etymxrisMcCain may seem like a maverick at times but there's a reason he's in the Republican party.....Er...'cause he is a closet gay??

2008-01-08 09:29:00 PM
You know, I might have actually voted for McCain 8 yrs ago. But with the last 8 years of republican judicial appointments, I think it's time for a change just to keep the federal judiciary somewhere close to the political center on average.

I really don't care who the Dems nominate, that's the way I'm voting in '08 no matter what. Besides, I'm not sure if I prefer Obama's youth and maybe idealism over Hillary's ruthless and most probably effective political hackfullness. Edwards would make a better HHS secretary than VP though. Hope they don't pick him for VP again.

GoldSpider: JudeMorrigan: That he does, assuming you like tall redheads. And not liking tall redheads is just ... unfarkish.

It's an illusion. Most of her "appeal" (I have a hard time even suggesting it) comes from her proximity to someone dwarfishly ugly.

Yeah, because you're farking someone so much hotter than the sharp kneed harpy. Of course, I forgot, this is Fark!

SweetDickens: Did not Ron Paul not vote for the Iraq Massacre???

Nope, he didn't actually.

HowlingFrog:
Don't forget that Ron Paul has garnered more support from military members and military families than any other candidate.

Well, more financial support. It was something just north of $40k in the 3rd quarter. I wouldn't doubt if it was 80k in the 4th quarter.

I wouldn't confuse that with overwhelming support from currently active military members though. Folks don't really care much about politics while they're young, and let's face it, if you're 30 and active duty in the military you're an old man. I'd wager most of the financial support Paul is seeing comes from "lifers" in the military, perhaps still in, but a fair number are retired.

See, here's my question, and I'm being totally serious:

If elected to two terms, won't John McCain be 102 when he leaves office?

Or else, what? He will unleash the hounds?

Who the hell are these people who actually like Hillary Clinton and vote for her?

I live in a very liberal part of the country and I only know two people who support Clinton: a gay guy who thinks she dresses well and an Asian girl from my class who posts at least 2-3 articles about the "glass ceiling" on facebook every day. Everybody else is for Obama and far less annoying about it.

Please, God, please, just let her lose already so I don't have to listen to her hypocrite supporters accusing everyone of sexism anymore.

I happen to think so.

It's not like their vote counts for any more than mine will.

Doesn't McCain win every time in the New Hampshire primary?

Notice the pasty olde people in NH don't like the brother? It will only get worse when they go to SC and all the dems are old people that vote dem because its FDR's party and they think he can walk on water. I don't think the 80 year olds in SC are gonna vote for the black guy...

Still entirely too early to call, plus none of us here have any idea how honest this or any other polling station in this election will be.

Paper ballots for the 2008 election

This Sunday's cover story in The New York Times Magazine makes plain the threat: The winner of the 2008 presidential election could be decided by flawed, insecure, and hackable electronic voting machines.

Ron Paul.

That being said, I'd vote for McCain if he wins the nod. Despite the diligence of the nitpickers in digging up his seemingly contradictory statements. (monday: "I don't feel like turkey tonight." thursday: "I'll have the dark meat, please") I find him to be the most honest and least pandering of the non-paul candidates.

just_dis_guy: Greywar: When mccain stopped protesting bush's torture practices he lost all respect from me.

There's another reason not to vote for that bastard.

I think I hate him so much because he showed real promise and let us all down.

sure. how about:

or

Link (new window)

thats from a brief google search. Yeah he claims he is anti-torture, but when push came to shove he caved.

I was expecting Paul to take 3rd on this one, with the mid to high teens.

Ah well, so much for optimism. I figured that between the "Live free or Die" mindset and the Free State Project presence in NH, this would have been Paul's best state.

At the very least, I hope to see Paul overtake 9iu11ani by the time all the voting is done.

2008-01-08 09:47:35 PM
mccain? seriously?
didn't he get ruined twice by Stewart?

2008-01-08 09:47:44 PM
GoldSpider: And Paul isn't doing the same on the R side?

He is. Good for him. I'm glad there are Republicans who understand that the Iraq War was doomed from the start, and deficit spending like crazy isn't equal to fiscal responsibility.

Unfortunately, his support base seems to have attracted some of the same nuts that flocked to Nader and Buchanan in 2000, and Perot before that. They're all annoying and full of themselves and dismissive of any criticism.

Subby should mention that the 'Paulites' encompass the majority of the people, ask around! Your country has been stolen again Americans.

If this is true, where are the signs, where have the votes been?

It seems to me that Paulistinians are the political equivalent of evangelicals - they seem to think that if you proclaim His name enough ("Ron Paul! Ron Paul!") people will come to Him. The problem is, there are many of us who have read His platforms and His writings, we still reject Him. I'd vote for Obama before Paul, and Obama wants to gut NASA. I'd even vote for Hillary first.

It is not Ron Paul's people which alienate me, it is not the various weird writings that may or may not have been ghostwritten for him, it is Dr. Paul's policy statements that repel and disgust me.

As I reject Satan and all his works, so too with Ron Paul

So I'm wathcing Fox Business Channel tonight and they're talking about Obama and how he keeps talking about change. Then they switch to a "You know who else wanted change" story about Jimmy Carter. Then they immediately follow this up with a story about how a change in fiscal policy can be a bad thing.

Incorrigible.
