Easy?? Have you ever applied for a patent extension due to a new license? You have to jump through hoops. Plus you have to add in all the trials, starting again at phase 1. Time and money go into extension licenses, often all in vain as the MDA decides it is of no benefit, even though most prescribers are already using it off-license anyway.
