ummmmmmmm, pizza...... time to go heat up last nights leftovers..... sorry about the gun thing, dude, but I was hungry.

I delivered pizza for a few years, and while there are no replies for me to get a kick out of, if a house looks suspicious at all, you just hit the gas and don't step out of the car. Insufficient light, people hanging around, even a lot of graffiti nearby usually tip me off. I had a couple of fellow drivers get robbed, but I never got held up, and the managers never complained about a pizza not getting delivered because of safety concerns.

Good advice I'd say UNC_Samurai. I've never delivered, but if I did, I'd carry a handgun. Hell, I work from home and I sometimes carry one.

Suspect #3 is the mastermind....

This isn't an uncommon thing. Not sure if subby thought this was newsworthy or if it just entertained him.

Buddy of mine got robbed twice before he stopped delivering to downtown N.O.

Does anyone else think it hilarious that the suspects took the chicken wings and pizza too?

Three steps toward better pizza:

1) order a large papa johns pizza w/ olives
2) estimate the total number of olives on said pizza (sometimes less than two whole olives)
3) feel ripped off
4) order somewhere else

Papa John's (Moran writer of TFA didn't spell it correctly.) you're not allowed to carry weapons. Which basically means you can't tell your manager what you're packing.

I delivered and was a manager at a PJ's in Indianapolis, and MAN there were some scary neighborhoods. And you're right, UNC, none of the managers I ever worked with would get upset about that, provided you made an effort to contact the customer.

I used to get my pizzas delivered by a guy who carried a gun in a shoulder holster where everybody could see it. I was always worried whether I was tipping him enough.

I finally hit up a Papa John's last week after seeing ads for years. Better pizza/ingredients - What a crock of horseshiat!!! - its barely a step above Domino's, which I won't even eat if someone offers me some.
Blue Jeans = best pizza in worcester

Is there any good pizza in southern California? Honestly, the best chain around here has been Round Table. Anybody know of a family run business with good pizza that's north of LA?

Dude, having worked for PJs, I can tell you that what you need to do is this:

1. Talk to the manager on duty. About 85-90% of all problems can be taken care of right then and there.

2. If that doesn't work, ask for the Director of Operations. (I worked at a corporate store...franchises might call it something different. Basically, it's the manager in charge of the area's stores.) You'll probably get a little more (Two free pizzas instead of one.), and it'll cause the store in question to be looked into.

3. If you're still not happy, go to the company website.

Please, for fark's sake, don't go over someone's head. If you don't tell them about a problem, they can't know to fix it. I can tell you, there should be toppings in every bite of the pizza. So, yeah, sounds like you got screwed.

Seeing how the bad guys tend to kill the pizza guy victims around here, I fail to see how this is news.

/Really.

Stopped ordering delivery from anywhere recently. Pizza stone, some dough, sauce, peppers, onions, chicken, 10 minutes in the oven. Mmmmm.

Oh...I guess I wasn't clear. When I say there's nothing good north of LA, I wasn't just referring to pizza.

Why is this news? I got robbed delivering when I was a kid and worked for LaRoza's. Where's my headline?

"Man mugged on pizza delivery; can't spell own name right"

I came for the Hiro Protagonist / Deliverator references. Pleasantly surprised to see real delivery people with stories. My brother in law delivered for a few months...eugh.

I delivered pizza when I was in school. One night I got to feel the barrel of a gun pressed against my cheek.

Good times.

dang.

One day, while leaving Denny's (poor college kid), some bundled up guy walks up to my husband and I and starts positioning himself between us the vehicle. The guy notices me peering into the backseat (trying to find something hard - the one time my car was actually clean) and backs off w/ some story about needing a towing company's phone number.

I've made it a point to have several hard objects (pointy, too) in the car since.

Pizza delivery guys were gettin robbed alot in Akron not too long ago. Thankfully the scrubs were nailed by the PD. I'm waiting for some of these street demons to start gettin popped by pissed-off delivery drivers. I have a CCW and I give a shiat about corporate policy... If I was a delivery driver, I'd sure as hell would be packin'. I'd rather be alive and unemployed VS play by some corporate slug's rules and get my ass put in a metal box.

There used to be a place called Fat Duck pizza between the Bay Area and Sackoftomatoes. Pizza was good and inexpensive.

If you travel up to Sac, there's a place called Rico's Pizza. Outstanding pizza.

All that said, however, it's been more than a decade. Both places might be closed by now.
