That's messed up. A person could seriously hurt themselves shooting a weapon that powerful without experience. That girl was lucky.

That reminds me of the first - and last - time I fired a .44 Magnum. Or maybe it was a .357 Magnum. Whatever the case, it left a lasting impression on my scalp ;)

I've fired a gun like that, but with the gun's owner thoroughly coaching me about how to deal with the kickback.

I preferred firing the AR-15, so that Hello Kitty gun I saw last night really had me going.

Me too.

Fourth Amendment:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

When I was about 5, my dad and I were shooting .38 rounds through his .38/.357mag Super Blackhawk, and he accidentally loaded a .357 Mag round for me. Yeah. Hammer impression in the forehead for the rest of the day. It's pretty funny now. Scared the sh*t out of me then.

The crazy thing is I'm about to go take a 5'2, 115lbs girl out shooting today for the first time, in about an hour (and am getting quite the kick out of these replies).
I am seriously going to show her this video before we go. Wow, that gun owner is a complete asshole. At least the off-camera voice kept her from biting her tongue off.

No hearing protection. Wal-mart sun glasses may not suffice as eye protection. Really shouldnt be wearing a bikin top. Totally unstable stance for her size vs weapon power. She could easily handle that weapon with proper instruction regardless of her size and gender. The whole video is wrong and scary.

except allowing a 5 year old to fire a pistol is extremely negligent, children that age should only be firing rifles because there is no way they can fire one shot and then have the barrel pointing at the underside of their chin while they accidentally squeeze off a second round.

Its a freaking 5 year old shooting a gun. How can you not see something wrong with that. If you want to teach a kid how to shoot a gun when he is older that is fine, but there is a big difference between showing your 10 or 12 year old son how to shoot a gun and showing your 5 year old. And as far as gun control goes I thankfully live in a country where handguns are illegal, but I've been hunting with my Father since I was 11 or 12, and did shoot his shotgun when I was that age, which was an appropriate age for him to introduce me to firearms. Giving a gun to a 5 year old is retarded, regardless of how well you are supervising him. He should be playing at the park at that age not handling deadly weapons.

Yeah and there is no way that you can only load one round in a pistol so that that doesn't happen

Thats fine, so did mine. All I'm saying is putting a handgun in the hands of a 5 year old is bad parenting. I'm not criticizing educating children about safe gun handling, I'm criticizing doing it at that young an age. If your Father let you work your way up from a pellet gun, I doubt you were 5 by the time you were shooting handguns, unless he gave you a pellet gun when you were 3.

I did fine with the .22 rifle but her bro happened to have a Glock .40 (I think) in his truck.

Same sort of thing happened at my clubs "Ladies Day at the Range" a few years back. Its a fun day where they close down the range to normal shooters and bring in women who have never handled firearms before. They are given a chance to go around to the different ranges and try everything out, with one on one instruction. It happened when a younger girl did not listen to instructions about holding on tightly, and whacked herself on the forehead with a black powder pistol. To my knowledge it was the only injury that had ever happened at a Ladies Day.

On a related note, last year I had a couple of very attractive young ladies come up to us as we were wrapping up at my station (scoped .22's) and ask if we had anything bigger. Out came a buddies AR-15 and my old K98, and they both shot wonderfully, as did a few others who heard the big booms and wanted to try them out. It really gives one hope for the future of the sport.

Nearly gave meself a black eye firing a m-203 one time. The sight comes out the side and is just about the size of a quarter. If you don't seat the m-16 butt in your shoulder correctly... *bam* right in the eyeball. I put the paint round through the window though *grin*.

People like this are the reason we need to train everyone in various firearms at young ages.
I seriously think that passing a firearms course should be part of graduating high school.

I was showing my cz to my curious girlfriend the other night and it blew me away how little she could figure out on her own. She was totally amazed when I described the motion of the slide when it fires and pulled it back with my free hand to show her.

Blew me away (haha).

Guns aren't sold as liberally in all countries as they are in America. Everyone has come across a lock and key, not everyone has handled a pistol.

That weapon should be able to be handled by just about anybody with a little bit of training. The poor girl will probably never have good trigger control in the future because of this one incident. She will probably be afraid of the weapon's kick and never learn how to effectively use it.

Well, guns--much like chawin' tobaccky, snake handling, 4x4 trucks, banjo playing and incest--are not the universal prerequisites for growing up. Your mileage may vary, since I obviously haven't run into enough people who deserved to be killed with a bullet, at least not by little old me.

I did take a hunter training course at age 12 along with several friends; shot trap and skeet until 25. I doubt I'd have even seen a weapon in my life if my father wasn't a hunter/security guard/gun trader.

I don't fear/dislike guns, I just dislike the phallic importance one places on them as a matter of masculinity or power. Most of the guys my dad knew (supposedly well-trained gun owners) that had gun injuries were either self-inflicted shots while cleaning an otherwise "empty" weapon or some other accident related to mishandling or accidental firing.

/Guns don't kill people, ninjas do (can't fire a gun if you chop off your opponent's hands)

I kinda agree with you there. I knew a guy who bought one of those .50 Desert Eagles and it didn't seem to kick nearly as hard as my Ruger Redhawk .44. Of course the Desert Eagle probably weighs over 70 ounces,so that probably has a little to do with it.

As for the video, I also think it looks fake, I also wondered if they were touching this thing off in a city park and that the dude's T-shirt just set a perfect tone for the stupidity that followed.

That reminds me of a guy that was with me in the Marines that liked to raise his thumb on his off hand (the one bracing the handgun, not the one firing) striaght up because he "liked the feel" of the slide slightly grazing his thumb while firing. One day during rapid fire drills, that 'slight graze' became a dislocated thumb bent back over his hand to his wrist.

He listened to the instructers after that.

2008-01-03 10:16:37 PM
Yea, no muzzle flash, guy "loaded" one round, but the slide didnt stay open after it was fired, hell it didnt even look like the gun ejected anything.

Not saying skinny girls can't shoot big guns, but if that really happened half her face would be skinned off cause the slide would have been locked back, and all the rough machining would have sliced her.
