We can feel that there's an increasing market for this type of product, as some of our customers order extremely expensive wines without blinking an eye

So in other words, take them for everything that they will give you.

Oh, and I read the article.

All it says is that they want to compete with restaurants selling expensive wine. So...they price their beer ridiculously high?

I love beer and but it's just not meant to be that expensive. It's like an $80,000 Civic. Sure it can run the quarter in about 10 seconds but it's still a goddamned Civic. It's beer for chrissakes

It apppears to be aged in wooden barrels. However, I don't understand the pricing myself as there are plenty of barrel aged U.S. craft beers available that are much much cheaper.

All big breweries try and jump on the craft beer bandwagon and nearly all fail. And they better have a damn good reason to charge this much. Sam Adams Utopias costs ~$100.00 per bottle and at least they attempt to justify the cost with the groundbreaking processes and aging techniques to produce the first beer at 25% alcohol.

I see nothing like that here.

$400 a glass for Carlsberg? The stuff they sell in the States tastes like crap, but it's still a cheap drunk. If you don't mind tin can head the following day.

As long as pot stays the same price I think I'll be OK.

I've had Utopias, it's awesome, but not something you drink more than a few ounces of at a time. Current favourite is Firestone Walker #11, unfortunately the only place I've found it is rationing it's stock due to demand. Could only score one bottle at $17, but it's hands down the most awesome beer I've had in a long while.

I kinda feel that way about almost all beers on continental Europe.

no problem..
here in NYC area we are kinda used to this stuff, it seems like every major hotel is now creating some overly priced appetizer or dessert so that the newspapers and local tv will do a story on them. It is a great way to get free advertising, and lets face it, there is always some rich douchenozzle that will buy it to be sheik.
