all the seasons on DVD.

2002-10-27 10:09:50 AM
The theme song to this movie is "We Want Fun" by Andrew WK. From the guy who brought you "Party Hard", "She is Beautiful", "Party Til You Puke", and more.

I want to see it, if just for the spectacle. They did some farking hilarious stuff on the show.

2002-10-27 10:13:22 AM
Jackass was the number one show on MTV before the Osbornes decided to have a camera crew over for dinner... its no surprise

2002-10-27 10:20:48 AM
hehe, I like the CKY videos Bam Margera did.

2002-10-27 10:23:39 AM
Andrew WK is farking amazing. I'm still sore from his show 6 days ago. SIX. but i am really out of shape, too

2002-10-27 10:28:13 AM
It was funny, but being on the big screen adds nothing. If I was 1/2 as stoned as most of the people there, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

2002-10-27 10:31:15 AM
Stop focusing on the bad, see the good! The Ring made 19 million dollars. Thats 4 million more than last weekend. Its been a long long time since a major studio release has made more on its second weekend than it did opening weekend. So... all you people biatching about Jackass, go see The Ring. NOW biatch!

2002-10-27 10:33:45 AM
And sooooooooooooo..........
would the movie critics rather we all sat home and watched CNN??????? or maybe we should all go out and rent a copy of "TheSoundof Music" or "Dr. Schivago". Get over it !!!this movie is popular for a reason, and the critics are only pissed because they didn't have the idea first. I am going to watch it, maybe more than once......and if the movie critics don't like it......they can kiss the last two inched of my large intestine.

2002-10-27 10:35:42 AM
my friend and i saw it last night. Hes only 15 and i'm only 16. It was actually one of the funniest movies i have ever seen. The toy car was just sick. And the only non-funny parts were party boy.

Typical MTV viewer

2002-10-27 10:38:47 AM
The whole damn movie was great! I bet there are some Muslim fundamentalists who would like to crash some planes over this movie, though.

2002-10-27 10:48:56 AM
I can see how this might be funny to the average nerd who goes to stileproject, or a really immature MTV viewer, but you are not going to throw this into the comedy bin. People hurting themselves just isnt funny to me at all, and I hate that other people find it funny. go see the Ring instead!

Capsule review of Jackass:

It's a train wreck full of midget clowns. You're horrified and shocked by what you're seeing, but you can't look away or stop laughing.

Having said that... I walked out of the theater feeling vaguely nauseous (from the camera movement in some places), vaguely indignant (I felt I should have been offended, but I didn't really know why), and with aching sides from laughing so hard.
