They probably started the fire in order to make themselves look better.

/Hope that helps kick-start the thread.

This dramatic video dramatically doesn't play on my browser, no matter how often I download new flash drivers or pray to Papa Legba, opener-of-ways.

This isn't a troll at all, but a comment on fire spreading.

Obviously it was necessary to break the window/open a door to get the guy out, but isn't THAT the reason why the car suddenly became fully engulfed? I had some neighbors up the street that had a fire in their home, and they, panicking, got everyone in the bedroom (it was a one story home) and closed the door. Seems like a bad idea, yeah? But when the fire fighters got there and pulled them out/got the fire under control, the bedroom wasn't even touched by fire, but the rest of the house was.

The fire fighter's explanation was that because the door was closed, there wasn't enough air flow for the fire to spread quickly. And it makes sense. Haven't you ever opened a window in the house and then a door? You can feel the airflow.

So essentially these guys set off a time bomb the minute they broke the window, as air started flowing and the smoke (which was holding back the flames too) started coming out. Not bad of them at all, they had to (and they saved a life), but just food for thought.

Amen. I've been lucky to have known a lot of good cops. They are not all jerks and sometimes, put their lives on the line for you and me.

Ames PD in general is a good force. They are cool about breaking up parties (except for that whole riot) and generally aren't assholes.

I've met hundreds of cops in my line of work.....two of them I'd call "good" people.

Trinilos:

I thought about that too and youre right, it is dumb to feed a fire more air. I give this guy a pass tho because he was trying to help and he only had 62 seconds.

Obvious fake. Cops killed a guy and then cops cohorts set fire to the car and call cops in to save the day and spread good cop propaganda across North America.

/Or, it was real and two honest cops that "work" for their money.

I don't get it, in Grand Theft Auto the car blows up after a few seconds being aflame.

Absolutely correct Trinilos. However, since this is a car fire, the effect was probably negligible in the context of getting anyone inside to safety as fast as possible. It's much easier to pull someone out of a car then out of a house.

Sounds like the cops would have been more helpful if they'd resprayed the car for him.

Of course, then they wouldn't have been able to see him afterwards. Hmm.

I thought it was kinda funny that the first cop smashed the window out and then when the second cop showed up he just opened the door with the handle. I guess the first cop just assumes car doors are always locked so he goes right for the window smash.

no, i read on the internet that all cops are fascists who only want to rape and rob us, so i'm stickin with that...
