I thanks this is funny, but then i am a sick bastard.

no, wait, it is funny. Fark you you over sensitive asshats.

Sing it with me... "Born under a bad sign"

but people in some of the neighboring businesses said they wish the sign would come down, at least while the DC sniper is still on the loose.

It's only tasteless while there's a sniper in DC. So after he kills a dozen people and finally gets caught, suddenly it's ok to welcome snipers? And what about the good snipers, that work for the Swat team or DEA or our military, are they not welcome just because there is a sniper loose in DC?

So many questions, so little time.

2002-10-23 12:18:47 AM
Yeah, let's worry about one little sign that's 3000 fvcking miles away from the actual sniper.

He may be a good shot, but he's not *that* good.

2002-10-23 12:18:55 AM
PC is the biggest bunch of bullsheit propoganda to ever cross the minds of America's citizens.....PC must stop now!!!

2002-10-23 12:19:04 AM
there's no such thing as a "good sniper", especially when they work for the DEA.

2002-10-23 12:19:29 AM
There goes that business again, "shooting" their mouth off. Everyone there should be "fire"d. They are never on "target".

2002-10-23 12:19:56 AM
dont lose yer sense of humor

2002-10-23 12:19:57 AM
OHHhh...
I thought they meant snipe hunters welcome.

My bad.

2002-10-23 12:20:19 AM
Hay Oregon, who's the asshat now?

2002-10-23 12:20:35 AM
I will say it again. This is not political correctness. This is people being absurdly oversensitive.

Political Correctness can only be invoked when it is people responding to a racial or gender-related issue. Not random offended people.

2002-10-23 12:20:52 AM
The BeltWay Buzzard is not a sniper in any sense of the word.

Period.

Opportunistic murderer maybe.

2002-10-23 12:22:41 AM
A video game company? I thought this was another cunning ploy by the police to seize the DC sniper after their previous phone trace plan had failed!

2002-10-23 12:24:04 AM
my friends son is a sniper in the Marine Force Recon division... there are some good snipers :)

And i think people need to grow up, and worry about other things

2002-10-23 12:26:22 AM
As an Oregonian, I say they better not take it down.

2002-10-23 12:27:16 AM
It's funny, because there were a few concerned gamers that thought sniper weapons would have to be removed from upcoming games in order to appease the overly sensitive people of the world.
And then there were a few concerned SWAT and millitary personnel that were afraid that they would be reassigned or fired in order to appease the overly sensitive people of the world.
And then there were a few concerned writers that were afraid that the word sniper would be removed from the english language in order to appease the overly sensitive people of the world, and they would have to resort to the comparatively clumsier 'guy with gun that shoots from far away.'

Please mind the redundancy.

It's just a word, it can't hurt you, so don't worry about it. AWP wh0re.

2002-10-23 12:27:24 AM
I love how the media keeps saying yada, yada...sniper rifle... Folks, the gun he/she is using is just a rifle with a scope. You can call it a sniper rifle when I see it in SOCOM: Navy SEALs.

2002-10-23 12:28:10 AM
oh who cares, we don't even have to get out of our cars to get gas. Bring it on.

some people are so sensative. I think the sign is amusing. I might check out the business tommorrow (lots of time on my hands) just for the hell of it.

It'd be a lot easier if the PC crowd would lay off. Most of them are biatching about things that might offend other people. Let them speak up if they don't like it. At least don't bring it to national attention where people who might give a flying fark at a rolling doughnut aboot it could see.

2002-10-23 12:31:35 AM
Asshats! Nobody is guaranteed the right to live life without being offended. NOBODY, so what, we all know snipers suck, especially those AWP WHORES! Besides, the colt rules..

2002-10-23 12:31:38 AM
Actually, a more intelligent comment from me would be:

His rifle being a sniper rifle is akin to saying that my M16A2 is a sniper rifle. Sure, I can hide and in essence, snipe someone, but for true distance shooting, I would much rather get a real sniper rifle (probably the big cal .50 one).

2002-10-23 12:31:44 AM
You know, this sounds a lot like the asshats that were all riled up about a Middle Eastern resturant right after 9-11. The resturant's name? "Osama's Place" or "Osama's House," or something along those lines. Of course, it had been the name of the resturant for many, many years.

Of course, I think this is usually the result of people with too much time, and not enough sense.

Just remember, it takes two brain cells to form a synapse.

2002-10-23 12:33:38 AM
I would look at the at the sign, but gresham is not a close enough drive just for that.

2002-10-23 12:33:56 AM
neighboring businesses said they wish the sign would come down, at least while the DC sniper is still on the loose.

what? are they worried the asshat will take it as an invitation? If he keeps on like he has been, he'll stay as far from the place as he can get.

2002-10-23 12:33:57 AM
Cool, now I know of a good place to game. Thx

2002-10-23 12:36:36 AM
Gresham business under fire for sniper sign

2002-10-23 12:37:28 AM
I really want that t-shirt.

2002-10-23 12:38:37 AM
The big question is:

Before or After?

If the signs been out for awhile, screw everyone who "got religion" (pardon the phrase).

If it's new, screw the owners.

But just FYI, the store's name is 'Swat Team Gaming'. I'm pretty sure the sign's been around awhile...

2002-10-23 12:39:21 AM
Optimus_prime, I thought that the gun attached to your arm in that cartoon was some kind of a laser cannon like the kind I would attach to a shark.....That was an M16?

2002-10-23 12:39:44 AM
"That's not a very good sign to have at a time like this," said area resident Lewie Saucerman. "

The sign should say- "Counter Snipers Welcome".

2002-10-23 12:40:57 AM
Farked?

2002-10-23 12:43:49 AM
heh - Lewie Saucerman

2002-10-23 12:44:54 AM
I suspect that about 5 people, oversensitive gits all, have complained. Probably bored middle-class drones. Most others near this store probably are going about their own lives, with problems far more pressing than whether there's a "snipers welcome" sign up, or for that matter one which says "I love Osama, he and I molest children together".

2002-10-23 12:49:19 AM
Doesn't surprise me. The NW gets WAAAAAYY too PC for me.

IT'S BEEN UP FOR MONTHS. He should put a "Whiners Unwelcome" sign up next to it.

2002-10-23 12:50:40 AM
If the sign gets taken down the sniper(s) have already won.

2002-10-23 12:51:52 AM
Snipers kick ass.

That moron in DC, of course, does not.

2002-10-23 12:57:59 AM
Free publicity. What more could the guy ask for.

2002-10-23 01:02:06 AM
...cause after all, America was started by a bunch of people that didn't want to offend anybody. Right? Can I get a fellow American Indian to back me up on this?

Besides, if we take the sign down we may alienate the sniper and hurt his "inner child."

2002-10-23 01:02:43 AM
i could be wrong, but shouldn't this be ironic tagged?

2002-10-23 01:03:59 AM
Carlos Hathcock - Now, he was a sniper's sniper.

2002-10-23 01:08:43 AM
If this sniper business effects the content or release of GTA: Vice City, I'll...

erm... cry and whine. Dammit. I wish people had more sense, and thicker skins.

2002-10-23 01:08:49 AM
So I hear that Websters dictionary is going to remove the word "sniper" after recieving complaints from a number of people...

2002-10-23 01:20:23 AM
Is this a good Fark post?

I recorded a song about snipers w/ my friend tonight. It's for a "Christmas" album I'm putting together.

It's called "Santa's Gonna Get Sniped".

I'm hosting it up on www.ultimatecoverband.com.

2002-10-23 01:27:20 AM
Good Lord.

How stupid. First we get a handful of idiot Al Qaeda wannabes shooting off guns in quarrys rounded up, then someone says "Hey, I know how to get on the news!"

I miss the South.

Dammit.

2002-10-23 01:28:57 AM
No Such angency: that comment is probably one of the most brilliant things i have ever heard. that and i cant spell worth ass. but that sure put a smile on my face, thank you

2002-10-23 01:31:26 AM
I miss the South.

Dammit.

Want me to send you an RC Cola and a Moon Pie?

2002-10-23 01:32:27 AM
Oh, and for those of you who find it farked.
It's not long. But it sure is stupid. This shouldn't even be a story.

Gresham business under fire for sniper sign

GRESHAM - A Gresham store is under fire for a sign hanging in its window that says "Snipers Welcome."

The sign hangs outside a computer gaming company called 'Swat Team Gaming'. People who work in the area tell us the sign has been up for months, but some are complaining.

While the sign advertises a game, some say it's inappropriate to leave it up since the sniper shootings in the Washington DC area.

"That's not a very good sign to have at a time like this," said area resident Lewie Saucerman. "Snipers welcome. When they're trying to find the guy that picked off ten, fifteen people with a sniper rifle, you'd think they'd have a little better taste to take down a sign like that, at least while they're trying to find him."

Another resident, Ed Rednour, told KATU News that he thinks people are too worried about the sign.

KATU News was unable to contact the business' owner, but people in some of the neighboring businesses said they wish the sign would come down, at least while the DC sniper is still on the loose.

I miss the South.

Dammit.

not me I'll take the NW any day (and yes I have actually live in the south, both east and west)

but still this is pretty idiotic.

2002-10-23 01:34:13 AM
Young_Fart I would settle for a chik-fil-a chicken salad sandwich (on wheat) and a Chocadile(or Nabs).
I'm willing to pay bucks here!

2002-10-23 01:37:34 AM
This whole political correctness thing has gone way overboard. Remember when Micro$oft's flight sim was pulled after 9/11 to remove the WTC towers? Does that mean that Battlefield 1942 is gonna get pulled so they can take the sniper rifle out? Wouldn't want to offend anyone or stir emotional memories...blah, blah, blah...

2002-10-23 01:37:46 AM
and why did sweater girl just quote the entire site?
