Well... I seriously hope this guy just sealed his death warrant. Regardless of where or what that phone # is, he WILL be found if he's anywhere near it. Frankly, I'm starting to think that this is just another red herring.

He / She probably staked out a payphone for him to place a call to police AT - or, alternatively, maybe he left them a nice pre-paid cel phone sitting there in the grass - This guy / girl is really good at farking with the police.

Sure, because he'd give them a phone number without taking simple precautions to ensure he can't be traced, or at least make the location the phone is in difficult to get to at short notice. Sure.

this is off topic sorta; well i was pushing carts today at work(grocery store) and this really farking hot freshman i know comes up to me and shes like "do you have a cell phone" and i was like "yeah" "ok, give me your number tomarrow" now what the fark is that all about.

Sounds like the sniper left the investigators one of their numbers. Or a private police number that no one should know. Or perhaps he wants them to activate a phone in that number. Or probably a payphone in the area that he will call out of their jurisdiction from. It's not the obvious stupid ideas that are floating around.

If anyone actually thinks that this phone HASN'T already been located, please stop being a typical sheep and wake up to reality. Even if it's a cellular, I'd bet $100 that the cops have already contacted the company and have triangulation set up on it.

thats how thinks work in alaska, its always cell phone, im not sure whats up, whenever i see her in the store she always demands a hug and shiat.

he obviously wants to get caught, he's just stringing them along for a while. There needs to be a name to go down in history, If he wanted to he could simply dissappear with out a trace, and the cops would never find him.

umm... ok... I'm not really sure how in the hell I "don't have a clue what I'm talking about" seeing as how triangulation is simply the predecessor to the A-GPS systems that the FCC is mandating for "emergency purposes"

Triangulation won't work unless (a) the phone is turned on, and (b) it's a cell phone.

Now, unless this guy is terminally retarded (and give he's killed all these people and injured a couple too, that's probably unlikely) he'll be smart enough to take some very basic precautions to avoid being traced. It's not hard, it just takes a few minutes of forethought. What, did you think he was going to kill a bunch of people and then just sit back and wait for the cops to come get him, perhaps giving them a few direct farking pointers to lead them to him?
