Torture difficulties.

GoldSpider I imagine there are an awful lot of Kucinich supporters here who are strangely silent about their candidate's performance.

Thank cripes they aren't jawin like the Paularoids.

Actually, I respect Kucinich's role in this while not supporting him. He is putting certain things that should be debated into play that otherwise wouldn't be. And really, if he were simply taller and not elfin-lookin, he would be taken much more seriously.

Plus, totally hot wife. Gotta respect that.

If McCain wins the Presidency...

I'll still be glad Bush is gone.

Bacontastesgood: He is putting certain things that should be debated into play that otherwise wouldn't be.

And Paul isn't doing the same on the R side?

Plus, totally hot wife. Gotta respect that.

DO NOT WANT!!

Found More from 2000:

"This race is shakier than cafeteria Jell-O."

"Turn the lights down, the party just got wilder."

"It's cardiac-arrest time in this presidential campaign."

"He swept through the South like a tornado through a trailer park."

"Don't bet the trailer money yet."

"It's too early to say he has the whip hand."

"Now Florida, that race, the heat from it is hot enough to peel house paint."

"It's a ding dong battle back and forth."

"If he doesn't carry Florida Slim will have left town."

"If a frog had side pockets, he'd carry a hand gun."

"They both have champagne on ice, but after the night is over, they might need a pick axe to open them."

"This race is tight like a too-small bathing suit on a too-long ride home from the beach."

"It's about as complicated as a wiring diagram to some dynamo."

"Only votes talk - everything else walks."

"This will show you how tight it is - it's spandex tight."

"We're going to go to some of those longnecks from a long time ago."

"He's going to find that people will hang on him like a coat rack."

"This election swings like one of those pendulum things."

"This race is as tight as the rusted lug nuts on a '55 Ford."

"What we know is that there will be no decision until some of those races are decided."

"You talk about a ding-dong, knock-down, get-up race."

"When it comes to a race like this, I'm a long distance runner and an all-day hunter."

"It's the American way: if you don't vote, you don't get to whine."

Dammit I hate this. Only one third of all the precincts have reported in. To even "project" a winner is incredibly stupid. It has bit the media in the ass so many frigin times it's stupid.

It's like projecting a successful Space Shuttle launch. Yes you can do it, but it's kinda stupid to do so. Just say that "X candidate" is leading and be done with it. Then when you have 100% just say who the winner is.

2008-01-08 09:18:14 PM
oren0: Ron Paul lost any credibility he had left in my mind during the Saturday debates when he said that Al Qaeda wants to attack us because we have bases in their countries, and (basically) that if we leave them alone they'll leave us alone.

So I guess it really IS because "they hate our freedom", huh?
Come on, don't Giuliani yourself.

2008-01-08 09:18:18 PM
Bacontastesgood: DaGenius I can't tell if anyone in this thread actually means the positive stuff they say about Ron Paul.

They do. That's 5% of your fellow citizens. Be afraid.

Why? He appears to have conviction and integrity and is a true conservative rather than pandering to the religious right. It ain't much, but it's better than the other GOP choices, who are universally unappealing. If we could have "5-years-ago John McCain" I would have said the same thing about him, but apparently the desire to become President can overcome that "conviction and integrity" thing.

Even if I don't agree with everything someone says, I'll take integrity over mouthing the right words any day.

mister aj: Actually, we might get rioting. That would suck. Because men with guns would have to break it up.

Seeing as how the riot would most likely occur in World of Warcraft, boys with wizard staffs would probably break it up.

When mccain stopped protesting bush's torture practices he lost all respect from me.

Imagine Clinton winning, appointing Cheney as her vice president, and then putting her hubby onto the supreme court.

Heres a scary thing though. Remember Cheney? think on this-one of his duties is to preside over and certify the official vote count of the U.S. Electoral College.....

This is the man who shot an attorney in the back, and then had him apologize about it being made a big deal later.

Think about it. He shot an attorney, and made the attorney apologize for it. Thats some real freaking mind powers!

I'll vote for Kucinich in the California primary if Edwards is out of play at that point.

That said, when you already look like a Keebler elf it doesn't help to have the endorsement of the Creatures of the Forest. (new window)

His wife, on the other hand, is more like a Tolkien elf. I'd vote for it like the fist of an angry god.

John McCain seems to be annoyed by his supporters at the rally.

There's another reason not to vote for that bastard.

I think I hate him so much because he showed real promise and let us all down.

Yeah, judging by the primaries all 10 of them.

Don't forget that Ron Paul has garnered more support from military members and military families than any other candidate.

pmccall: Seems like a lot of New-Hampshirites voted for the old John McCain who campaigned there in 2000.

McCain's support included those dissatisfied with the Bush Administration; those who think the next President should be less conservative; and those who disapprove of the war in Iraq. WTF?.

(Full Exit Poll Here)

This just makes me sad. So many uninformed voters...

2008-01-08 09:24:37 PM
GoldSpider: I imagine there are an awful lot of Kucinich supporters here who are strangely silent about their candidate's performance.

I like Kucinich but you'll notice that very few of his supporters are deluded about his chances like the Paulies. It's fun to look back at threads from just two weeks ago and see how many Paul supporters were predicting him surprising everyone with his wins. Remember, it was just that the media was out to get him but the people would be heard. Well, so far they're being heard and only a small number of them are saying they want Paul.

/Don't feel bad Paulies, tens of millions made their voices heard in 2000 and 2004 and it didn't necessarily lead to the best results

That's pretty much how I see them both though I am, if cornered, a Kucinich guy.

He's got, like, no charisma up there. He's reading a script, and acting crochety.

blessthe40oz: nekom: He's the guy Rupert Murdoch and all of the other illuminati are trying to hide from you sheeple, or at least that's my understanding.

yeah I never even heard of him.

I think he was that guy those people on Fark were talking about a while back.....never could figure out what the little deal was all about. Oh well. I can always check it out on Wikipedia if I get curious.

2008-01-08 09:26:37 PM
JudeMorrigan: That he does, assuming you like tall redheads. And not liking tall redheads is just ... unfarkish.

It's an illusion. Most of her "appeal" (I have a hard time even suggesting it) comes from her proximity to someone dwarfishly ugly.

2008-01-08 09:27:06 PM
Considering their other choices, I think people were voting for the McCain of old, not the current model. They are hoping for a display of born-again honesty.

redshoejess: He's got, like, no charisma up there. He's reading a script, and acting crochety.

Also, the MSNBC people are ragging on him for the lackluster performance..."it deflated his victory"

Yup. McCain may seem like a maverick at times but there's a reason he's in the Republican party.

I enjoyed Huckabee's speech a great deal, but just can't get behind him. He'd make a great cabinet member or something.
