DeltaPunch: I think I missed being the anti-Christ by one person, because my birthmark looks like the number 667.

I'm sure it started out as 666.6, but as you grew up it rounded out.

My mother was a chain smoker, so I was oxygen deprived until I was 18. Which explains why I flunked community college.

I had a purple birthmark on the back of my left knee. But when I was in middle school they lasered it off. Man that was painful. It was done with the same machine that they use to remove tattoos.

/will never, ever, ever get a tattoo

Wow. Lasers... Back in my day, they used a rusty kaiser blade (some folks call it a sling blade) to remove birthmarks...

My little guy has this.

im1.shutterfly.com

When he was a baby they had to put him on steroids to keep the tumor from growing and possibly blinding him. Unfortunately, it also kept him from growing taller. He kept gaining weight at the normal rate but was the height of a three month old. He looked fairly tubs. His belly was big and his limbs were short so he couldn't crawl.

This is what we were left with after the meds. He has had laser surgery and it is now even flatter than in this pic. Soon he's going under the knife to have it removed and to repair the damage to his face.

Knowing what caused it is one step closer to hopefully having a better treatment or preventing it altogether.

When you post personal information and photos about a loved one on FARK, you'd better have a thick skin. Lot of assholes in here, which usually make this place quite entertaining.

I have no snark for your comments, though. Best of luck to your little boy.

I guess my womb was like a plastic bag... I have 3, none are in risque places though. One on top of my foot, one on my stomach/hip area, and one on my ankle. They're not the giant freakish ones or anything, but what I lack in quality I make up in quantity I guess.

Has everyone forgotten you need a sample size of at least 30 from each group to be stat. significant?

I don't have one so does that mean I am Jesus? Or never born?

i also had a dark birthmark behind my left knee which was removed surgically because it was precancerous ( skin grafts for added enjoyment).

I have a spot that looks like a birthmark, but is actually from a burn when I was little.

/happy enough for people to assume it is a birthmark

Heidi Girl

If it was on the back of the knee, why did you have it removed?

Such a whimsical picture for a cemetery, beautiful though, wish there were more pictures :)

Mine is on my chin. It used to be a lot bigger but I had 2 lazer sessions when i was 16 and 18 but it only got about %35 of it. I don't care about it anymore. The kids at school reminded me about it often. Now, not so much.
There are different types of birth marks and the article only mentions one. Mine is a port wine stain.

The more you know.

I have freckles (which according to my bio professor is a genetic mutation.. as is my red hair).

Does that mean I'm the anti-christ or that my mother should have put the crack pipe down more often?

Just asking.

gbiewer: Has everyone forgotten you need a sample size of at least 30 from each group to be stat. significant?

This is basically a collection of anecdotes. Any time you see a sample size less than ~500, you can ignore the data. That's a general rule given out in Statistical Analysis.

Please, begin the pseudo-scientific bashing of my remarks.

I have a tear shaped birthmark on my right arm just above my wrist as well as one on my right temple.

I have so many spots and moles (sexy I know) I don't even know which ones were present at birth. I must've been extremely deprived.

2008-01-08 06:23:08 PM
Wow! All y'all have birthmarks from being less than 3.5 pounds at birth? AND you all post comments on Fark?

Where's Captain Obvious when you need him?

Penthesilea, you have a cute kid. Not just saying that either, just to make you feel better.

\ Has a six year old son blessed with good health.
\\ And the fact that he doesn't look like his dad.
