not likely. they pass on good beers and recommend crap like mich ultra.

if you're worried about your weight, don't drink beer. if you drink light beer because it saves you 30 or 40 calories, you're drinking too much beer. drink regular beer, but just one or two fewer--that way you can drink good beer and cut calories

2008-01-16 12:09:22 PM
The only halfway-decent beer they recommend as a "Pick" is Guinness Draught. Blah

That's one of the best in the world and a "light" beer too.

Okay, so avoid good beer and drink whatever tastes like cat piss.

Got it!

oh really? light beers have fewer calories?

give these people a farking nobel prize.

Or, one can not drink beer at all.

I don't want to drink any of their "picks". Including the Guinness Draught. Guinness Extra Stout, however (a pass) is good stuff.

How about not drinking beer if you're so concerned about calories? (Dry) wine or hard liquor mixed with water or soda are good options.

Wine is even worse, too much sugar that the body has a tough time breaking down. Or so my doc says.

Clear hard liquor like vodka is probably the best weight-watchers way to booze it up.

Vodak + club soda.

diet? excersize?

You'd have to jog about 10 miles to burn off a 6 pack of Sierra Nevada.

2008-01-16 01:55:24 PM
Or just drink in moderation and exercise, and drink good beer.

2008-01-16 01:56:23 PM
So beers with flavor have more calories. Who would have thought?

2008-01-16 01:57:02 PM
Even light, low calorie beer is bad for your beer gut. Alcohol messes up your metabolism and whatnot.

2008-01-16 01:57:09 PM
I think that I'll take my chances, and not drink the beer that tastes like piss in my pantses.

I am a total sucker for Blue Moon and SweetWater 420 these days, despite how good or bad they may be for me.

I am a real drunk, but I try to stay in shape, heavy weightlifter. I try to keep carbs as low as I can, so I drink Miller Light. Oddly, I think it is a pretty good tasting beer.

I like good old yellow domestic beer. I grew up on it, and love it. I don't like fancy dark stuff, and I would go broke drinking the quantity I do now. Nothing says good times like a fat steak and 20-30 beers and beer pong and bloodhead. Woot.

Drinking a light beer with fried chicken wings and nachos will still give you a 'beer' gut.

Also, and I'm not sure how true this is, but I heard alcohol increases the amount of fat that goes straight to your gut rather than letting it get spread around your whole body.

Yummy Guinness is one of the liteist (but I already knew that).

I was expecting pictures of beer guts, oh well.

If you want to drink beer and cut calories, then stop eating food. As Jim Coch (owner of Samuel Adams) says: "There's food in the beer, but no beer in the food."

Bock beer was created by monks for periods of fasting. This way, they were still able to get nutrients without eating actual food.

Thanks for the advice Oh Great Knower Of All Things- I think I will stick with drinking light beer. Light beer has fewer calories and tastes great ice-cold. Being that I am not a beer snob, and can appreciate light beer for its own merit, the fewer "regular" beers I drink the fewer calories I will consume. Do I like good beers too? Sure. I also like a giant t-bone steak with a baked potato, but usually I settle for a grilled piece of chicken and some steamed vegetables and a little rice. But you go ahead and enjoy what you enjoy. I will do the same.
