I hope the Super Bowl is Chargers vs. Giants. That way, Eli can get his ass beat by the team he didn't want to play for.

Oh, those tasty, delicious tears.

• Doozy of a doubleheader of defeat Sunday for the Manning clan. Peyton's Colts go down at home against the Chargers, and Eli's Giants can't quite pull the upset at Dallas.

We not only lost any shot at a Manning versus Manning Super Bowl, but that Eli versus Philip Rivers Super Bowl showdown is off the board, too.

"A timeout coincided with the Dallas Cowboys' final drive in their 21-17 loss to the New York Giants, so the MSG staff played the football game on the overhead scoreboard -- with some fans even chanting "DEFENSE!" while watching.

Play resumed with Dallas facing fourth down, but the staff opted to keep showing the football game, even as Knicks center Eddy Curry was shooting free throws. With Nate Robinson motioning for the crowd to quiet down, Curry missed both shots -- though few fans seemed to care because they were too busy watching the Cowboys' drive, which ended with Giants cornerback R.W. McQuarters intercepting a pass in the end zone."

Knicks can't even get attention from their own paying fans, that's pretty bad

Sounds a lot like a Giants Monday night game during the 1986 season. It was played against Washington on the same night as Game 7 of the Mets/Red Sox World Series.

Throughout the Giants game, random cheers went up from people in the crowd listening to the baseball game on radios.

Sounds like the most cheers heard in MSG in a long time. Hell, they earned it. NYG's a good team. Not like the Cowboys got "Golden State'd" today. Hopefully we'll at least get to see an old-school slugfest in Green Bay next week.

No, a couple of years ago he was accused of writing an article as if he was there (and he wasn't) and had some "quotes" from athletes at the game that said they were going to be at an event the next day, but didn't show. It was a sorted tale at the Detroit Free Press for awhile.

Great game, but as a Giants fan, Eli's been good.

The most satisfying moment is seeing Jerry Jones on the sideline at the end, thinking that they are going pull it out, but coming up a bit short...

Ever since the epic Week 17 Pats-Giants showdown, I've been rooting like crazy for the Giants. The G-men had no reason to show up but took the Pats down to the wire. I've picked up a ton of respect for the team...maybe in a couple of years New England will get the credit for teaching Eli how to be a good quarterback ;)

That said, sorry Giants - it ends here. A Pats v. Pack Super Bowl would just be too good to pass up.

/Pats win: perfect season, become a legend

This season has already surpassed any realistic hopes I could have had for the Giants. Today's game was the most excited I've been in 8 years, and the best win they've had in that same amount of time.

Obviously I hope the Giants continue their ride all the way to the Super Bowl and a chance to knock off the Pats (or Chargers ... I guess) but if it ends in Green Bay, it's been a great season and shows that things look okay for the future.

I like how the three weeks of sports talk that went on late into the season on who is going to have homefield (GB or Dallas) is totally irreleveant now.

My prediction about halfway through the season was a Packers vs. Patriots Superbowl.

And my response to "You don't think the Cowboys will get it?" was that I thought they'd get to the second or third round of playoffs, then totally botch the game for themselves. Not by one single goof up like last year, but by overall shiatty play.

I may be a prophet.

2008-01-14 12:32:48 AM
Had to be said, has to be +1ed

The benefit - Peyton will definitely go to watch his little brother play in the playoffs. Hell, he might even get to be on the field. What will this lead to?

TDUsGamer: However, to go back to that. Romo's an idiot.

Whether or not Mexico and a blonde airhead are a distraction or not, it still casts you and your team in a bad light, one way or another.

QFTW (Quoted from the wife)

"He should be focused, and he's not. You can't do that to your team, because it puts pressure on all of them. And how long do you think their relationship will last after this? Because I'm sure they're in it out of love."
Well put, wifey.

Don't worry, now that the Cowboys won't be going to the Super Bowl, she will ease out of the "relationship. If ever there was a person who tries to hitch their wagon to a star and ride their coat tails to success it is her!!! Yea, she has her "records LOL" and her money but she has no respectable stardom. Fameseeking attention whore is all she is. She will move along to someone else who she thinks can advance her career further.

One of the talking heads on the pregame shows made the comparison between Tony and Jessica in Cabo and Tom and Giselle having dinner in New York. (As in you didn't hear much about T&G) He said "I guess it was which girl's publicist called the media first. That is who got the coverage."

2008-01-14 02:49:41 AM
This weekend threw my mind off completely. My favorite team is the Eagles, my second favorite team is the Vikings (I live in Minnesota, I have to. I grew up with them) Forever the Giants have been a thorn in the side of my favorite teams. The Giants are my least favorite team in the NFL, have been for a while.

That being said, the Packers are my third favorite team in the NFL, and the team that I have the most respect for. (Used to not like them, went to Lambeu and visited their hall of fame and museum. If you consider yourself and NFL fan, you must go and see it) So when the playoff picture started I decided I was gonna root for the Packers. Which meant that today I had to cheer for the Giants to win because it would be better for the pack. Packers... you better win next week.

Also, go Chargers.
