The Pats lost.
They are now the standard in FAIL.

If you look closely, you can see the explosives used to collapse the New England Patriots.

2008-02-04 04:35:08 PM
Yeah, somehow I don't see any investigations by congress into this.

The Pats did indeed lose, but they have a looooong way to go before replacing Chimpoleon as the standard in FAIL.

2008-02-04 04:36:30 PM
Clearly it's not enough that they challenged a penalty that was never even called.

/of course it isn't: they still lost.

I'm not a football fan, but I did watch the game, and all I have to say is that I seriously do not think that such a huge error would have been allowed given all the money tied up in this thing. Using your kitchen clock? Right....

2008-02-04 04:36:46 PM
You lost, shut the hell up. Man up and take it, don't get all female on us.

I expect a genial conversation to discuss the finer points of football strategy.

I'm sure that there will be no "the sports team from my area is far superior to the sports team from your area" nor will there be "they are poopieheads, so nyah".

/I expect to be disappointed

2008-02-04 04:37:40 PM
but the Patriots already knew the play because they were taping Giants practices. So, fair is fair.

CheatCommando: The Pats did indeed lose, but they have a looooong way to go before replacing Chimpoleon as the standard in FAIL.

They are simply the Chimpoleons of football for now.

What does it matter? It's like arguing with the ref in baseball; it might be cathartic, but it has no effect on the outcome of the game.

2008-02-04 04:38:14 PM
Yeah, I noticed that, but I do not think that means what you think it means. The game clock that was shown by Fox and the *actual* game clock were not synched up a few times. Just because Fox apparently forgot what they were doing during the biggest game of the year doesn't mean that the clock was run improperly. The best example was during the first drive by the Giants, the clock shown by Fox locked up at 6:12, when the Giants actually kicked the field goal with about 5:03 remaining.

In other words, much like the Patriots, you Fail.

2008-02-04 04:38:23 PM
Jews did super bowl.

2008-02-04 04:38:45 PM
Oh, and a few extra seconds wouldn't have mattered any way. Giants had the ball and would have just downed it to run up the 1:35 left on the clock.

2008-02-04 04:38:54 PM
Actually remember noticing this while it was happening - even Joe Buck commented on how they put extra time on the clock. Oh well.
Pitchers and catchers report in two weeks.

It does if you hit him with a whiskey bottle... or so I've heard.

actually one thing I was thinking about last night game was "The Fix Is In".

If the Pats played a week game then bet against them selves they would make a fortune. They probably just wanted to let the Giants beat the spread, so they could still make the 19-0 record, but it got away from them thanks to that miraculous play in the fourth quarter.

Oh well, they still have their illegal gambling proceeds to comfort their sorrows.

2008-02-04 04:40:32 PM
I'm no football analyst, but I'm pretty sure that the Pats lost because the Giants scored more points.

2008-02-04 04:40:46 PM
Brady's glad that there wasn't any time left on the clock. You think he could have taken another hit like that?

More time = More punishment

2008-02-04 04:40:54 PM
Officials can stop the clock to measure even if it's just a visual measurement by the officials. They don't technically have to bring the chains out. No need to penalize the offense 10 extra seconds because the officiating crew is mulling whether or not to bring out the chains.

I said it in another thread, but I'll say it again. The officiating crew did an outstanding job. They are not the reason the Pats lost... the Giants' are.

/This guy is an idiot
//A whiny one at that

football has strategy too?

i thought it was just a homoerotic thing.

And I thought the phallic guitars in the half-time shows were merely coincidental...
