Same thing is happening on Fox 11 out of Green Bay - it's been off and on all night.

2008-02-03 09:03:33 PM
Nope, not missing much... most sports on tv is snoozefest, but this takes the cake...

I'm in Arkansas watching on Fox 16- I thought they covered pretty much the whole state. I guess not.

Call the Whaaaambulance! Its a horrible tragedy.

Must be related to those intertube pipes getting cut by "boat anchors" overseas.

a long time ago, i worked production at a cbs affiliate in meridian, ms.

we lost power during the country music awards show, just as they were announcing "country music entertainer of the year."

it went like this: "...and the winner is" SNOW

the power came on again after a few minutes. viewers called, but we didn't know who won either.

a few months later, when the OJ jury came back with a verdict, we put ourselves on generator power to keep the same thing from happening again.

Looks like it might be the network's fault. So, he probably still has a job, but it still sucks to be him (probably got called in)... and the assignment editor, too.

/not called in
//scheduled

I remember losing the feed once...

...back in NAM!

2008-02-03 09:10:45 PM
It sucks, but it's not as bad as it seems. It looks like their feed to Direct TV/Dish Network is down, as well as their standard over the air feed.

If you have regular cable, you're all set.

2008-02-03 09:13:39 PM
I'm running the feed for WMFD-AM, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.

I'm not really a football fan, so the game... meh.

/I hear it before you see it!

If they're enot broadcasting the local commercials over the air, that means they're losing about a million $ every local commercial break. I guess you should have sprung for a backup fiber line to your transmitter, huh?

It's all a clever ploy by them satellite monkeys to get you up off your fat ass to go to the bathroom, instead of using your pop bottle.

American football? Let me resume it for you. Bunch of supposedly straight guys in tights bend over a lot. Throw a ball, run for 3 seconds, most of the other guys just grab each other and stand still, everything stops for 5 minutes. Lots of talking, over-analyzing of trivialities, instant replays of some guy's elbow going over a line? Not going over a line? Exciting. Woo. Hoo.

Guess he should be paying attention to those "career builder dot com" commercials during the game.

/wait, nevermind

Local stations in an average sized city get about $5-10k a :30 for the Super Bowl. Most stations have interruption of service insurance, but the commissioned ad salespeople are screwed. And they'll be more screwed because it was in sweeps, and it will affect what they can charge for regular spots into the summer.

that being said, in the rest of the world's version of football, goals are followed with team members leaping onto eachothers shoulders and face humping.

And thats a bad thing?

Back in the early 80's I lived in a very small town in Oklahoma -- county population was about 4,000-5,000. Library was in an old house, there were two banks and two traffic lights, a couple of bars, a Pizza Hut, two diners, two convenience stores, a burger joint and one liquor store.

Very few crimes -- one murder in the two years I was there, and the grocery store got robbed once. Left the house unlocked, keys in the car, banks still had counter checks, and you could finance stuff just by signing the sales receipt.

Of course a single guy from out of town had no chance of scoring a decent woman. If they made it to 15 without being married, engaged, pregnant or some combination of the three, they were so ugly, deformed or psycho no one wanted them.
