Firm, direct action solves problems--not 'coalition building.'

Good job, ya Russkie bastards.

Kudos to the Russian Specical Ops here. 700 held 90 die. 50+ captors with automatic weapons and explosives.

90 die in a raid. Damn good job in my opinion.

Imagine what the body count would have been if this happened in a theater in LA or NYC.

Well done, indeed. Nothing on this scale attempted before.

Head of the Chechnya administration Ahmad Kadyrov expressed his strongest approval of the actions of the Russian leadership. In his words, "the world has no examples of special operations held so competently and effectively as the recent hostage release operation in Moscow." ..."The terrorists have made the grossest mistake. They expected to slap Russia in the face; however, on the contrary, the authority of the country on the international scene has increased many times. Russia demonstrated that it was resolute in its struggle against terrorism, and neither the president, nor the government will give this hard line up," Ahmad Kadyrov says.

To paraphrase, "They counted on Russia to be passive. They counted wrong."

I feel ashamed to say it when 90 hostages are dead..

Russian special forces did the best they could do under the circumstances. Terrorists were already shooting hostages.

Gas agent was used and terrorists wired with bombs were stunned and shot before more damage was done, seems like more bloodshed was avoided.

From another story on Pravda:

"We started the storm at 5:00 a.m. Sleeping gas was let into the theatre hall through the ventilation, several grenades were fired right in the hall. We managed to liquidate the female kamikaze: soldiers penetrated into the hall through special crawlways and shot the sleeping terrorists point-blank. Right at the temple. I agree that it's cruel, but when you see a man with two kilograms of plastid strapped to the body, there is no other way to neutralize him."

Excellent. A shame so many hostages died, but they were right on the money with the proper way to deal with terrorists - liquidate and shoot the sleeping ones. No trials, no martyers in the courts or in jail. Dead and buried.

And from another story on the site:

"Terrorists seized during the storming are currently being interrogated at the Prosecutor's Office"

Sucks to be them (ha HA!).

"Terrorists seized during the storming are currently being interrogated at the Prosecutor's Office"

Translation: Torturers are taking turns smashing their testicles with rubber mallets while simultaneously ass raping them with asbestos dildos covered in crushed glass, steel wire, and tabasco.

Uh oh, a light bulb just lit up over Bush's head.

"Hmmmm... kill people, approval ratings go up. I like it."

That date raping snuff video ought to catch a pretty penny on the depraved circuit. Point blank to the temple of gassed out terrorists. Sweet-farking-jebbus. Normally I would cry foul but these people asked for it 1 million times over. Just get with th program, accept Russian rule and get over it. Da Ruski aint giving up to no head chopping jihadists. Especially since their rich Uncle Osama is crying a river in his last will and testament. I think I'll have a Grey Goose and tonic in appreciation of the hard nosed Russian action.

90 hostages dead?

Damn, that's sad. All they wanted was to see a play.

The Russians did all they could, in my opinion.

So, the next time you see the dudes in cami's with the blue and white striped undershirts, tip your hat. Spetznaz is a top flight outfit. Evn now, with a severely resticted ops budget, they rock.

I'm sorry they weren't able to get everyone out alive. I'm impressed though, that they acctually captured the murderers instead of just killing them out of hand. Very professional.

Rock on, Ivan!

2-6.

There will newer be a cooler people then the russians

Great, now Bush is going to get some grand "ideas" to gain popularity.

Unless Gore beats him to it.

What the Russians did was quite impressive, but imagine the same senario playing in the US. If we had done the same thing, most likely all hell would have been let loose since all possible negotiatoins woulnd't have been tried (at least some people would think so).
90 died, terrorists shot while asleep, knowing the good ol people of the US, lawsuits would have sprung up everywhere. Cruelty and what not.
Most importanlty tho, if this had happend in the US, our special forces would have probably messed up somewhere.... in which case many more people would have died.
I'm all for what the Russians did, but if that happend in the US, people wouldn't take it as lightly.

Thats my 2 cents
Jarek

that was quick. that's how to handle terrorists. you fight fire with fire, these people were asking for it.

2002-10-27 06:29:20 AM
Umm, ok.

You people DO know that the majority of the hostages killed were killed by the nerve gas the russian "rescuers" used right?

No you probably don't. Amazing how willing you are to accept the same Pravda you ridiculed 15 years ago. Sheep.

2002-10-27 02:44:06 PM
Uh oh. Now if we get pissed at Russia we can start saying that they gassed their own people too.

I'm not aware, so I'll ask. Has Pravda changed significantly in the past fifteen years (or since the fall of the USSR) or what? It's not something I keep up with.

2002-10-27 07:10:59 PM
WTF? Where is everyone getting their news? This operation is a failure in my opinion. over 100 hostages died due to the gas they used! Only one or two were found to have died from gunshots wounds from the chechnyans. What an absolute farkup!

Get off your arse and go reread the news stories.
