Barack Obama's prospects of winning the Democratic Party nomination and ultimately the White House may depend on hordes of enthusiastic youngsters like Edmund "Teddy" Nicholson, from Lewes, East Sussex.

The 18-year-old political novice is spending his gap year after leaving Sevenoaks School campaigning for the Illinois senator across America. He spent two weeks sleeping on a couch in New Hampshire before moving south with Mr Obama's army of youthful volunteers to prepare for next week's "Super Tuesday" contests.

He has just helped to open an Obama campaign outpost in the backroom of a dentist's office in Savannah, Georgia - one of only two Super Tuesday states where Mr Obama is ahead in the polls.

This kid is hardcore.

It's always been interesting how other countries pay attention to US politics but nobody in the US gives a fark about anyone else's. If more college kids got off their asses like this kid does, Obama would have it in the bag.

Submitter: 1776: The British are coming.

Wrong. The midnight ride of Paul Revere (who never shouted "The British are coming!", but did say "The regulars are coming out!") took place in April 1775.

FAIL.

I think electing utter retards helps keep your politics interesting for foreign onlookers. It's kind of like watching a slow motion car crash. We keep watching to see if you'll stop the crash at the four year mark or just let it keep going.

21-7-b: fantastic. he has already establishe an outpost

everything is proceding according to plan.

i would imagine that a guy with a british accent trying to convince americans to vote for anyone would actually achieve exactly the opposite. if theres one thing the septics dont like it the british trying to tell them what to do.

i think people outside america want to see you guys get back on track. i mean i know that sounds a bit full of our selfs considering we all don't have perfect leaders (i hate mine), but ours are at least better than what you guys have got. i remember watching elections for you guys and thinking "oh god i hope it isn't him because we have to put up with him too.". i think after 8 years of world opinion of you guys going straight down the tubes, people who know most americans are better than this ,want to see you get back on your feet so to speak.

but if you guys elect Clinton or a repub then i will stop feeling bad for you. i mean honestly, when you are digging yourself a hole, just put down the farking shovel.

ElPresidente: The regulars are coming out

Yep, but if it were not for William Dawes and Sam Prescott the ride would never have been finished. Paul gets all the credit but he was caputured and still held while the others still rode. The others were captured too but managed to get free earlier to continue the alarm.

Those of us who actually give a crap about our country.

Dear Americans,

Don't be so ashamed of your president: the majority of you didn't vote for him. If Bush is finally elected properly, that will be the time for Americans travelling abroad to simulate a Canadian accent. Please don't let it come to that. Vote against Bin Laden's dream candidate. Vote to send Bush packing.

Worked last time.

It is interesting to note that paying a foreign national to serve on an American political campaign is illegal.

It also is illegal for a foreign national to contribute to an American political campaign. However, the FEC does not treat "volunteered" labor here as an in-kind contribution.

As much as I love the Brits, something just does not seem right about foreign nationals being involved in political campaigns, even as volunteers.

/rant off

Obviously an ABPAC operative, trying to influence the US government for the benefit of Britain.

This is just the first step in the grand plan. Initially we volunteer in your elections, and then we play minor roles in staffing your administrations.

Next thing you know, we'll be taxing your tea, motherfarkers.

Won what exactly? Taxes on our friggin tea, as Ruz revealed?

Next thing you know they'll go all Stamp Act on us and require us to buy animated gifs of George Michael that we must attach to all of our email messages. And that will mean more bandwith, and higher internet connection fees.

/a vote against Obama is a vote for freedom from taxation without representation

this, we're very much in favour of Obama over here but i am worried if the yanks somehow realised this they wouldn't be too pleased and vote 'idiot' again

FTA: "One of the reasons I am out here is that I like American politics more than British politics," Mr Nicholson said. "In this country people believe in the political system. They believe that, particularly with a candidate like Obama, greats things can be done. I am tired of the cynicism of British politics."

you utter, public-school, high minded coont, next you'll be saying you like the argies
