HAHA. I've never seen that one. Even better than Raptor Jesus.

This clearly shows that Hillary will do and say anything to win. A few months ago I didn't think she would be too bad if she was elected. Now I see that she is truly despicable.

I only wish that our media would ask her some tough questions about this. Ask her if she would be pushing so hard to these delegates to count if she had not received more votes. Ask her if Obama had been the only name on the ticket in Michigan what she would think of him if he were trying to pull the same crap.

DamnYankees: yotta: Give me a break. 50% to 30% is a victory even if she did not win any delegates. If nothing, it shows she has strong support in a troublesome state.

Really? Winning a state by less than Obama won NC when there was zero campaigning, meaning the state was voted on almost entirely by name recognition, is a victory?

Yeah this is what I'm pondering as well. Obama's gaining momentum. Take into account some 1,000,000 early ballots and the fact that Obama had a much stronger presence among those who actually voted on Tuesday, you could spin this as a victory for Obama.

I'd love to see the results for those who voted on 1/29 against who voted before.

Barbigazi: um I think Obama just had his Dean moment. CNN is quoting him as saying the Florida results are pointless, that he and Hillary got tied on delegates so it doesn't matter.

I'd bet that by tomorrow morning the Hillary camp will be all over the news asking why Obama doesn't care about the 540,000 people who took time out of their days to cast a vote for him even though they know it won't matter. The spin is going to be that he doesn't care about your vote if it won't make him president.

If you look at the number Hillary had 140,000 more votes than McCain. Thats 140,000 more people that came out to make a bullshait vote than people who came to make one that counted. Florida matters.

i think it's interesting that all the Clintonistas are calling for Obama to have his "Dean Moment", which was, iirc, a completely meaningless moment blown way out of proportion by the mainstream media that helped bring about the downfall of a popular candidate that wanted to bring about real change so that the Democrats eventually wound up with a more conventional candidate that went on to lose to the GOP.

i don't think you've thought your cunning plan all the way through.

Hopefully Gore will too. I have doubts about the Governator. What would his fellow Republicans think.

2008-01-30 12:10:40 AM
Plus, no democratic delegates are being awarded this year from Florida due to the fight with the National committee. So it doesn't matter.

47 is the new 42: ///Also why might you not get to vote in your primary thanks to the ACLU?

Paper ballots!

I'm really ambivalent about it. I didn't even get to vote in the last presidential election. I was one of many registered dems who didn't get their absentee ballots...due to a change in command in the Cuyahoga county board of elections a month before the election.

//Doubt I would have voted for Kerry, anyway.

hawkman2337: Shaggy_C: Nope; a political party is a private organization. Up until the 1900's, presidential candidates were chosen in dark, smoke-filled rooms by a few party elite before they were pushed on the public as their offering for the coming election. Primaries didn't even exist until the mid 1900s

I know the system changed, but there has been a large amount of legal reform to the system since the 1950s, with an emphasis on voters rights. Some of these include regulations on primaries and party votes, such as forbidding closed votes (i.e. White Primaries). The shame here is that I graduated with a poli-sci degree, but those government courses were a long time ago, and the force has become weak within me...

Shaggy is completely correct. The party is a private entity. The suit filed in Florida against the national party sanctioning the state in the primary election never even was allowed to be argued. It was summarily dismissed.

Technically speaking, if either the republican or democratic party wanted to, they could simply tell the US people who the candidate was going to be for their party.

You do realize the HRC is going to wait till the convention and then demand that she gets all the delegates from the states that were punished because they moved their primaries.

The argument will be along the lines of "we can't let the votes of the people be denied" and they will trot out the poor, the minor, the sad and the pathetic.

If the democrats somehow make it the convention without any candidate winning the required number of delegates and the addition of MI or FL would put the Hildabeast over the top, you can guarandamntee that she will be using every political angle and trick she can get to get them counted. Actually, with her recent statements, that process has already started.

If that happened though, I would think the democratic party would have a massive meltdown during the general election phase. Too many people would feel as if they had been cheated.

I may be able to shed some light on this mystery:

Follow on question: How many women do you know who feel the single most important qualification for being President is allegedly having a vagina?

Given your situation, I'm guessing the answer is none.

Bill Frist:
Or it means that most voters just went with the only name they recognized on the ballot and it is unlikely she would have gotten that much support if Obama could have compaigned and let people know who he was.

Because nobody has TV in Florida
Nobody in florida watches CNN, MSNBC, Fox, CNN Headline News, or local news coverage of the primaries.

As has been noted,

60% of Hillary's vote came from people who sent in absentee ballots well over a month ago. At that time, Obama was mostly unknown.

Obama actaully WON amongst people who voted within the last month.

cmunic8r99: i never understood why Democrats would disenfranchise so many voters. Let alone Florida voters. You'd think they learned something from 2000.

But that's been the Democrats downfall election after election. Even when they have a good thing going and appear to chugging along well they always seem to find some way to fark the whole thing up. For example, I'm looking at the current in-fighting between the Obama and Clinton teams and it makes me want to slap those dopey farks. Just tell us what you want to do when you're elected and we'll decide the rest based on your plans -- quit your immature bickering, you clods!

Obama's win among people who actually went to the polls may also be due to the amount of old people that send in absentee ballots. Old people love Hillary.

I heard ~400k were supposedly cast prior to today.. so if even 350k were cast over a month ago, she'd have had to have gotten nearly every farking one.
