Ummm...if he will take first with a walk anyway, why not throw fire at his head? (Barry has few friends in Pittsburgh).
2002-10-22 06:57:56 PM

...because next inning you'd have poached Salmon, garroted Anderson and a little Ecks marking the spot.

Shock the monkey!
2002-10-22 07:17:10 PM
I really wanna see Eckstein get beaned. I'm praying to the Greek god Hitbypitcheus that it will happen.
2002-10-22 07:24:14 PM
They can walk Barry After he feeds us all tacos.
2002-10-22 08:37:53 PM
These numbers don't take into account the possiblity of the "juiced" ball, of course. =)

"Pitch 'em the funny one, Robert! Big whiffer! Big whiffer!"

I really hope the Angels pitch to him...his at-bats are some of the most exciting moments in baseball today.
2002-10-22 08:38:51 PM
Why walk Bonds when you can just hit him in the head?
2002-10-22 08:41:21 PM
Why hit in the head when you can just make fun of how he makes millions of dollars hitting a ball with a goddamn stick?

Now I'm depressed.
2002-10-22 08:41:31 PM
The situation that this guy layed out: runner on 2nd, one out, I guarantee you that, in a close game, the manager will most likely walk Barry. A double play gets you out of the inning, and I'd much rather deal with Benito Santiago than let Barry hit a 2 run shot.

Mathemeticians no nothing about baseball.
2002-10-22 08:42:18 PM
Of course you pitch to him. You pitch to everybody. But what you don't do is make a mistake and hang the ball over the sweet spot.
The times I'd intentionally walk him are in close games when there's zero or one baserunners. Then.
2002-10-22 08:44:15 PM
Why couldn't they do like in the movies and have the catcher just say something wacky to Barry like "Hey last night I did your mom last night." It's so easy I've seen it in every baswball movie ....even in Sandlot

/kidding (tag for dumb dumbs that thinks I'm seious)
2002-10-22 08:46:15 PM
No Thirdrail, you throw him the floater. Haven't you seen Rookie of the Year?
2002-10-22 08:47:45 PM
i say pitch to him. i want a free taco
2002-10-22 08:48:10 PM
Wldncrzy14, I totaly forgot about that one. When are these pitchers going to learn from hollywood?
2002-10-22 08:49:17 PM
2002-10-22 08:52:15 PM
they just walked him
2002-10-22 08:59:08 PM
math eats dick.

thats all i got.
2002-10-22 08:59:26 PM
So, just to be clear, if he pitches that means he wears 'the pants' in the homosexual relationship, right?
2002-10-22 09:03:27 PM
Holy crap. They managed to make baseball even MORE boring.

"He hit the shiat outta THAT ball, didn't he?! Now he gets a free taco..."
2002-10-22 11:16:40 PM
You don't pitch to him when it's 8-2.

Oops, 8-4. A mere 400-footer
2002-10-22 11:24:04 PM
Maybe if they throw it hard enough at his head, it'll get stuck in there.

I want my free taco!!! Im rooting for the Angels, but if I can get a free taco if Bonds can hit that floating sign, its every man for himself.
2002-10-22 11:25:19 PM
If any player hits the target it's free tacos.
2002-10-22 11:25:22 PM
I say no one should pitch to him until he passes a drug test.
2002-10-22 11:33:06 PM
hah, this doesn't take a mathematician to figure out. the formula is obvious!

baseball = sucks
2002-10-22 11:34:18 PM
looks like the real question is whether to walk eckstein or not. or bean him (wildncrazy), since i think he led the league in that.

walking bonds or not doesnt make much difference for the angels. angels in 5.
2002-10-22 11:51:44 PM
has anyone seen where the Taco Bell target is in the bay?... one hell of a shot, but pepsico will take it in the a$$ if someone hits it. guess they figured since the ball is juiced, make it nearly farkin' impossible.
2002-10-23 12:19:48 AM
"but pepsico will take it in the a$$ if someone hits it"

hardly. people get a coupon for 1 free 69 cent taco... pepsico has run the numbers enough times to know that people aren't gonna take the time out to get 1 fricking taco... because this is now the society of the obese, most people are gonna also buy something like the mucho nachos, a couple burritos and a taco salad. oh, and a diet coke. hence, mucho denaro for pepsico.
2002-10-23 12:44:02 AM
does anyone else here hate Bonds as much as I do?

He's got such a smug attitude about him, the way he has that slow walk from the batter's box when he hits a homer, like he's just too god damned special to put any effort in going around the bases.

And that whole pointing to the sky thing when he steps on home plate really makes me want to punch him in the face.

seriously, if you're gonna have that attitude, go play some other sport like basketball or football. it doesn't belong in baseball.
2002-10-23 01:48:50 AM
pepsico will take it in the a$$ if someone hits it

It's probably insured.
2002-10-23 02:23:34 AM
Moskie:Ever watch when he hits a single or double? Bonds runs and slides and gets dirty just like everyone else. When he homers he just kinda watches it go, along with everyone else in the park. Doesn't anger me any if he wants to take a 3-second break as long as he plays the rest of the game.

Damn, I hate Randy Moss.
2002-10-23 07:52:46 AM
Bonds. Fu-cking 'roider.
2002-10-23 09:39:25 AM
Pepsico will NOT lose money if someone hits the sign. They will make money, because the odds are that you won't just get the free'll buy a drink too. A one dollar soda cost them about 3¢. A 69¢ taco probably only costs them 30¢ to make. And odds are you will buy more stuff too. it is a gimmick to get you in the door and free word-of-mouth advertising. Taco Bell is raking it in because of this.

Oh, and yes, you should pitch to Bonds in most situations. He batted 370....63% of the time he'll make an out.

Ex: Barry has hemorrhoids?
