2008-01-02 06:47:12 PM

+1. Feel terrible about it, but would laugh again.

Ok, so all he needs to cough up is a leg and he can fill his gas tank.

Those of us in Austin, which is probably 80% of the Texas Fark readership, hereby demand a TEXAS tag to match the FLORIDA one, so we can make fun of the rednecks that surround us.

2008-01-02 07:21:02 PM
got to hand it to him, he's tough.

2008-01-02 07:21:19 PM
Give him a hand!

2008-01-02 07:21:54 PM
Dammit!

2008-01-02 07:22:13 PM
Get a grip man. I'm sure the long arm of our judicial system will fix him up.

2008-01-02 07:22:30 PM
Guess he will be dissatisfied with the one-handed typing.

2008-01-02 07:23:31 PM
dcrooke: those of us in Austin,

I love 6th street, but El Paso Farkers are here as well.

It's not clear whether he self-amputated his arm at the elbow to free himself, or if the machinery cut off his arm.
from here (which also has a recording of the 911 call)

The 52-year-old man went to warm up some equipment at Alamo Concrete at about 4:30 a.m. when he got his sleeve caught.

Aren't you supposed to be careful of your clothing when around machinery that can do this? Kind of like don't lean over a wood chipper while wearing a neck tie.

Hear! Hear! I especially like the stories that come out of Houston.

I got the impression from the Austin tv news just now that his arm was kinda hanging by a thread and he just finished the job.

doesn't mean he's not hardcore

2008-01-02 07:29:50 PM
Arm all choked up about this

Me too. He sure could have used somebody to lend him a hand. :)

I was a lil disppointed when I read the story. When I saw the headline, for some reason I thought the guy was one of those freaks that feel the need to cut off their own limbs to finally feel "whole".

Hasn't Manor basically been surrounded by Austin by now? Which makes them... one of us!!!

my first choice was way the hell to long: When I saw the headline, for some reason I thought the guy was one of those freaks that feel the need to cut off their own limbs to finally feel "whole".

You've been watching 2girls and BME Pain Olympics too much.

I'm shocked at the number of these making headlines. Rocks to farmers and now concrete, shouldn't the media raise the bar for 15 minute hacks?

Bail's been set at an arm and a leg.

This man says, "welcome to the club!"

2008-01-02 07:34:29 PM
This man wanted for questioning

2008-01-02 07:35:06 PM
Was he, by any chance, a handyman?

2008-01-02 07:35:28 PM
Bail? I meant his hospital bill...

2008-01-02 07:35:34 PM
It costs a lot to get out of an ARM.

2008-01-02 07:35:36 PM
Sorry. It didn't post the pic for some reason

2008-01-02 07:37:01 PM
Does this count as part of the ARM problem?

Actually, I've never seen either of those. I just have a sick twisted mind.

Dear lord please let this be my ex's new husband....

/They live in Manor

2008-01-02 07:38:11 PM
He was very disarming.

2008-01-02 07:38:56 PM
He'll never elbow his way around again.

Then you don't know what you're missing!

2008-01-02 07:41:43 PM
Now he'll have to shoulder his burdens.

2008-01-02 07:41:49 PM
This man kept an amazing amount of bearing about him for what would normally put anyone into complete shock. Best wishes for him.

2008-01-02 07:42:16 PM
That's pretty badass.

2008-01-02 07:43:48 PM
Austinite here too -- also waving one hand, voting for a Texas flag.

2008-01-02 07:45:14 PM
Holy crap.. that recording is a mess...

Reminds me of a commercial pilot who lost control of his airplane in cloud.. on the recording of the radio calls you could hear him hyperventilating - really puts you in his shoes..

\damn I should have worked an arm pun in there.. I suck

2008-01-02 07:46:00 PM
Manor is the only city around austin with a horse racing track.
